Canyouhearmenow (talk · contribs) I would like a review of my work as I would like to become a greater asset to wikipedia and an editor in general. I do at some point want to move towards becoming an admin Canyouhearmenow 01:22, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I like your enthusiasm and work in a controversial field. I think that you have remained very cool under fire and certainly have the patience for an administrator. However, I do have some things I would like you to work on:
  • Most importantly, when you revert a vandal, please warn them on their user talk page. This is very important, and can help stop some vandals. See WP:TUSER for a list of such warnings. The {{uw-vand}} and {{test}} series works pretty well for most cases of vandalism.
  • From your present conflict, I would caution you to only use rollback to revert blatant vandalism. If you are reverting good faith edits, please manually revert it with a detailed edit summary.
  • Help build up a few more articles. Right now, mainspace editing is a real vogue in the realm of RFA. Try helping to write a DYK, GA, or FA. I strongly recommend you do this.
  • Be more active in Wikipedia space. I see you've participated in WP:AFD, but have you ever been to some of the other XFD's, like WP:MFD or WP:CFD? Try looking at those. You also should be familiar with protection at WP:RPP and vandal blocking at WP:AIV.
  • Speedy deletion. This is a very important field for any admin. I suggest you help patrol Special:Newpages and tag bad articles for speedy deletion.

You're on the right start, just keep heading down the straight and narrow path and you will do very well. bibliomaniac15 21:25, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned earlier you show a lot of enthusiasm towards Wikipedia with very diverse edits. My minor suggestions would be:

  • Attempt to build or expand more articles in your area of interest. Your goal should be to adopt one or two articles and improve them from stub or start status to Good article or Featured article status. This will give you chance to perfect your source/citation skills and help you recognize NPOV. These are skills I think every administrator must have.
  • I'd encourage you to be more active in a selected WikiProject. This will aid you in helping to develop standards and structure. Again something I think an admin must know.

You've been a really great editor on Christian and Gospel music articles, so please keep up the good work. Good luck on reaching administrator. Absolon S. Kent (talk) 20:17, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I think if I had to choose one contribution, it would have to be the edits I made to the Male porn stars pages. I feel that area needs a lot of work due to the vast amounts of POVs as well as self promotions. At some point when I am stronger in the community I would like to move for some changes in the rules for allowing what constitutes notability to that area. In many cases those individuals do not deserve pages due to lack of their notability. I worked with various admins while doing some of the work there and they all seemed pleased with the contributions I made. I remained civil while dealing with some of the editors in that area.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have really had no major editing conflicts recently. I did in the beginning have a problem with only one editor who I feel was more on a head hunt than being a good constructive editor. In the months to pass, my feelings were confirmed when she was found out for being a sockpuppet so that she could enforce her edits. I have been pretty capable of bending in situations where I was unsure and people were being constructive in their guidance of my editing behaviors. In the future I feel that should I run into an issue where my judgements are being called into play, I feel it my responsibility to take it to another editor with greater knowledge than myself or to an admin for a final overall review and judgement call. I recently did a edit reversal in which the original editor questioned my rollback. I took it to an admin at the request of the editor and we are still awaiting a verdict on the edit.
