Wikipedia:Editor review/xiner

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm archiving this review, but any further comments are always welcome. I felt since I started this that I've gotten a much picture of what admins actually do, and I value the feedbacks I've received. Thank you. Xiner (talk, email) 15:36, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

  • Hey man. Wikipedia binge eh :)? I see your sharp rise in edits this month. Anyways... I don't know what you mean by you'd like to run for CAT:AOR. It's seemingly irrelevant to you? Can you explain more on that because I am confused.

I want to point out that your first statement in your userpage is unsuitable in a sense. Announcing that your "most immediate goal on Wikipedia is to attain adminship." will immediately result in oppose votes by users on your RFA per WP:ANOT (which you attempted 10 days ago). I think that is your only problem right now. You probably need to adjust your philosophy on Wikipedia.

Overall, you are a very good editor. Good participation in many discussions, especially in XfDs. You also posted a lot helpful comments in Talk:Baiji. Why aren't you in WikiProject China (or have you seen it) ? lol. Cheers!

I do admit that could be a problem, and I've been read up a lot on the areas admins will touch, hence the spike in edits. That statement was more a result of me not being able to post the link to this editor review, but you solved the problem for me and I will remove it now. My user page has undergone a major facelift since the RfA, as has my thinking, and the change is ongoing.
I wasn't aware of the project. I'm certainly interested in joining.
Thank you very much for your time. I'd appreciate more comments anytime. Xiner (talk, email) 00:47, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

A: I am happy about every single edit I've made. The greatest contribution though must be the great deal of materials I entered into WikiProject Buffyverse, including writing the bulk of many of the articles and substantially editing the rest (really, there were too many to list, including most of the main characters). It taught me a great deal about editing.
Recently, I also fell in love with the Baiji article. Not only did I help defend the page against edit wars and anon-IP attacks brought on by the main page placement, I also used my knowledge of the Chinese language to dispel a few myths on the page.

2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A: I do not like to recount the instances where I have had disagreements with other editors. It's not how I live my life. I like to forgive/forget/etc. and it seems silly to me if I were to point out cases which I have laid to rest.
The key to conflict resolution is finding common ground. Praise the other party for something tangible, remind them of your good faith, and try to lower the heat. I didn't think putting another warning template here, so I tried hard not to use it. Eventually, I had to, but did manage to help lower the temperature there.
