Unsourced and POV

This map shows what countries belong to Western world and it should be deleted for following reasons:

1. Deciding what countries belong to "Western world" and what countries don't is not obvious or common knowlendge. Such information should be sourced (reliable sources must be provided). For this particular map authors failed to provide any reliable sources.

2. Moreover, "Western world" is a subjective term. Different scholars use different definitions of the term, and none of such definitions is prevalent. However this map pretends to be objective, which is not possible for such term. Having a map titled "Western world" instead of "Western world according to Dr. O.H.Smart of Oxford University" is POV that cannot be fixed.

3. As already said, there are different definitions and, naturally, different countries are included or excluded according to different definitions. For this map, its authors never indicate on what particular different this map is based. And this can be easily explained, since

4. This map is an absurd mix-up of all thinkable and even some unthinkable definitions of Western world. You can see from file history and from its discussion page that differnet editors use different definitions (which in more than few cases creates contradictions):

- income level
- industrialization level
- EU membership
- NATO membership
- legal system
- religion
- cultural heritage
- historical states located at corresponding terrotories
- current culture
- personal POV

And, no doubt, they are bold to add countries they feel are missing from the picture based on their criteria.

5. Versions of this map include countries like Cuba, El Salvador, Panama, Isreal, Japan, South Korea, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. I highly doubt these countries may be included to "Western world countries" list that would be based on any reliable definition of such.

Keep This ad states all Four Vegas won car of the year, It is the only image in the entire article Chevrolet Vega that shows the Vega's four models in one photo. This ad was selcted out of 50 or so to show the Car of the Year announcement and its four models in one image. Keep-The image is NOT used for decoration. It is an image of the vehicle in the article- Car and Driver's 73 Vega GT- This is a historical image of the vehicle in the text and it IS described in the article.. shows the reader the vehicle in the last laps of the 1975 race and shows what this winning car looked like. Text can't show the car regardless of how well my text describes it. It is one of only two images of this race winning car ever published. Only people that read the Jan. 1975 issue of Car and driver know about it or saw a picture of it...(It was mentioned briefly again in a 1990 Anniversary C&D issue with no photo or text) I would like the reader to SEE it as well as read about it. the image is 33 years old and is historic. I dedicated a full section of the article to this and the image improves the section and the Chevrolet Vega article. - Bob, What you need to show is how the use satisfies Wikipedia’s non-free content policy. In particular, WP:NFCC#1, “Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose” and WP:NFCC#8, “Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding.” As Stifle said, free text could serve the same encyclopedic purpose. Understood, however I don't remember ever reading about a car that won any type of race without a photo of the winner. A photo is needed. WP:NFCC#1-No free equivalent:There is no free equivalent to this image. It captures a historical, specific point in time of a specific vehicle in a specific event 33 years ago. The text does not have the same effect alone as with image included, and effect not adequately conveyed without image. Both text and photo were used originally in Car and Driver-January 1975 article to convey desired effect wanted for subsection 1973 Vega GT Showroom Stock in Chevrolet Vega.

WP:NFCC#8 The image has substantial significance as it shows the vehicle-Car and Driver's 1973 Vega GT #0 leading the race, "having to just stay alive" to beat white Opel vehicle on its tail. I have added the image to the Belfast Airport page as I think it useful. The absence of an uploader seems immaterial as the image is properly licenced. I would suggest removing this image from the deletion list. There appears to be no similar image, the image is non longer orphaned and there are no licencing issues.
