File:S.R.V Memorandum-3.pdf (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Kaitha Poo Manam (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Unlikely to be own work by the uploader. Stefan2 (talk) 11:27, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stefan2, how can you think, these are Unlikely uploads by me? Kaitha Poo Manam (talk) 11:35, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
These are unlikely to be own work by the uploader because they look like documents created by a company. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:06, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody is stating that you are not the uploader. The issue is that in the license statement, you are claiming to the be the copyright holder. Being the uploader does not make you the copyright holder. -- Whpq (talk) 12:44, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - the description itself "...sent by D.F.M.F Trust to Kerala Chief minister Oommen..." makes it fairly clear that the uploader is not the copyright holder. -- Whpq (talk)
I am not Arguing here. But, a doubt. See this file: [1]. Here, the uploader uploaded the file under the License of Self-published work. The user mentioned that, this is own work but, stated about the Author is another one. And, the uploader is living in Poland and the uploaded file is a certificate copy of an Indian university which was allowed to someone in India. And, the file is uploaded on 2014. But, the file is still now here. What do you think about it and how it possible here? Kaitha Poo Manam (talk) 13:46, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated that file for deletion. Looks like something which no one noticed before. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:38, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Whpq, do you think, an organization should be create their own wiki accounts to upload their own files here?Kaitha Poo Manam (talk) 14:01, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Stefan2, I pointed out only one example here. If you travel through (I know it is not possible by only one person and it is a group and mass work here) all Wikipedia images (especially with self publishing), you can find out several files such these type with dis-mach uploader, author and Source contains. According to my files, I have kept all this. But, you felt these are not own works. Still I don't know why. I agree, these documents all are created for an organization named D.F.M.F Trust (It is not a company. It is only a charitable trust.). But, this documents created by me for the organization before 3 years. I am a photographer and I have a photo studio with a D.T.P center. If you think my uploading is wrong please give me a proper guideline to upload this files here becoz, there is also a file to upload to the uploaded series.Kaitha Poo Manam (talk) 17:26, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Some-women-of-Iranian-background.JPG (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Sangak (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

At least one of the images in this mosaic is a copyright violation, see [2]. MER-C 12:31, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - The collage lacks source information for verifying that the individual elements are freely licensed. As noted in the nomination, there is already one image which is copyrighted. It would not be a surprise if the others were as well. Even the background image would need to be cleared as a free image. -- Whpq (talk) 12:48, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - could have been speedily deleted for copyvio (my nomination). The same deletion reason stands. As Whpq says, it's more than likely that the rest are copyvios as well. I stopped at one, because that's enough. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 18:28, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:CPAC 2016 logo.png (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Meiloorun (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Seems like this may below the threshold of originality in its country of origin - Canada. May be appropriate to re-license under {{PD-textlogo}} and transfer to Commons. Jon Kolbert (talk) 20:11, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Mental ray.svg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Aaron1a12 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Seems quite obvious that this should fall under {{PD-textlogo}} and be transferred to Commons. Jon Kolbert (talk) 21:27, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Srestho.bmp (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Thrashcanman16 (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

I tried to upload a smaller version of this file - all I got was a useful(!) message of ".bmp" is not a permitted file type. Permitted file types are tiff, tif, png, gif, jpg, jpeg, webp, xcf, pdf, mid, ogg, ogv, svg, djvu, oga, flac, opus, wav, webm.. What is the best solution? Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:50, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Also affects File:Basement-Jack.bmp, File:Radian Morituri.bmp, File:MM-8 The Key to the Universe.bmp Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:55, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ronhjones: For the first image, it appears [http://qineticmusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Sreshtho_CrypticFate_cover-480x480.jpg is a good JPG substitute. I will upload it shortly and then take a look at the others. Jon Kolbert (talk) 21:57, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • If it's not possible to upload new versions of BMP files, then I think that the only way to fix WP:NFCC#3b violations is to convert the files to PNG (or some other file format). --Stefan2 (talk) 21:59, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Agreed - I just did not know if there was some preferred way of changing it - Photoshop will give me anything I want. Obviously bmp must have been available at some point (there are just under 80 BMPs on en-wiki), and the policy must have changed. I didn't know if something had been previously agreed as the preferred transfer image type. Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:06, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
      • I've uploaded a new file similar to the old one but without the Pepsi stuff on it. It seems as if there's another cover available here from iTunes which slightly differs from the one I uploaded. It appears as if the album name on iTunes is different than the article title... taking a look at the other images now. Jon Kolbert (talk) 22:09, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As for File:Basement-Jack.bmp, the image appeared to be of a video cover. For use with {{Infobox film}} the theatrical poster is preferred, I've uploaded it here and have substituted it in the infobox. BMP image can now be deleted as orphaned non-free image. Still working on the others. Jon Kolbert (talk) 22:20, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Finally, I think File:Radian Morituri.bmp should be replaced with this image - the original file is used in an article about the character. It's probably best to have an image with just the character in it to avoid confusion. I was able to find a .gif copy of File:MM-8 The Key to the Universe.bmp here. I think using these files is a reasonable solution. Jon Kolbert (talk) 22:28, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jon Kolbert: Sounds good. If you csn't find an alternative for some, give me a ping and and I will use PhotoShop to turn the bmp into a png Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:45, 8 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ronhjones: The first two images have been replaced - would you mind converting the "Key to the Universe" bmp into a png? I can't bring myself to upload it in GIF format. Thanks! Jon Kolbert (talk) 00:11, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
