This is the coordination page for Chennai Wikimeet up 5.
Summary
[edit]The Wikipedia Chennai meetup is a regular get-together of wikipedians (contributors and users) to meet up, discuss, share experiences, reach out and advocate for wikipedia and wikimedia. The meetups are intended to be structured as follows —Introductions, a few focused talks by Wikipedians to share experience / expertise followed by demos and open discussions on topics of common interest. Pre-Meeting discussions can be done on the talk page please.

- Venue : Classroom No 3, Areo Space Engineering department.
- Near Gajendra Circle, IIT Madras.
Agenda
[edit]The meetup is organised in partnership with the Indian Linux Users Group - Chennai (ILUGC). The Wiki part of the meet will begin at 4 PM. There will be three talks scheduled. Surya Prakash S. A, administrator in Tamil Wikipedia will be giving a talk on "State of the Tamil Wiki". Then Loganathan, administrator in Tamil Wiktionary will introduce Tamil Wiktionary. Finally Bala Jeyaraman, Member of the Wikimedia India Chapter's Executive Council will introduce the Chapter and talk about its activities and future plans.
English and other language Wikipedians, if interested in taking a session or giving a talk, please leave a message in the talk page.
Intended Audience
[edit]Anyone interested in Wikipedia (user, contributor or curious about it). Wikipedians from any part of India or the world and anyone who is interested in Wikipedia! Meetup is open to members of all Wikimedia projects and Wikipedians from all languages. All are welcome, and we are especially interested in seeing newcomers to join the experienced Wikipedians/Wikimedians. If you are interested in coming, please add your name below.

[edit]Around 25 wikimedians and non-wikimedians attended the meetup. The meetup opened with an Introdcution to Openstack by Yogesh G. The Wiki part was next. Surya Prakash. S. A gave a presentation on the state of the Tamil Wiki projects. Then Sodabottle introduced the Wikimedia India Chapter and its activities. There was a long question and answer session on Wikimedia's copyright policies, creative commons licenses, personality rights, OTRS system and notability criteria in various wiki projects.
