This is an unusual one (I hope). The "selected articles" are in half the cases not actually articles, but subsections of the main article. This reflects the (sparse) navigation template this portal is based on, where most of the links are to subsections of the main article as well (not really what a nav template should do). Also no category (thus no subcategories), making this a much too small pool of articles to based a portal on Fram (talk) 08:11, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Delete someone put California as a selected article. Really? It's linked from the main article at the top and anyway how is the state within the scope of a 42,000 person city? Legacypac (talk) 08:28, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Comment. I've not seen that before! There's an orange-level tag on the main article, too. There is a category: Category:El Centro, California with some other material, some of which eg 1940 El Centro earthquake looks quite well developed and others are above stub, and there's some bios there too, but I'm not sure whether there's enough to support a portal. - Delete. Even more of a glorified navbox than some of the other portals. — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 13:50, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Delete – Yet another narrow-focus portal created recently when creating portals has been fun and too easy. No reason to think that this one is needed. Comments of previous editors apply. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:46, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
