The result of the discussion was: keep . ~ Amory (u • t • c) 09:52, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Portal on a TV show which is too narrow a topic. This one has a lomg list of contestant bios but beyond that there are only some episode lists and a handful of episode articles and an awards list. Created durimg the X3 spree of creations but by another user. Legacypac (talk) 02:39, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- KEEP - I also completely fail to understand how this is considered too narrow of a topic when it is ever expanding, international versions, spin offs etc etc. Doesn't seem correct for this to be nominated for deletion. Brocicle (talk) 03:03, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- What on earth? Strong and speedy keep. ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:07, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Keep, per Brocicle and Another Believer. = paul2520 (talk) 03:19, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Keep. This is an Emmy-winning show, with multiple spinoffs, many seasons, well over a hundred contestants, and continued coverage in RS. --Kbabej (talk) 03:22, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Delete, it's a TV show. Doesn't meet WP:POG, no matter how many Emmys its won. All of the information can be included in the article. Repackaging the links relating to a TV show like this is fancrufty and promotional. I mean at what point are we just competing with the show's official website? They could pretty much redirect their "About Us" page to their Wikipedia portal and not have to worry about maintenance anymore. Quoth RuPaul... Leviv ich 04:41, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- So you'd like to delete Portal:The Simpsons and others about TV shows, too? Makes no sense. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:15, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Maybe. This looks like referenceless advertising with limited editors watching it. Legacypac (talk) 22:25, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- SOFIXIT, but deletion is not the answer, sorry. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:31, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- I am fixing it by seeking deletion of this useless page. Legacypac (talk) 23:30, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

- @Another Believer: I know, that you know, that RuPaul's Drag Race is not anywhere near comparable to The Simpsons, or M*A*S*H, or The Tonight Show, or other such TV legends. :-) It's a long-running, popular show, but it's not a legend, it hasn't hit the 20 year mark yet (11 years is longer than average, but not the stuff of TV legends), and it doesn't have the ratings. It doesn't have the awards, either. Winning 9 Emmys is a lot, but it doesn't compare to The Simpsons' 31 Emmys (and a bunch of others, too). To answer your question, yes, I'd probably vote to delete all portals for all TV shows. If we should have portals on some TV shows–the biggest ones–I'd put The Simpsons on that list, and M*A*S*H and The Tonight Show, but not RuPaul's Drag Race. I wouldn't put American Idol on that list, either. Leviv ich 17:13, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hmm, ok, I don't agree with where you draw the line but that's ok, thanks for clarifying. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:20, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

- Keep There is definitely room for improvement, but I am not convinced that it needs to be deleted. Nihlus 05:31, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Keep – Meets WP:POG. North America1000 06:13, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Delete - This one was created during the wave of portal creation, and there is no evidence that it is being usefully or actively maintained, and active support should be part of a minimum for a portal. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:02, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- You've clearly not seen how active WikiProject RuPaul's Drag Race and its members have been lately. But, I get your point, portals require maintenance. Perhaps we should discuss this at the WikiProject and/or see if any portals folks can help, but I don't see good reason to delete the portal at this time. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:08, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- If a subject matter WikiProject want to build a proper portal that is a possible reason to keep, but that is not where this came from so delete Legacypac (talk) 23:30, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Legacypac and Nihlus: Can either of you share how this nomination fits in with the many others considered for deletion right now, as part of the discussion about automating portals? I read about this in The Signpost but I don't know where to follow what's happening. I think there's clearly interest to keep the RuPaul's Drag Race portal, but I'm not exactly sure what maintenance is required, especially given ongoing discussions about automation. Any help here would be appreciated. I'd like to stress one more time, there are hundreds of article in this project, which I believe has a rightful place here at Wikipedia. Deleting because of inappropriate scope is one thing, and deleting because of lack of maintenance is another. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:13, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- The particular editor behind this portal has created numerous inappropriate pages on all kinds of random topics. Some of his/her books and Portals are at MfD now or have recently been deleted. The automated portals automatically generate a lot of stupid errors and are not being checked or maintained for the most part. There is good precedent that individual TV Shows, companies, and similar should not have portals, though that is not written into policy yet. Legacypac (talk) 18:29, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
