The result of the discussion was Administrative early closure: speedy deletion per existing policies. The text of this userbox reads: "This user regards adherence to Abrahamic religious beliefs a flaw of character." This is a direct personal attack towards individuals and other Wikipedians, rather than being a userbox expressing of a point of view of the kind permitted by Wikipedia consensus. Speedy criteria WP:CSD#G10, Pages that disparage or threaten their subject, is met in full here, as this userbox is definitely personally disparaging. Therefore, an MfD discussion is unnecessary and potentially counterproductive (in that an undesirable debate may ensue). I draw the attention of the userbox creator to WP:CSD#G10 and WP:NPA. - Delete. Inflammatory, inappropriate; clearly contrary to userbox guidelines. Attacking Abrahamic religions is no different to singling out "Muslims" or "Jews", attacks on which would clearly be intolerable. --Mkativerata (talk) 08:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Stating a distaste for Abrahamic religions is similar to singling out Islam or Judaism (NOT Muslims or Jews). This userbox, however, does insult the adherents of Abrahamic religions, and is therefore unnacceptable. I have no problem with userboxes that state an opinion about a religion, but when they state an opinion about the adherents of a religion, we stray into unacceptable territory. - Keep - If that's what the user believes then he should be allowed to say so, so long as he does it in a respectful and neutral-ish way. --Fred the Oyster (talk) 16:57, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Normally I'd agree with you (see Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Template:User dislikes semitic one god religions), but in this case, where it is the adherents of the religion, rather than the religion itself, that is commented upon. Criticize an institution all you want, but telling someone they have a character flaw is a bit divisive. Buddy431 (talk) 21:06, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Weak delete. Not on the grounds that I am one of those targeted by the template, though. It is not listed, and even its creator is not using it. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 18:25, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
