The result of the discussion was: speedy keep. - Consensus below is to Speedy Keep.- FYI this is a matter for WP:RM not MFD. Cheers, (non-admin closure) –Davey2010Talk 22:14, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
One editor (who I won't name) cited this as an example of something that makes them uncomfortable identifying themselves online or participating in online discussions, because of the association of hanging with the history of lynching in the United States. To be more sensitive to people affected by that history, perhaps we could find another metaphor or way to make the same points under a different title? Or just drop this if the community finds it unimportant anyway? I'm not endorsing any particular outcome, but would like to bring this up for discussion. -- Beland (talk) 05:29, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Keep. Same as last time Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Give 'em enough rope. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 09:11, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Speedy keep as this is a move request, not a deletion nomination. SK2242 (talk) 13:10, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Strong keep per above. -Cupper52Discuss! 17:36, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- Speedy keep Nominator says they aren't actually asking for it to be deleted. Any discussion of some other change can take place on the talk page. As I say every time this comes up, if you would prefer a different essay with some other metaphor feel free to go ahead and write that essay and eventually it could replace this one in Wikipedia parlance.
