States 'free use authorized' but no OTRS. Asenine 11:22, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- No idea what OTRS stands for. Mrs. Kiester released this photo to accompany her biographies, as printed in her books, and alongside articles in other media. In order to accertain the availability of use, I contacted her via her email posted on her publisher site. She responded, allowing use, and sent another copy of the photo. Any further question can be directed to me on my talk page. JAGUITAR (Rawr) 14:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks to be a professional publicity-type shot. I can't (in a ten second search) find the same image online, but I did find this thumbnail. J Milburn (talk) 13:01, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have already stipulated in both the Summary and License that I am the owner of this photograph. I have also permitted its use on other websites besides Wikipedia. It has also been used on other websites with and without my permission, but as I posted it as free use, I have no problem with its additional distribution elsewhere. Are you saying that my Summary and License were somehow incomplete? If something is missing, please advise and I'll happily correct it. Thanks. X4n6 (talk) 06:38, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I've deleted this as it was previously deleted for lacking copyright information. You would need to place a notice on the source page that it is released under a free license. Stifle (talk) 14:51, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had placed a notice on the source page that it was released under a free license. I had also done both Summary and License notices. I even specified the free use GFDL. You can also see above that I indicated that if anything was done improperly, rather than just deleting it, I would appreciate being given the opportunity to correct any deficiencies first. Notice the 12 days my request sat here without any response, before you deleted the photo with no discussion beforehand? Perhaps you missed all of this. I am still interested in restoring the photo and doing so in a manner so that I won't find myself having to do it again down the road. For a third time. As an admin, will you assist? Imprecise source provided. I don't read Bulgarian, but I doubt that it is licensed under GFDL- I can't see anything that looks like a GFDL notice on the site. J Milburn (talk) 13:09, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uploader claims to hold the copyright, but I'm close to 100% certain that this is a professional promotional shot. Probably a case for speedy deletion, but I thought I'd list it here just to make sure. GaryColemanFan (talk) 17:57, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a trademark in the image, so this is highly unlikely to be GFDL. Asenine 20:09, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Trademark and copyright are two distinct concepts. An image can be trademarked but still freely licensed. In any case solid proof must be gived that this logo is GFDL. -- Bryan (talk|commons) 22:01, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uploader has a historyof uploading copyrighted umages under public domain licenses and this seems like another likely case. Up until recently it had no source information, and even now it barely has any, appears to have been taken professionally and is of a man who has been dead for several years now. The likelihood that this is the uploaders own work is remote. — –– Lid(Talk) 22:36, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It should also be noted that the image description cannot possibly be true. It states that the image is of Smith at a dark match during a pay-per-view event. He is shown holding the Intercontinental Championship, which he won in the main event (not a dark match) at SummerSlam 1992. Prior to the next pay-per-view event, he was fired. This was his only reign as Intercontinental champion, so the image cannot come from another pay-per-view. I believe that this is a copyrighted image of SummerSlam 1992.
