- File:MarderIII.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Cannot locate original source. Commons has plenty of other images with better sourcing.[1] Kelly hi! 01:48, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Image seems to originate from a higher res version of the german Bundesarchive version available at Commons. --Denniss (talk) 16:43, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, yeah clearly a derivative work of that same source. I'll change the license to match the source. Kelly hi! 05:57, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- File:FFFUUU.JPG (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Bottom right quadrant contains a popular internet meme, which makes this image a copyright violation of whoever the original author of that image was. It doesn't matter that this image is used everywhere across the internet, nor does it matter if the original author is unknown. It's still a copyvio. - It seems that this is from a website with the terms "Non-commercial Reproduction Information...". MGA73 (talk) 21:29, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I own the original rights to this image from my book: Avrocar and I am releasing the image as public domain. There are myriad images of the original around. FWiW, I am now removing the tag. Bzuk (talk) 21:46, 1 January 2011 (UTC).[reply]

- Bzuk, you need to fill out the source and author fields with a bit more information—specifically, identify who gave you the photo, and who the author is (and/or who commissioned the photo, in the case of a work for hire). By listing yourself as author of a non-artistic reproduction of a photograph you're effectively saying "I took the photo", which I don't believe is what you meant to imply. According to this, similar photographs were taken by BGen R. M. Cox (unclear if they were taken in an official capacity). Is that also the source you had in mind?
In that file, you've also got a copyright statement from the DND, but no assertion it was a DND photo. Do you mean to say that the "former Avro collector" got it from the DND and then gave you his collection? In that case, there would be a fair possibility he never owned the rights to the photograph, and therefore couldn't legally transfer copyright to you.
On Wikipedia, it's necessary for the photo to be free in the U.S. (on Wikimedia Commons, it also has to be free in the country of origin, presumably Canada in this case). You can either show that you have the rights and can release them (try WP:CONSENT; see the message on User talk:Bzuk), or you can show that it's in the public domain in the U.S.. The trouble with the latter is, although the Canadian Crown copyright will likely have expired (50 years after the end of 1959, if first published in 1959 in Canada), works originally published outside of the U.S. between 1923 and 1977 and not in the public domain in the original country by 1996 are copyrighted in the U.S. for 95 years after publication (i.e. until at least the beginning of 2055).
(There's also the option of using an image under fair use, but due to WP:NFC, I don't think it will apply here.)
On an unrelated note, if you do have the rights to the image, any chance you could upload it in a higher-quality form? (There are some colour defects, perhaps due to saving in a lossy format at some point.) I found an example here that's cropped differently, but looks to be the same shot. The result of the discussion was: delete all, except File:Weddingarchtriumph.jpg, as it's tagged with a non-free license. Ironically, I've tagged it for lacking a fair use rationale. — ξxplicit 21:39, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- This and some other photos [2] have the source "scanned from newspaper or magazine". I think we need more info to be sure this is PD. Many of the files can be seen in Mukachevo#Jewish_Life_in_Munkacs_Gallery. MGA73 (talk) 22:57, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
