- A PUF relisting was suggested with this edit by King of Hearts on DR. In this case, it's perfectly reasonable to believe, even expect that the person in charge of the project would have copyright authority over its product. I think we should believe a user who claims to be and pretty clearly is (look at his edits) Associate Dean at the Harvard School of Public Health when he claims he created the content and clearly, at a minimum, spearheaded their creation. All the deleted files at http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&action=view&user=Prof756 should be restored. I detect copyright paranoia. --Elvey (talk) 18:16, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Keep as PD-US-not renewed. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:53, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- No evidence that the artist died before 1963 as required by Canadian rules or before 1946 as required by US rules. Stefan2 (talk) 18:57, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- This Canadian work is in the public domain in Canada because its copyright has expired for one of the following reasons:
it was subject to Crown copyright and was first published before 1963, it was a photograph created before 1949, it was a photograph that was created after 1948 — but before 1962 — and the copyright was owned by a corporation, it was an unpublished work created by an author who died before 1949, it was otherwise a work created by an author who died before 1963 (subject to transitional rules for unpublished works by authors who died after 1948 but before 1999), where the creator is unknown, the work was published before 1963 or (if not published) created before 1938.
FWiW Bzuk (talk) 04:13, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- "Unknown" doesn't mean that the creator isn't named in the comic book but that the name of the creator isn't revealed within 50 years from publication. This page tells that the creators of several of the stories have been identified although I believe that no one was named in the comic book. No identified creator is listed for this particular story, so maybe that means that the creator is unknown, and it is unclear if those other names were identified during the first 50 years after publication or if they were first identified at a later point.
- Additionally, the source country isn't Canada but the United States as True Comics was a US publication. I can't find True Comics in the copyright renewal records for 1970, so I suppose it's {{PD-US-not renewed}}. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:17, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I have a copy of the comic. There is no author/illustrator identified. The original file was actually found at the Canada National Public Archives, even though there is no doubt that it was originally a long defunct U.S. publication. I had checked with the biographer of the engineer that was the subject of the comic book profile and he assured me that the material was in the public domain in both the U.S. and Canada. - Derivative image of models - commons:com:TOYS Ronhjones (Talk) 19:04, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Pictures of models themselves are not copyright infringement. You cannot easily have articles on model types without showing examples. Wikipedia commons is full of pictures of model cars that are arranged by the photographer and are not copyrighted.--Cstevencampbell (talk) 03:23, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Unclear if the uploader knows what "self-made" means. The term appears on logos (Special:PermanentLink/193272028) and obvious copyvios (File:Fort San Felipe.jpg), and the visual effects look suspiciously promotional in nature. I suspect that this was stolen from the schools website or something. Stefan2 (talk) 23:33, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
