Nomination
[edit]Basket of Puppies (talk · contribs) – After nearly a year I have felt a great inner desire to assist the building of this amazing encyclopedia in an even deeper and manner. It is my great hope to be granted the tools and mop of administrator in order that I can further help in building what I consider the greatest project in all of humanity- the sum of our collective knowledge. I hope I have earned your trust and, more importantly, your respect. :) Basket of Puppies 02:45, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A:
- New Page Patrolling-Speedy Deletion I hope to be able to further my involvement in new page patrolling by being able to delete pages which decidedly fell within the criteria for speedy deletion.
- Vandal Fighting-Blocking vandals After issuing the appropriate warnings, blocking vandal only accounts and issuing short term blocks for IPs. As well, I hope to be able to semi and fully protect pages from active and ongoing vandalism. (See below for more.)
- Edit warring-Page Protection I hope to sparringly use the protection features (Semi and Full) in order to help with edit wars. At the same time I will attempt to help mediate in order to solve the crux of the warring.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: I have only with Wikipedia since Jan 1, 2009. Certainly that isn't a huge amount of time but since I've come on board I like to think I've made some contributions. The article New Waveland Cafe and Clinic (which I started and heavily contributed to) became a Good Article. I am seriously proud of this! I have also been going through random articles and added references to those which need it. I also have been working hard at copy editing and generally tidying up articles.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I do not believe I have had any major editing stresses or conflicts. In fact I have found it extremely easy to work collaboratively with users. I have chimed in on some AfD nominations for articles where there were passionate feelings. In those cases I read thoroughly and carefully the arguments each way and I only speak my voice when I have considered every point. I hope to continue doing things in this way and look forward to excellent collaboration! :)

- You say you've been editing for a year, but only joined in January. Would I be correct in assuming you edited under an IP address for three or four months before registering this account name? ~ Amory (user • talk • contribs) 02:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- January is close enough to a year AFAIC. Prodego talk 02:50, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Nearly a year, but yes I did edit as an IP for a month or so before realizing I could sign up and fully participate. :) Basket of Puppies 02:52, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support
[edit]
Oppose
[edit]- Oppose You want to work in CSD yet you only have 54 deleted edits, you'll need some more experience in that area if you intend to work there before I support.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:46, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- You do some good work here, and anyone who sticks around this place gets instant respect from me. You seem to do decent content work, and I certainly appreciate that; however, you seem to have little experience with Wikipedia's maintenance, and I see little participation in community discussions. Your CSD work, while scarce seems to be accurate at first glance so I'm not too concerned about that. I don't see any major cause for concern in your editing history, and I'd bet you would do just fine with the mop. Unfortunately, I don't feel entirely confident supporting at this time. Wait two or three months, get a bit more experience at UAA, AIV, and XfD, and barring any significant issues that arise until then I'd be happy to support. I wish you good luck in your request. –Juliancolton | Talk 02:53, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I remember running across you a few days ago at the Dont Hangon TfD and looked at a few of the other things you've done. You like you're a great editor, but as the opposes above me state, it's really difficult to make a judgment call over whether you'll be good as an admin when there's so little to look back upon to see how you've been as an editor. So, yes, this is just another "not enough edits" oppose, nothing new to be said, and there'll probably be more, but I would advise you not to get discouraged because you're definitely on the right path. I can see that you've been watching a lot of RfA's lately and studying the questions, which is a good thing as well. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 02:54, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - WP:NOTNOW. I'd like to see at least 3k edits, and 1 year's experience. Hope to see you here later!--Unionhawk Talk E-mail Review 02:55, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - as per Giants27. You need some more work here. BrianY (talk) 03:43, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral
[edit]- Neutral at this time due to the concerns raised by Juliancolton, Giants27, and Soap above. I can't really comment on edit count as I recently ran for adminship myself with about the same amount of edits and almost 8 months less time than you! :P I would recommend continuing to work with CSD and your other areas of stated admin involvement, and to keep up the good article work on articles like Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leak. Come back with a bit more experience and I will happily support. Regards, MacMedtalkstalk 03:07, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
