Suspected sockpuppets

(This case was initially submitted to AN/I. MZMcBride moved it here 22:59, 10 February 2009. Mayalld closed it 15:16, 16 February 2009 stating "if investigation is required, please file as an SPI case above". I presume the intent of MZMcBride's suggestion was to check the IP range for any registered users and/or collateral damage from a presumed range block.)

Numerous IP addresses are being used by a vandal intent on adding unsourced future albums, singles and movies to roughly twenty articles, going back to at least September. The articles involved include Aly & AJ, Bratz: The Movie, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, Headstrong (album), The Hunchback of Notre Dame II, The Incredibles, Nathalia Ramos, Raven-Symoné, Raven-Symoné (album), Sneakernight, So Much for You and numerous others. Often, the edit summary is "(music)", even for the movies.

One characteristic edit is the addition of an uncited sequel to Bratz: The Movie:[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] [8][9][10], etc.

I have noted the following IPs, though I would be shocked if there were not others:

Several blocks and a few page protections have had no effect. The editor has not responded to any talk, warnings or blocks.

In September, there was a similar problem with "==Music video== soon." repeatedly popping up on So Much for You. At that time, the following IPs were involved: 81.159.148.30 (see also, Hunchback III), 86.143.49.165, 81.159.144.39, 81.159.62.194, 86.135.1.202, etc.

I know 81.159.148.30 was blocked repeatedly, but I don’t have the time to even start to dig for the edit(s) that conflict with those blocks. Additionally, I don't know that a Sock case will do much good here. What are our options with this mess? Am I stuck with a never ending game of Whac-A-Mole, just waiting for the newest IP to show what other articles are being abused?

Just added Hilaryduffreia1, based on the edit summary "(music)" here, a 2011 Vanessa Hudgens album here and a 2011 Cheetah Girls album here. Account is newly created and one of the target accounts above has a new semi-protection on it... - SummerPhD (talk) 16:33, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Cartoonzaq. One of the IPs above was previously tagged as a possible sock of Cartoonzaq. Cartoonzaq's edits include numerous articles included above or similar to them. I note the following similar edits: Hilary Duff future album, 102 Dalmations sequel, Hunchback II sequel[12], "Soon." section, etc. Based on creation of talk pages with Example.jpg, Cartoonzaq and Hilaryduffreia1 make one unusual error the same way repeatedly. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hilaryduffreia1 (talk · contribs) is the only non-stale named user, it edited on a static BT IP that is blocked fo 55 hours. No obvious socks that I can see there. I checked the IPs, there's no named users there. -- lucasbfr talk 23:00, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
