D10s Maradona

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

It's simplest to start with this edit by 95.239.82.22 at 09:49, 3 December 2020 to Dissident Irish republican campaign, which I explained was incorrect less than an hour later at Talk:Dissident Irish republican campaign#Casualties. That IP geolocates to Italy. The intersection of contributions with D10s Maradona is Catania football riot, Gulf Cartel, List of ongoing armed conflicts, Mexican drug war, Piracy on Falcon Lake, so they appear to be the same editor.

Despite having their earlier insertion of an incorrect figure reverted with an explanation, this revert was made by 79.52.10.235 at 08:20, 27 December 2020. That IP geolocates to a similar area of Italy, and it's reasonable enough since they are making the same wholly incorrect change at the same non-Italy related article that they are the same editor. That IP was warned about Troubles restrictions and the 1RR rule, which resulted in a report (permanent link for edit warring relating to the Dissident Irish republican campaign entry at the List of ongoing armed conflicts (revert #1 at 16:12, 27 December 2020, revert #2 at 19:00, 27 December 2020. D10s Maradona then made this revert (although a lot of things get changed in the edit, it's changing the Dissident Irish republican campaign deaths from 1 back to 3, which was done by 79.52.10.235 in revert #1 at 16:12, 27 December 2020) at 13:39, 28 December 2020. It seems pretty clear D10s Maradona is the same editor, and is edit warring while logged in and logged out to try and avoid 1RR restrictions. FDW777 (talk) 15:33, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Per WP:DUCK, I'm blocking the two IPs for a month each and the registered account for five days. I'll leave a message and find out it the editor will listen. They have been attempting to create some articles so the lack of communication and the socking are disappointing. EdJohnston (talk) 16:47, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Geolocates to same area as IPs listed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/D10s Maradona/Archive. More pertinently, they made this post asking Why you deleat all information about the war between Jalisco Cartel and Los Caballeros Templarios Cartel. This refers to the Jalisco Cartel New Generation-Los Caballeros Templarios Cartel War article created by D10s Maradona (who is also the only significant editor to that article), who is currently blocked for copyright violations and edit warring to remove a related template from that article. Here the IP uses the word "inserect", as D10s Maradona did here. FDW777 (talk) 17:15, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As D10s Maradona's original block has expired and they've now been reblocked indefinitely for continued copyright violations this can probably be closed without action, unless someone thinks blocking the IP is a good idea as well. FDW777 (talk) 21:37, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Added current IP (79.23.9.194), I posted here that if they want to edit they should post an unblock request from their account. They ignored it and carried on editing. FDW777 (talk) 11:31, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

D10s Maradona and their known IP sockpuppets have a long history of making disruptive edits to articles about lists of armed conflicts, in particular relating to the Dissident Irish republican campaign and the Hutch-Kinahan feud. See the discussion at Talk:List of ongoing armed conflicts/Archive 11#Dissident Irish republican campaign and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RRArchive423#User79.52.10.235 reported by User:FDW777 (Result: Blocked). In particular their edits attempt to increase casualties by including incidents they believe are related. At List of armed conflicts in 2020 they make this addition without a single reference actually confirming the deaths were part of the Dissident republican campaign, or directly related to it. They also attempt to include the Drogheda feud as part of the Dissident republican campaign, done by a previous IP sockpuppet here.

List of armed conflicts in 2017 has barely seen any edits for the last few years, then suddently both the IP and ElNinhoNapulitano spring into lots of action there yesterday, same for List of armed conflicts in 2016. The IP is on the same ISP as known IPs listed in the archive, and geolocates to the same area of Italy as previous sockpuppets. At List of armed conflicts in 2020 they make the addition and this addition attempting to elevate criminal feuds, including the Hutch-Kinahan feud, to an "armed conflict". Same here at 2015 and here at 2016 and here for 2017 and here for 2018 FDW777 (talk) 08:47, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Known IP sockpuppet Why you deleat all information
ElNinhoNapulitano why you deleat my changes
The unique spelling of "deleat" with the editing similarities tend to suggest a duck quacking into a megaphone. FDW777 (talk) 15:13, 2 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Same fixation with List of ongoing armed conflicts (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) as previous sockpuppets, and the same unique spelling of "DELEAT" as previous sockpuppets. FDW777 (talk) 16:08, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Straight after the protection at List of wars by death toll (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) expired, back adding the same gangland feuds as the last sockpuppet. FDW777 (talk) 19:10, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could this association be confirmed? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:37, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Liz: since this report they have used the rather unusual words "inserect" and "deleat", both of which have been previously detailed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/D10s Maradona/Archive. I'd say using both of those terms while making the same edits as previous sockpuppets to the same niche articles is as good as a "likely" by a checkuser. FDW777 (talk) 20:52, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the "deleat" gave it away. I'd be happy about a check for sleepers, though. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:42, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Liz, sockpuppetry is now technically confirmed, although the connection to the master account D10s Maradona is only behavioral and "Possilikely" to my understanding of the /Archive. There's a group of sockpuppets and block-evading IP addresses engaging in the disruption at List of wars by death toll, and my block is primarily about these. Whether it's D10s Maradona or someone else doesn't make much of a difference to me in this case; it would become interesting if D10s Maradona appeals their block. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:00, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

At Castellammarese War (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), attempts to add casualties formatted as +50, the exact same format as a previous sockpuppet. Also at Sinaloa Cartel–Gulf Cartel conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), amends the casualties from 1.648 to 2,759, the exact same change as a previous sockpuppet. The word "inserect" has been used on six pages on the whole of Wikipedia. At Talk:List of ongoing armed conflicts/Archive 11, User talk:2.249.150.61 and User talk:Whitesin21 MorteBiancaFan uses it, at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/D10s Maradona/Archive the use of it by previous socks is mentioned, at User talk:79.19.155.126 it's used by the IP detailed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/D10s Maradona/Archive#15 January 2021, and a previous sock used it at User talk:Neapolitanguy97. At Talk:List of ongoing armed conflicts/Archive 11, and User talk:MorteBiancaFan they also use the word "deleat" which is mentioned repeatedly at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/D10s Maradona/Archive. That they also have the same narrow editing interests of conflicts and related articles in addition to those unusual spelling traits is rather telling. 109.144.210.141 (talk) 12:42, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Similar editing to the recently blocked sock MorteBiancaFan (talk · contribs), in particular the addition of wholly incorrect casualty figures. As I've explained at Talk:Loyalist feud#False addition removed again, at the Loyalist feud article they are carrying on similar misinterpretation of primary source data detailed at Talk:Dissident Irish republican campaign#Loyalists, casualties and Liam Christie, with this addition (and made again. Their other edits include ones to List of ongoing armed conflicts (a regular target of theirs according to the archive of this page), Maoist insurgency in Bangladesh (editing extensively by MorteBiancaFan), List of aircraft shootdowns (edited extensively by MorteBiancaFan), Corsican conflict (edited extensively by MorteBiancaFan), FRG9 insurgency in Haiti (created and edited extensively by MorteBiancaFan). Kathleen's bike (talk) 14:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Further evidence is their recent use of the word "inserect" which, as shown in the archive, is a word that has only ever been used on Wikipedia by D10s Maradona's socks. Kathleen's bike (talk) 17:05, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Primay focus is on List of ongoing conflicts and related articles, like prior socks. CAMPIONI2023 uses the unusually worded phrase of 'Those massacres are not linked into the conflict', with similar odd syntax as prior sock MorteBiancaFan did on the same article with 'Ok, at least inserect the massacres linked into the conflict'. On another article CAMPIONI2023 uses 'Not all casualties are linked into the conflict' which is rather similar to the most recent sock Kvaratskhelia77 did on the same article with 'Not all deaths are linked into the conflict'. No edit summaries yet with their trademark bad English, but there are enough similarities in editing in particular the primary focus being List of ongoing armed conflicts and related articles. Regarding the former there's the usual inability to move text within an article using one edit, instead they cut and paste with two edits (further example), just like prior sock MorteBiancaFan did with similar cut and paste (many more examples here with identically sized removals and additions). Also edit to FRG9 insurgency in Haiti which was created by prior sock MorteBiancaFan, and edit to Infighting in Los Zetas, the latter doing nothing except removing non-visual code left over from the deletion of images added here by prior sock CAMPIONI2023. At Armed conflict for control of the favelas in Greater Rio de Janeiro Lobotkadeservedtowin adds the sentence "On 28 November 2015, 5 civilians were killed by Militar Police in Costa Barros with 111 bullets, all of them were innocents" added by prior sock CAMPIONI2023 here. While at FRG9 insurgency in Haiti, Lobotkadeservedtowin adds the sentence "At the same time, other two gangs were involved in the insurgency, the 400 Mawozo and the Torcel that started killing civilians and battling themselves for the control of part of Port-au-Prince" added by prior sock Mammtapecora here.
