Possible sock/meatpuppet. Similar editing habits on Animacy which includes blanking similar sections of the page (such as 1, 2, and 3. User also edited on my user page with this, by stating that "colleagues" were trying to restructure the page. Potential sock also edited on the suspected user's sandbox with stuff from the article such as this. I am not 100% sure if this warrants an investigation, or if it is too vague to warrant an investigation, but I have my concerns. Ghent123 (talk) 03:03, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Both accounts were also created within minutes of each other Ghent123 (talk) 03:09, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- They were created under the guidance of our professor, so our contributions could be tracked by our usernames. Issabei (talk) 21:37, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments
[edit]- CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - Clearly coordinating. What's not obvious to me is whether this is one or two people based on my check (particularly note the minor version numbers for the editing on 15 December). Setting to request+endorse. - While I guess it's not possible to tell with absolute certainty, I would assume these are different people based on the technical data, the nature of the editing, and other indicators. I also don't think I would consider this meatpuppetry as opposed to people who are well-intentioned but perhaps not familiar with Wikipedia's conventions. The next step is probably talking to them. - Even though you came to the conclusion that it is not a sock, I found another: Vuonghocling. Ghent123 (talk) 19:46, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Perhaps we should ask Vuonghocling, JumanMubayed and Issabei what is going on. Spicy (talk) 20:04, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have asked the accounts. Currently waiting for a response. Ghent123 (talk) 20:15, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey! Sorry for not responding earlier, it was rather late. The truth is all of us are collaborating on a university project to revamp this page, but we're all separate people! We thought we'd communicated this on the Talk page, but it seems our unfamiliarity with the system caused undue distress - we apologize. In order to not step on your toes, we've been working instead on my sandbox page (all of us contributing to some extent, if you look at the edit history) and not the official Animacy page.
- Thank you for reaching out - I've also explained this to Ghent123 on my page. Please let us know if there's anything we can explain further! Issabei (talk) 21:15, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, as my classmate already explained, we are different people working on the same project, sorry about the confusion but each account is a separate person working on a separate section on the page. i hope this clears things up. thank you! JumanMubayed (talk) 21:30, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Since it's a university project an your edits are constructive, as well as the check showing that you are different people, I'm going to let it slide. However, I am not the expert in this scenario, I am going to see what a clerk or Spicy thinks. Ghent123 (talk) 23:26, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

- This is a plausible explanation based on the technical data. I'm going to close this and recommend reading Wikipedia:Student assignments. Thanks, Spicy (talk) 23:40, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
