Suspected sockpuppets

Evidence submitted by Tisqupnaia2010
[edit]

I have strong reasons to believe that User:Assyria 90 and User:Destudent are Sock Puppets of User:Shmayo. Their comment on this page came just minutes apart after more that 18 hours of Shmayo last activity, all to handle a single issue. Those other accounts have been basically idle for weeks, and just awoke at the voting stage of some suggestion in the above mentioned page. Both suspected accounts were not involved in any discussion that took place before the voting and suddenly appeared at the same time as Shamyo and commented/voted just minutes apart. Please help verifying this issue, and please let me know what you find out.Tisqupnaia2010 (talk) 23:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See Defending yourself against claims.

Me and Assyria 90 have been members for a long time, and our edits are not that smiliar. But if you now believe that we are sockpuppets I hope someone can do an IP-check, which will of course show that we are two different persons. Shmayo (talk) 05:56, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I mostly look at the wikipedia pages from a university in the Netherlands. Because of my busy schedule, I haven't had much time to do editing, but the first thing I am planning on writing is something about an Assyrian village. I wanted to do it thoroughly and do some research before I made a page. The reason my entry was just after the other two, is that (since I am new here) I didn't know what to do if I opposed. I therefore waited until other people had posted. Destudent (talk) 12:10, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have been on this Wiki for a long time and I have another account on the Swedish wikipedia with the same name. If certain people believe that we are the same persons then let them have us tested. But from what I am reading below it seems the test has already been done and shown no similiarity, except for me and Shmayo coming from the same country which is Sweden. --Yohanun (talk) 16:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. What are the chances of two Assyrian Wikipedians being on the same ISP? or putting it another way; what are the chances of two Assyrians being on Wikipedia, and being on the same ISP? I wouldn't put a dollar on those odds. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 10:24, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Check the edit histories! they've never spoken to each other once in years of Assyrian-related editing. They've even replied to comments of mine on behalf of each other: [1] [2]. Both have claimed to belong to the Syriac Orthodox denomination aswell: [3] [4]. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 12:18, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, you're desperately trying to get me blocked,Iraq. But the truth is that me and Assyria 90 are not the same person. The chances that two persons from Sweden being on this ISP is very big. Both me and Assyria 90 have been members on Wikipedia for a long time and our edits are not similar. The test below proved I'm right here. Shmayo (talk) 13:37, 20 April 2010 (UTC) Yes, Iraq, members of the Syriac Orthodox Church, just as 80% of the Assyrians in Sweden. Shmayo (talk) 13:51, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Summary of findings: Two Wikipedians, both Assyrians, both live in Sweden, both use the same ISP, both belong to the Syriac Orthodox denomination, both have a "distinct similarity between editing patterns", and yet both have never once spoken to each other during years of Assyrian-related editing on Wikipedia, which has even included instances of replying to comments on behalf of one another. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 16:42, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser request – code letter: C (Vote stacking affecting outcome )
Current status – Completed: Reviewed by a Checkuser, results and comments are below.    Requested by Tisqupnaia2010 (talk) 23:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Clerk note: Updated to code letter "C" as none was given. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk endorsed There is a distinct similarity between editing patterns between two of the users. The third, User:Destudent seems to have similar editing times as the other two (most notably the hours identified by [5] vs [6]), as well as other notable comparable edit behavior. However, this behavior is only notable and peculiar, not obvious, so a CU is warranted just for confirmation. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 04:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shmayo and Assyria 90 are on the same ISP, but that is the only tie between them, as far as I can see. Destudent is from a completely different country. --Deskana (talk) 10:11, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: If the only behavioral evidence is both taking part in a poll on a topic both are interested in, there's no need for action here following Deskana's evidence (or lack thereof). Furthermore, this just seems to support their different identities. ~ Amory (utc) 16:49, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

Identified Sockpuppets, Wikipedia Username and Assyrian Voice Forum (AVF) username uncased in ()

The Assyrian Voice Forum (AVF) can be found on the following URL
http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.140

@shmayo (Forever Assyrian) - still active
@Chaldean (chaldean) - still active
@EliasAlucard (Alucard) - blocked indef for racist rants
@Assyria 90 labeled as "Yohanon" (xnicksomox) - last active Nov 2013
@Destudent (Unsure) - last active April 2010
@Dok101 (dok101) - last active since Nov 2011

@shmayo The AVF user "Forever Assyrian" aka @Shmayo is involved in Sockpuppetry, Stealth Canvassing, Canvassing and Vote-Stacking. Which are all violations of Wikipedia's Rules. Some examples of what @Shmayo wrote on the AVF:
July 28, 2009, 07:53:18 PM
"there were many Assyrians active not long ago, but then again most became inactive. Come on guys, we need you now!"
October 31, 2009, 09:46:59 AM
"New pseudo-Aramean user, help! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Dejwono"
October 31, 2009, 10:18:35 AM
"Where are you?! :@ Assyrians to Wikipedia, now!"

More details and examples are listed bellow.

Proving the Wikipedia user @Shmayo is the same person as "Forever Assyrian" on the AVF

1) On april 19 2009, While the AVF user "Forever Assyrian" identifies a "Trail Naming Poll" and asks for people to participate in the poll, at the exact time that @Shmayo and his 2 sockpuppets (@Destudent and @Yohanun) being the only Assyrian POVs posted to the Poll. The 2 users @Destudent and @Yohanun are also from the AVF, @Shmayo would later be investigated for Sockpuppetry of those 2 users.

Please see the 2 links below:
http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.175
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Assyrian_people/Archive_10#Trial_Naming_Poll

2) On the AVF (October 31, 2009, 09:46:59 AM) the user "Forever Assyrian" calling on people to make edits and instructing them "to HELP" on Wikipedia against a user called @Dejwono.
Where he writes:
"New pseudo-Aramean user, help! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Dejwono"

http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.140
https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Syriacs&diff=prev&oldid=323104095

This coincides with this same Wikipedia user @Dejwono being hounded by @Shmayo (See the link below) and having an editing war ONLY with @Shmayo at that same time.
@Shmayo was warned by the administrator @Toddst1 "Please stop WP:Hounding and reverting Dejwono (talk · contribs)", he would be blocked tempereorly for this. See the link below:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Shmayo#ANI

@Dejwono also tells us that @Shamyo had been blocked indefinitely from Wikipedia Sweden. This hasn't been verified me.

3) One of @Shmayo's sockpuppets is @Assyria 90 (labeled as Yohanun) is "xnicksomox" from the AVF. Both of them @Shmayo and @Assyria 90 responded on wikipedia at the same time the request was posted on the AVF. @Shmayo gets an immediate response on wiki by Yohanun (@Assyria 90). @Assyria90 is the same user that @Shmayo was investigated for sockpuppetry in 2009 along with @Destudent. Unlike the accusation directed at them during this sockpuppet investigation @Shmayo and @Assyria 90 are not the same person, but rather both Assyrians from the same town in Sweden that have colluded on the AssyrianVoiceForum.
At the time the wiki-admin didn't figure out how this collusion took place, and so did not block them, but since then we have found the AVF that shows @shmayo instructing others on the forum.

This is the Sockpupet investigation for @Shmayo at the time:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Shmayo/Archive
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Tisqupnaia2010#SPI

4) On March 20, 2010 the AVF user "Forever Assyrian" calls for a particular wikipedia user to be "checked", that same users is involved in an editing war ONLY with @Shmayo.
This user askes @Shmayo to stop harrasing him on @Shmayo's talk page, the user is then blocked for Sockpuppetry shortly afterwards. With very little evidence of sockpuppetry.
https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Shmayo&diff=prev&oldid=359721340

http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.175
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/%DC%A5%DC%9D%DC%AA%DC%90%DC%A9

5) @shmayo 's was subject to a sockpuppet investigation for the user @Destudent. This user @Destudent within the space of hour of creating a new Wikipedia account had somehow managed to find the WikiProjects Assyrian Page and add himself as a contributor to the members list. This is highly unlikely to happen on it's own, unless he was given outside instructions to do so, like the instructions found on the Assyrian Voice Forum.

6) @Shmayo has demonstrated that same hounding behavior with me, as soon as he saw my posts on the Assyrian People talk page, prompting me to write "@Shmayo: Stop trolling through my contribution log and reverting my edits. I should not have to spend 2 hours preparing an edit with an image to explain this nonsense to you

Why @Shmayo should be blocked indefinitely

The fact is @Shmayo has had at least 2 people blocked from Wikipedia indefinitely and 1 blocked temporarily with much less evidence that has been presented here against him.
Furthermore he has continued to demonstrate this hounding and debating behavior until very recently.

During @Shmayo's sockpuppet investigation he could have just explained that he was not aware of the Wikipedia sockpuppetry, vote-stacking and Canvassing rules. making it an honest mistake. But instead he chose to deny the accusations labeled against him. Given the number of times he accused others of the same thing, demonstrates that @Shmayo knew what he was doing was wrong; and deliberately violate Wikipedia's polecies.

@Shmayo has been been warned a number of times by Wiki Admin about his hounding and even vandalism. But for the most part has been able to continue with this behavior for the better part of 6 years completely unnoticed.

@Shmayo deserves to be blocked indefinitely.

The @Chaldean is the user chaldean on the AVF

The ring leader of the Assyrian Sockpuppetry Syndicate on the Assyrian Voice Forum (AVF).

Chaldean was the one that stated the tread and started making requests, this was reciprocated by other users on the AVF: "Chaldean can you please keep us up to date on whats happening?"

The AVF was clearly POV poorly referenced and motivated by racism:
" F@king Arameans damm them all to hell."
"The Wikipedia Jews banned me."

Evidence of vote stacking: "Vote at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Assyrian_people#Trial_Naming_Poll now!"

What is really concerning is the following statement made by @Chaldean "dont worry Emil. I have some MODS on my side about the main Assyrian page issue. Lets not focus on it right now, as it has been lucked from editing anyways! We need to work on other pages, like this;"

@Chaldean is still active on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Chaldean

The following pages were created on the Assyrian Voice Forum (AVF) and passed to the Wikipedia user @Chaldean. The articles were then created on Wikipedia as new articles at the same times.

AV-sydneydude Wik-Chaldean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyrians_in_Australia

AV-Phiruel and GodismyJudge Wik-Chaldean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyrians_in_the_Netherlands

AV-Chaldean Wik-Chaldean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyrians_in_Georgia Sr 76 (talk) 13:04, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Even more SOLID evidence the wikipedia user @Shmayo is the same person as "Forever Assyrian" on the AVF
1) On March 28, 2010, 11:45:53 AM - Forever Assyrian wrote on the AVF:
"Please, join discussion of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Chaldean_Christians and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Tel_Skuf . These two user are the Chaldeans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:%DC%A5%DC%9D%DC%AA%DC%90%DC%A9 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tisqupnaia2010"

http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.175

at the same time @Shamyo is the ONLY wikipedia user battling on the same page mentioned by "Forever Assyrian", with the exact same 2 wiki-users mention by "Forever Assyrian"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Chaldean_Christians/Archive_1#Changes
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Chaldean_Christians/Archive_1#Chaldean_and_Assyrian_nationalists

This is further compounded by looking at the other mentioned page
https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Talk:Tesqopa&redirect=no#From_the_People_of_Tel_Skuf
AGAIN it is ONLY @Shamyo is the wikipedia user battling with on the same page mentioned by "Forever Assyrian", with the same 2 wiki-users mention by "Forever Assyrian"

2) On March 30, 2010, 05:25:06 PM - Forever Assyrian wrote on the AVF:
"Chaldeans are removing everything Assyrian from articles regarding Chaldean Catholics. Chaldean Catholic Church, Alqosh, Tel Keppe, Tel Skuf and all other articles. This because the active discussing Chaldean Catholics consider themselves Chaldaens, and "if you're not Chaldean, you can not say what Chaldeans are". Chaldean, where are you? We need you."
http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=16628.175

ON ALL 4 ARTICLES MENTIONED by "Forever Assyrian" on the AVF @Shmayo is involved in an editing war at the exact same period. that is "Chaldean Catholic Church", "Alqosh", "Tel Keppe", "Tel Skuf"
When the wiki-User @Chaldean drops out of the editing war this leaves just @Shmayo in the editing-war, "Forever Assyrian" write on the AVF: "Chaldean, where are you? We need you."

https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Chaldean_Catholic_Church&type=revision&diff=352807200&oldid=352793757

THIS CANT BE A COINCIDENCE, it is far to close by any stretch of the imagination. Sr 76 (talk) 17:21, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Haha. To be honest, I did not take my time reading it all. Are you accusing me of being a user on a forum or am I accused of being User:Chaldean and all these other user you listed? Clearly, you have not read the conclusions on that old SPI-case. I am none of the users you listed. Sockpuppetry is not my thing, lol. You should reread your talk page and all the advise that was given to you by the admins. Shmayo (talk) 11:24, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So you are the user "Forever Assyrian" on the AVF?
Sr 76 (talk) 16:46, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Where did I claim to be "the user "Forever Assyrian" on the AVF"? One of @Shmayo's sockpuppets is @Assyria 90 (labeled as Yohanun) is "xnicksomox" from the AVF. So Assyria90 is a sockpuppet of mine, but at the same time you're claiming that we are different persons on that forum? Shmayo (talk) 13:54, 20 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Look-up the definition of a sockpuppet, you don't necessarily have to be the same person.Sr 76 (talk) 08:04, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All the AVF Links above have been deleted.

The thread has been sitting on the Assyrian Voice Forum since 2006, but has miraclesly disappeared this week as soon as @Shmayo was reported as Sockpuppet. Its reasonable to suggest that @Shmayo has gotten in contact with the moderators of the Assyrian Voice Forum, and asked them to delete the thread that implicates him in sock puppetry.

Lucky I took a screen-capture of all the pages on the thread, below. Apparently @Shmayo thinks we were all born yesterday.

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

Users where both involved in the edit war on the article Arameans in Israel a few months ago with having the same sentiments of removing and replacing the term Aramean by Assyrian. Also both users are involved in the same kind of articles and show a strongly Assyrian POV. When more sourced information are added to an article that speaks about terms as Aramean or Chaldean it is being removed by both Mugsalot and Shmayo. They use a strategy of nominating the accounts who make such edits on the vandalism and sockpuppet side of Wikipedia to get them removed and fulfill their Point of Views on Wikipedia. It seems like there is a strong connection between these two accounts. Reldex (talk) 12:21, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am fine with CheckUser being used here. Note that this case probably was opened as a reation to this case. Shmayo (talk) 13:06, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have no issue with this either. Reldex is clearly engaging in tat for tat editing and has no intention of positively contributing to Wikipedia. Mugsalot (talk) 08:30, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What I see here is not enough to endorse CU for two tenured users, and I've perused the SPI linked above and furiously shaken my "retaliatory filing?" 8-ball – signs are pointing to yes.  Additional information needed. In order to facilitate and expedite your request, please provide diffs to support your case. Please give two or more diffs meeting the following format:
  1. At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
  2. At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
  3. In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this.
