Possible sockpuppet of Sprayitchyo (User:MaronitePride, User:Sloganlingo and User:Kcluedluigi some of the most resent sockpuppets, full list here). Same editing patterns, 1 2. Plenty of other similar edits. WP:QUACK. Shmayo (talk) 15:13, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Vanjagenije: The similarity in link 1 and 2 is the removal of Lebanon from the lead (which is his main goal with this edit), and then mentioning Lebanon as one of the countries "outside the Assyrian homeland" together with Jordan and Armenia (also Cyprus in the first edit). More: 3 MaronitePride made this edit without knowing the fact that almost the same sentence already existed in the article. When I removed it, he was fast to add it back 4. I just understood that the reason for this edit is the same agenda; removing Lebanon-related Fares Fares and Josef Fares from this Assyrian article. He reverted it a several times. When I later suggested to remove a couple of people instead (among then these to brothers), he clearly didn't complain no more, see 5. Some other similar activities too 6 7. I think it's worth a check. Shmayo (talk) 21:51, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if this is enough evidence but all 3 accounts display an interest in Lebenese culture, Lebenese diaspora, the Maronite Church and Jews of a variety of ethnicities in Israel. For example, see edits in Lebanese Brazilians 1 and 2 or Iraqi Jews in Israel, 3 and 4, Bulgarian Jews in Israel 5 and 6, the entire editing history of Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of the Martyrs of Lebanon in Mexico or Georges Saad Abi Younes or Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Antelias. All three accounts have edited Christianity in Lebanon. If these accounts are more sockpuppets of User:Sprayitchyo, I assume that the checkusers will be familiar with his/her editing interest. MaronitePride is already blocked but it was the similarity of this account to Guilebeatyu which struck me and then I stumbled upon Roltz when I was looking at page histories. Liz Read! I was wrong when I suspected (JoeFranjie45) to be a sockpuppet of HailesG. There is plenty of evidence that these two accounts are sockpuppets of Sprayitchyo. They have the same interests (Lebanon, Lebenese culture, Lebanese cities and villages, Demographics of Lebanon, Moronite-related pages, Maghreb....) and editing patterns. Some examples: Sprayitchyo created Berbers in France and he edited this page using four sockpuppets!!(MaronitePride, Liloyoresu, BrainlarvAmazigh, Kcluedluigi and now using JoeFranjie45 ([3], [4]). Lebanese people in Germany ([5], [6], [7]). Template:Lebanese diaspora ([8], [9], [10], [11]). His edits in Lebanese people ([12]...) using three sockpuppets (MaronitePride, Laceduaneno, Kcluedluigi and the new "JoeFranjie45"). Maronites ([13], [14] and hundreds of edits by his blocked sockpuppet, MaronitePride). His edits in Demographics of Lebanon using MaronitePride, the main account Sprayitchyo, MyNewAccountName and now using his new sockpuppets (Georgiodaccache, Georgiodaccache, Georgiodaccache...JoeFranjie45, JoeFranjie45) this behaviors led an editor to suspect that these two accounts are the same person ([15]). This case is being reviewed by Sir Sputnik as part of the clerk training process. Please allow them to process the entire case without interference, and pose any questions or concerns either on their Talk page or on this page if more appropriate.

  • I'm not seeing any clear evidence of sockpuppetry here. Particularly the edits to the article about Berbers in various countries removing content mostly written by previous socks is the exact opposite of what I would expect of a new one. Closing. Epf2018 is indef-blocked CdnGael2018 and they are likely Sprayitchyo based on behavior as well as technical info from the cu log. Epf2018 has also IP socked in an edit war.

Likely based on information documented at the checkuser wikipedia, some of which involves IP information not suitable for a public report. CdnGael2018 was already blocked (see block log) but they evaded to create Epf2018.  Blocked and tagged.

The most recent sock of this user was "Human Taxonomist", identified and banned in January. That user had been IP socking too from both IPv4 and IPv6 ranges, all geolocated to Toronto, Ontario. The IPv6 range was the same as the above. An example of the IPs being 2605:8D80:664:E4A6:BF9E:B2C:F736:CA48.

This editor returned this week and immediately took up his old habits on Human Genetic Clustering.[21]. The page was protected by Doug Weller to prevent further socking. Note that the three reverts and then switch to a new IP is typical of this sock. He reverts freely but (not very transparently) circumvents 3RR by rotating socks and IPs.

This diff shows his IPv4 sock edits on that same page, showing he tried the same edit this week as he had previously tried in November (scroll to the end).[22]. Note that the IPv4 address 142.116.165.244 geolocates to Toronto. IP socking from that range was described by admins as egregious, and includes this one among others:[23]. The page just before the deletion on 3 November being particularly charming.

This sock is always interested in race and genetics so unsurprisingly the IP is now editing the AFD for Race and intelligence. My only evidence for supposing Skunkworks22 is related is as follows: (1) minimal edit history shows the same subject interest in race and genetics, (2) seems to know their way around wikipedia as the first thing they did was create a page and now found their way to AfD. (3) turned up at the same time as the IP sock. Not sure that is enough for checkuser - really it is just a suspicion, and happy for them to be dropped from the report, but the IPs definitely  Looks like a duck to me. The IPs have a clear chain of connection trying the same edits on the same pages all the way back to last September. Sirfurboy (talk) 22:59, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information. This User talk:Human Taxonomist shows details of the latest block with comments from NinjaRobotPirate who was the one who said: "The extensive edit warring while logged out leaves a fairly compelling trail of disruption." Doug Weller is also aware of this case and provided the page protection. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 23:57, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ETA: added another one commenting on the same AFD with no edit history. This sock is attempting to have major input into an AfD discussion which is inappropriate. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 07:53, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. I grant that I've similar interests to some of these users I'm accused of being a puppet of. They're popular areas of debate right now, for sure. But I'm not them (Note: I contend more than one of these suspects here are not the same people either!). I've already informed how I edited human clustering by attempting to remove an unsupported statement. Someone else evidently did so too? My IP is from my mobile carrier, called Rogers. It shifts when I'm on data. It's based in Toronto, but the IP ranges cover Rogers customers in GTA, the rest of Ontario, Quebec, and other areas. Millions of people. I myself am not in Toronto, as an example, but in Ottawa valley area. I hope this helps! 2605:8D80:648:1B4D:5360:2F1D:EF2F:174C (talk) 23:33, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Compare "Race can be both socially constructed and biologically constructed. The levels of variation seen in humans is the same as that seen in the differences between populations, subspecies, "races", etc."[24] - 142.118.184.153 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)
and It is debated whether "race" should be used as a term for the biological constructs or structure observed between human groups or populations. The correlations between race-based social constructs and actual human biological sub-populations is only in some cases 'limited', and can often be quite significant...[25] - the above IP.
Considering the obscurity of these pages, there is no way this is a coincidence. Grayfell (talk) 00:23, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Those sentences have been taken out of larger contexts. They have similarities, so the other user is probably copy + pasting their stuff from the same academic literature. This isn't that abnormal because many users on here in similar topics are sourcing from this material. It's a specific group of high profile and low profile experts publishing on the debate most recently. It's a boatload of academic literature out there with the terminology 'race as...'. Search it yourself. 2605:8D80:669:29A9:D46A:4209:C977:4A0C (talk) 03:01, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Noting here that (in my assessment) resolving this SPI might be important in order to determine what the outcome of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Race and intelligence (4th nomination) should be. There are some arguments made by suspected sockpuppets that could sway the discussion. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 13:31, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New account created as an SPA to comment on a race and intelligence RFC [26], which is the area of interest of Sprayitchyo. This person has been active recently under various IPs and may be attempting to avoid being called out based on IP geolocation. However the contribution to the RFC is strongly reminiscent of Sprayitchyo for the appeal to David Reich and the misapplication of what Reich says.

This paragraph is highly reminiscent of Sprayitchyo: "David discusses how genetic variants affecting cognitive and behavioural traits are found to differ in human populations, even aligning to the social construct that is race. He makes a similar argument in a piece for the New York Times, a newspaper not known for its support of fringe extreme right theories. More broadly than anecdotes of respected mainstream scholars, there is empirical evidence that the scientific consensus takes the issue of race and intelligence seriously."

Compare this with the IP edits in December at Human genetic clustering.[27] That IP address was identified as being used by Sprayitchyo and was blocked in January.

This quote connects Hayeksplosive with the other newly created SPA that commented at much the same time on this RFC, Pangolin2019.[28] In this paper the authors sent a survey to scientists who published at least one paper in journal covering cognitive ability between 2010 and 2013. 85% of responders were psychologists and only 13% were right win"

Although Pangolin2019 is less obviously Sprayitchyo, the similarity in activity is such that  Looks like a duck to me. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 21:17, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ETA: there was also an IP address that seemed suspiciously like Sprayitchyo on the dispute resolution noticeboard this week not geolocated to the usual areal. that address was 2600:1012:B042:1ED6:89E2:C68C:38B:3A8. It is possible that he is currently out of town or using a proxy and may be worth checking the above against that IP range too. -- Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 21:24, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was not sure whether it was worth it to defend myself because I did not think the reasoning was very compelling. However, I would like to make a defence just to set the record straight. I have done some IP edits in the past and I created an account three months ago because I wanted to get more involved in editing Wikipedia. Although I did not get around to using my account for a while, I saw a link to the debate about whether the issue of race and intelligence was fringe recently. This intrigued me so I did some research and I got round to finally using my account. Hayeksplosive (talk) 23:31, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As with previous socks, we see a laser-focus adjusting articles to support the fringe idea that biological racialism has mainstream acceptance.

This is, as before, done by assuming that genetic variation is comparable to "races" as categories, and then attempting hammer this home with semi-civil waffle on talk pages. Compare this edit from ForzaItalia2020 and this edit from the IP to this edit from a recent sock. As with previous sock posts, David Reich (geneticist) is emphasized, along with other names dropped, typically without support or context.

As with previous socks, ForzaItalia2020 makes many fussy edits related to specific ethnic groups, mostly eurasian ones. Grayfell (talk) 21:25, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My two cents on this issue is this may be a sock, but if so that is a cheap way to win a dispute so you can push your own biased position. You ignored the concerns raised.
Where do you explain what mainstream you are referring to? The other user is correct arguing that support for the use of 'race' for human populations or categories is held by mainstream researchers, and used in mainstream journals. There is a discussion going on the usefulness of race, and names mentioned indeed have all either said race exists in humans or said there is evidence to support that position. It is a term routinely used interchangeably for categories like biological population, ecotype or subspecies in all other species studied, in various mainstream sources and journals.
If mainstream, reliable, expert sources are provided (and they appear to be doing in the case of names mentioned like Reich, Tibayrenc and Donzhansky, among others), I agree there is nothing fringe here. 2605:8D80:643:600F:2FB4:C4D4:94FE:29D9 (talk) 01:03, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You "agree" with yourself? As with previous socks, an IP from the same geo-location pops up on this SPI to attempt to force a discussion based on faulty premises. Even if you were correct, which you are not, this page is not the place to discuss racialism. Derailing the discussion in this way is a crystal-clear example of why sock puppetry is so disruptive. Grayfell (talk) 02:56, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • By coincidence, I noticed unrelated activity at Talk:Lana Lokteff, an article about a white supremacist. Reviewing that page I noticed Forza2020, who I had previously interacted with. That editor was blocked WP:NLT in October. In addition to the obvious username similarities, that account also liked to tweak articles about different ethnic groups. Relatively new user has been referencing Wikipolicies such as wp:AC and has been making edits to topics related to the Exodus and Moses, two subjects which a Sprayitchyo sock user:Epf2018 was involved in. Both show a similar POV and wording:

  1. Obsession with a single source/scholar (Faust 2015) paired sometimes with Redford or others: [29], [30], [31], [32], [33], vs. [34], [35], [36], [37]
  2. This includes an obsession with authority or respect of said source: [38] These quotes are from biased, minimalist perspectives who have nowhere near the authority of the likes of Dever, Finkelstein or Faust vs. [39] AND I have a highly respected source - Faust - [40] as if it somehow overrides highly respected scholars like Faust and Shaw.
  3. Both Epf2018 and Greumaich have been involved in other articles regarding ancient and modern peoples/anthropology or genetics: [41] [42], [43], vs. [44] [45]. Sprayitchyo and their other socks were involved in similar areas, i.e. [46]
  4. edits on medieval topics [47], vs. [48].
  5. edits about Shetland and Orkney by Greumaich and other confirmed socks [49], [50], [51], [52]
  6. It's also worth noting that both Epf2018 and Greumaich have edit warred.
