Syun respect for music

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

These accounts often edited Japanese idol groups such as Nogizaka46 and Hinatazaka46, using a mobile device. User:Rising Sun From IZUMO and User:倉下月海 got indef blocked by a checkuser at the same time on 25 November 2019. On 1 December 2019, User:Syun respect for music, who got indef blocked 4 months ago and had been stale since then, suddenly left a message on his/her user talk page, where he/she wrote, "JOYFUL LOVE is an English character. Let's get it back" (diff). On 25 November 2019, Rising Sun From IZUMO replaced "Joyful Love" with "JOYFUL LOVE" on Kyun (song) (diff1, diff2). Furthermore, Syun respect for music's article about a member of Nogizaka46 is similar to Rizing Sun from IZUMO's draft about a member of Hinatazaka46 (diff3, diff4; e.g. "Her entertainment career began in ..." and "She has also been selected to appear in advertising campaigns for ...").

In the Japanese Wikipedia, ja:User:Rising Sun From IZUMO and ja:User:倉下月海 got indef blocked by a checkuser at the same time on 2 February 2019, and ja:User:Syun respect for music got indef blocked on 20 August 2017.

I suspect these three accounts have been operated by the same person. I am requesting CU to confirm the connection between Syun respect for music and other two accounts before they become stale again. 153.228.179.189 (talk) 21:50, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Syun respect for music (talk · contribs) has been indefinitely blocked from editing the English Wikipedia since 24 July 2019. The user often edited the articles related to the Japanese idol groups Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46, and Hinatazaka46. The user created Yūki Yoda (a member of Nogizaka46), Sing Out! (song) (a single by Nogizaka46), Boku dake no Kimi: Under Super Best (a compilation album by Nogizaka46), and Do Re Mi Sol La Si Do (a single by Hinatazaka46). When editing the talk page, the user added "TALK" to the edit summary (diff, diff). The user's edits have been always tagged "mobile edit" and "mobile web edit".

R5E7D9I4C1A0Y3U4S2T7I8M (talk · contribs)'s account was created on 12 June 2020. The user often edited the articles related to Nogizaka46, Keyakizaka46, and Hinatazaka46. The user created Miho Watanabe (idol) (a member of Hinatazaka46), as well as Hashiridasu Shunkan (a studio album by Hiragana Keyakizaka46). When editing the talk page, the user added "Talk" to the edit summary (diff, diff). The user's edits have been always tagged "mobile edit" and "mobile web edit".

Also, the same citation style and the identical sentences ("Her entertainment career began in ... when she successfully auditioned for the ... generation of the idol group ..." and "She has also been selected to appear in advertising campaigns for ...") were used in Syun respect for music's first revision of Yūki Yoda (oldid) and R5E7D9I4C1A0Y3U4S2T7I8M's first revision of Miho Watanabe (idol) (oldid).

As for the Japanese Wikipedia, Syun respect for music got indefinitely blocked on 20 August 2017. Since then, the person behind the account keeps abusing multiple accounts and IPs for years. See also the RfC page here. 153.169.19.171 (talk) 15:41, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation I am not going to investigate the behavior here; obviously I can't compare to the master, so Ima leave that to someone else. But I will say that R5E7D9I4C1A0Y3U4S2T7I8M is a perfect match with User:Tahruatasruhchiikiknun and with User:HellMessenger666. If R5 is blocked, then block the others as well. As for R5, I'm about to warn them for promotional editing--and really, for inept editing, since they are clearly not very competent. Drmies (talk) 01:45, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the meantime, another new user, ADMK2008, showed up to cast aspersions on the edits of User:Ganbaruby. CU confirmed that this was also R5 (plus another new account, User:元気田支店長). Again, I can't comment on whether Syun is related to this, but that check showed R5, Tahruatasetc., and ADMK are all the same, and I'm going to block all those accounts. I hope someone can look more closely at behavior to see if this is Syun or not; if not, perhaps a clerk can figure out what to do with this. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 04:12, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yep this is Syun respect for music (also based on left over CU data). Drmies has blocked and I've tagged. Closing. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:13, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Similar editing patterns:

  • Mostly edits pages related to Hinatazaka46, all from mobile web
  • Admitted to only knowing basic English and seems to expect other editors to fix their grammatical mistakes ([1])
  • Most revisions given the same one-word summary (e.g. "fix"), several edits in a row
  • Content directly pasted from Japanese machine translation [2] [3]
  • Disregard for proper formatting such as capitalization and bolding [4], placing efns on section headers [5]
  • Threatening to get other users blocked ([6])

This user is already under investigation at the Japanese Wikipedia ([7]) and has admitted as such ([8]) PetéWarrior (talk) 07:21, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    • [9] (note that the brackets are full width, commonly used in Japanese)
    • After this [10] was cleaned up, they restored it [11] from another sockpuppet.
  • Poorly formatted edits requiring subsequent cleanups [12][13][14][15][16][17]
  • Attempted to slip in blood type information (normal in jawiki but not here) [18] as they've done before [19]

Summer sky after rain is already under investigation at the Japanese Wikipedia ([20]). PetéWarrior (talk) 07:58, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

These IPs also exhibit similar patterns, particularly editing pages related to Hinatazaka46 from mobile web and making successive edits with one-word descriptions. PetéWarrior (talk) 06:51, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Posted on Petewarrior's talk page in Japanese, similar to how other socks speak in Japanese as well, such as 10JIPN10 (see here as well). Requesting CU for sleepers. Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 16:37, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first account wrote a Japanese message on my talk page again [21] and edited the Hinatazaka46 page with the same editing patterns as previous sockpuppets. PetéWarrior (talk) 12:13, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This account is active on Japanese Wikipedia, English Wikipedia, and Wikimedia Commons. Although it was blocked on Japanese Wikipedia as User:Syun respect for music (see this), it continues to edit articles related to Hinatazaka46 and upload files on enwp and Commons. This is also a characteristic of this sockpuppet's behavior.--Motodai (talk) 20:34, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This account was created on the English Wikipedia. Since then, it has only been editing pages mainly related to Hinatazaka46 on the Japanese Wikipedia, including editing to try adding files uploaded by "Self-enlightenment215" (globally locked as Syun) to Wikimedia Commons.--Motodai (talk) 19:54, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
