Hundreds of project articles with old issues

[edit]

Currently 434 of our articles (6.2% of the total) have old cleanup issues (from 2013 and earlier). Since this can be considered a backlog, I'm going to add this to our project alerts. Everyone reading please feel free to help whittle this number down by addressing the issues. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 22:11, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to everyone fixing issues in our articles!

[edit]

For the first time since March, the total number of cleanup issues is below 3,300.Thanks to everyone who has addressed issues in project-included articles! Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 02:03, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Past Week's Hot Edits list redesigned

[edit]

The Past Week's Hot Edits list in the infobox on the front page has been redesigned:

  1. I'm no longer depending on a specific bot and instead using a general purpose bot that fills in the {{Database report}} template. In the past year, I've become a lot more acquainted with the wiki database and how to write queries against it, so this redesign puts that learning to good use. It's smarter to use a general purpose bot that gets wider use, since whenever it goes down, it gets a higher administrative priority to address.
  2. Because I was more in control of the design, I was able to add another column showing our assessment rating for each article.

This list will update once a day like the previous version did. Please let me know if you have any questions. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 04:45, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move of current major backlogs plus two new reports

[edit]

Due to minor technical issues, I recently moved the list of current major backlogs out from alerts and into its own section on the project's front page. As of now, the table keeps track of

  1. Cleanup issues
  2. Stubs needing expansion or reassessment
  3. Possibly undercategorized articles
  4. Articles with old cleanup issues
  5. Photo/image requests

Also, I have created two new reports:

  1. LeastLinkDense, a list of WikiProject Louisville's 500 least link-dense articles. Use this list to discover articles that need more internal mainspace links or have peculiar issues that manifest themselves with a low link density. Note: This is linked from the project navigator as "Underlinked?".
  2. LeastLinkedTo, a list of WikiProject Louisville's least linked to articles. These are WikiProject Louisville-included articles with five or fewer incoming links from mainspace (ns0) pages – primarily articles but also redirects and disambiguation pages (anything that is in mainspace). Use this list to discover articles that need more incoming linkage to be better connected to the rest of the Wikipedia.

Photo/image requests

[edit]

I've gone through and updated/sanitized our photo requests across the project. We currently have 320 such requests. See this Tasks department section for details. Info also appears in the "Current major backlogs" section on the front page. Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 23:07, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm retiring from Wikipedia

[edit]

As a courtesy, I'm letting anyone still around here know I'm leaving Wikipedia for good. Whoever wants to take over this wikiproject - it's now yours. Just note that Wikipedia doesn't really support wikiprojects any longer - nobody says it out loud, but it is a site direction I have gleaned from all the naysaying about them and minimal support, even though in my judgment Wikipedia needs these now more than ever. Good luck! Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 06:59, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
