Lists

I have made all the "List of X" articles that have yet to receive a class rating 'list class' as I believe this is the only logical class to put them in. -- Spazturtle !DERP/3/PiM Talk 03:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Articles

I have been to every listed article and both added Template tags where needed and classified the article on quality and importance scales. Not that it's likely any of the articles besides MLP:FIM will ever be visited.ReecyBoy42 (talk) 16:35, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

I am pretty sure this project was never made just to benefit Friendship is Magic. Sure, it's a top priority, but so are the other generations. Rainbow Dash !xmcuvg2MH 12:28, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
I know it wasn't made just for Friendship is Magic, but it's just that it seems to me not much else will be done with the other generations, what with them being, put bluntly, inferior to G4. I may be wrong, and I indeed hope I am wrong, and that the other articles get some much-needed attention, but as I said, I can't see it happening any time soon. My Little Pony

I think you ought to get to cleaning up, referencing, and structuring My Little Pony if any of you are knowledgeable about the subject. -IsaacAA (talk) 21:08, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

I just flicked through the article; you're right, it needs help. I guess if we can round up the members and focus our efforts, we could clean it up somewhat. Unfortunately, I really haven't the time to be heavily researching and structuring an article at the moment, so I can't exactly help with the big stuff, but I'll try and get some copyediting done in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, perhaps put a heading on the WikiProject page informing everyone that that's our focus article for the time being? I don't know how many seriously informed My Little Pony fans we have here, but I guess every bit helps. ReecyBoy42 (talk) 12:11, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Some G3 Movie articles plus list of characters are a Mess

From My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas to My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure needs to be rewritten. And also get rid of ParaSprites, especially one user who ruins everything. Oh and List of My Little Pony characters would need professional attention. Blackgaia02 (Talk if you're Worthy) (talk) 16:08, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

I thought you guys might take an interest in this, managed to find and organize chronologically winged unicorns over the years leading up to Celestia and Luna. B-Class checklist for WikiProject Animation

Greeting, I am a coordinator for WikiProject Animation. A B-Class checklist has been added to the project banner, along with the work group text, including the importance function. The B-Class checklist will include 6 point parameters to assess against the criteria. If you have any questions, please discuss at our talk page. Thank for your time. Overall low quality of this project

It appears that the project members are inserting a lot of unsourced information into articles, confusing MLP generations with television series, and overall just push for more exposure instead of higher quality, often at the expense of accuracy, correctness, and verifiability. Please remedy this behavior. –Throwawaytv (talk) 10:32, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Several of these articles may end up being merged, or deleted. I think having individual articles for each pony is highly questionable. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 11:30, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
  • I am also concerned many of the character articles seem to be sourced to fansites of questionable quality. I fear any person trying to do anything about it will face an uphill struggle. Because AFDs have been done already recently and the verdicts for mergers have been ignored. So you are against some hardcore inclusionists. Dwanyewest (talk) 22:59, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Is there anywhere that we can go with our concerns? I doubt the pony-fans are going to listen to us ("fanboys gonna fanboy"). My concern is that they're treating wikipedia as if it were a fan wiki, and ignoring concepts such as notability--Harizotoh9 (talk) 07:39, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

The only places I feel any concerns will be seriously addressed will be Wikipedia talk:Notability and Wikipedia talk:Dispute resolution noticeboard. I think and any concerned parties will get a fair hearing will be Wikipedia talk:Dispute resolution noticeboard so I might start a discussion there if anyone is interested inclusionist and deletionist alike. Dwanyewest (talk) 08:04, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

    • WP:SOFIXIT, including finding academic texts and fully exploiting them, like Wood, Walton. "The Empirical Twilight: A Pony's Guide to Science & Anarchism." Now List of My Little Pony characters is in the Wikipedia:Lamest Edit Wars! Are we all ashamed of this now? D: --Blackgaia02 (Talk if you're Worthy) (talk) 02:29, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Well ain't that just dandy. I'm rather disappointed with the behaviour of certain members of this fandom when operating on Wikipedia, and here's another reason why. ReecyBoy42 (talk) 05:01, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Well just because me and Tama Fan always argue on the colors of each pony. I know is this: The colors in both G1-3.5 animation is sometimes incorrect. It causes problems with the toy continuity.--Blackgaia02 (Talk if you're Worthy) (talk) 08:06, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Redirecting inadequately notable & inadequately sourced pony articles back to List of... articles - from Wikipedia talk:Dispute resolution noticeboard

The following discussion took place at talk:drn; that was probably not the best place for it, and so I've moved it back here;

I am deeply concerned of what I see is a proliferation of poor quality articles such as Spike (My Little Pony) , Minty (My Little Pony), Starsong (My Little Pony) which little to no third person sources to support their notability. Wikipedia:WikiProject My Little Pony seems to an inclusionist excuse to be their own personal fan wiki rather than creating veritable quality articles. 08:17, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Dwanyewest (talk)

Given that there are articles like Wood, Walton. "The Empirical Twilight: A Pony's Guide to Science & Anarchism." ImageTexT: Interdisciplinary Comics Studies. 6.1 (2011): n. pag. Dept of English, University of Florida. 18 December 2011. Web. in double blind peer reviewed journals, many of these characters may be more verifiable than you realise. Fifelfoo (talk) 08:33, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

The Onus is on the person who created the My Little Pony individual characters but refuse or won't do anything to add sources to justify the articles. That's the problem with inclusionism its easy to create articles but next to impossible to get rid of poor or unnecessary articles. If you are prepare to create the articles you should be justify it. "The Empirical Twilight: A Pony's Guide to Science & Anarchism." ImageTexT: Interdisciplinary Comics Studies. 6.1 (2011): n. pag. Dept of English, University of Florida. 18 December 2011 is not gonna cover all the characters so far. Dwanyewest (talk) 23:17, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

PROD and AfD exist to challenge the retention of articles you find to be of dubious notability. In my view, there's not much article-space competition for the name Spike (My Little Pony) and I'm happy enough to see such fancruft exist there. But as your milage varies, I suggest you take one of the article to AfD to see what the community thinks. (This all presupposes you've tried to engage with the little pony community. If you have not, you might wish to, perhaps suggesting that they confine their nags to a List of my little pony characters article. --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:59, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
re the Walton Wood paper, that is indeed a surprising level of serious commentary on MLP. However that's still only a source for the content it includes, and where it's cited. These articles are a long way beyond that in places, with serious in-universe problems. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:23, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I fear it will be pointless discussing these problems with the MLP community or using AFD'S as they will be ignored see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Minty (My Little Pony) and be filled with fansites with aren't reliable sources or articles which have little to do with the indvidual characters they are supposed to be discussing. Dwanyewest (talk) 03:46, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I am going start the ball rolling by maybe nominating some these dreadful characters and no fansites don't count as reliable sources. Dwanyewest (talk) 04:39, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Fanbois & girls do not get the option to ignore the outcomes of AfDs. If a merge is the outcome, then we need to serve notice that the substantive article will be changed to a redirect to the "list of" article, make the change, and then keep the redirect page on watchlists lest it be reverted. I'll start to do this this evening (about 3 hours time, I think). If you know of other AfDs with merge or delete outcomes which have not been acted on, list them here and we'll start dealing with them. --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:00, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Question Could someone please point me in the direction of discussion about Dispute Resolution Noticeboard? I know that people have their own worlds that they express fanatical interest in, but opening a discussion here is not productive and is opening a battlefield mentality. Now if a DRN posting citing disregard for the previous consensus of merging was opened, we could have a discussion. Hasteur (talk) 15:27, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I believe Dwanyewest has had run-ins with the brony community - I've certainly seen him on List of My Little Pony characters (which I have on my watchlist because I must have sinned in a previous life). The problem is he hasn't formatted this correctly to pick up which editors and include diffs. Dwanye, just redirect all the articles to the list article - that's what it's there for, and if they argue, take it to AfD. Elen of the Roads (talk) 16:39, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
I concur — including the remark about past life sins — and would note that while this discussion could, indeed, probably be taking place at a better location, brony issues have popped up here at DRN at least twice (here and here). Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 16:48, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
My question was driving at why the idea was being hatched on the DRN Talk page instead of at other locations. Per the talk page notice The purpose of this page is to discuss Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard. If your post is about a specific problem you have, please ask for help at the Wikipedia:Help desk or see the New Contributors' Help Page. My main concern was potentially being used as a co-ordination site for target actions (Much like Article Rescue Squadron) and possibly being branded as a anti-MLP hangout. Hasteur (talk) 18:01, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

The long and short of it is, an AfD - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Minty (My Little Pony) - recommended merging that individual pony article back to a List of article; but no action was taken (before today). There are a number of other pony articles as lacking in WP:RS and WP:N as was poor Minty. The suggestion is that action should now be taken to redirect all such articles on sight to their corresponding List of article. It follows, presumably, that any member of this project or in fact anyone, can revert those redirects, and anticipate that the article will then be taken to AfD to solicit a wider community decision. Based on the Minty precedent and the interest now taken in the issue of ponies allegedly lacking notability at WP:DRN the probability must be that AfDs for articles with characteristics similar to Minty will be closed as merge. It's will be incumbent on anyone who wishes to see these articles preserved to demonstrate notability with reference to reliable sources. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:32, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

As far as I can see Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie are the only characters with any kind of credible sourcing. I don think Pinkie Pie should use the academic source better, but at least there is source a useful source to justify notability. Fluttershy still needs to go or better sources need to be found. If any new character articles are going to be recreated I believe there needs to be a aggressive search for reliable sources that are not incidental and aren't fansites. The last statement I would like to make I think more sources need to be found for My Little Pony (TV series) and My Little Pony Tales. Dwanyewest (talk) 21:48, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't but any of them. The references in Rainbow Dash are about homophobia and racism, and mention RB only as an example. The academic paper uses PP again only as an illustration of a concept. No refs for F. Can't see why any would stay; none pass WP:GNG for me. --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:05, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Well that's a bit stupid. That means all the MLP characters CAN'T have their own pages due to their sources? Well that's THE ONLY sources I can find. And none of the Bronies would dare touching Gens 1-3.5--Blackgaia02 (Talk if you're Worthy) (talk) 13:44, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Yup. That's the way that wikipedia works. It selects articles that have references that justify their notability, and repudiates articles that have no such sources. A tough but fair approach which prevents an accumulation of fancruft. --Tagishsimon (talk) 08:31, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Well, color me skeptical. I am not entirely convinced your interest in this wikiproject is genuine. According to your user page:

Wikipedia calls me "The President of the GNAA" and thus I may have a WP:COI with anything I edit on Wikipedia. Feel free to bring it up with me!

We've had issues with the GNAA vandalizing MLP pages before. See above. And your user box says:

Which is a common accusation leveled against "bronies" by people who don't like them. I'll be monitoring your edits for the time being and report any suspicious edits. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 22:06, 31 January 2012 (UTC) Also, the user who invited you was User:Princess Derpy, which was a vandalism account possibly linked to the GNAA. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 22:09, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WP:VG comments subpages cleanup

Hi, there is currently a discussion taking place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#VG comments subpages regarding whether it would be acceptable to permanently shift all comments subpages associated with WP:VG articles into talk. This shift would follow the recommended approach given at WP:DCS. The WikiProject My Little Pony articles that would be affected by this action are these:

If you have objections related specifically to WikiProject My Little Pony's use of these subpages, please make this clear at the discussion so that other unrelated talk pages can be cleaned up where appropriate. Thank you. -Thibbs (talk) 15:56, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (film series) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/My Little Pony: Equestria Girls (film series) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 17:27, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Problematic redirects from character names

Some pages for characters that are featured in Friendship Is Magic as well as prior media adaptations redirect to the list of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic characters; others redirect to the grand list of My Little Pony characters (or its derivative list of mainline My Little Pony ponies and list of My Little Pony Earth ponies). Some are even inconsistent. (My favorite is My Little Pony: The Wonderbolts vs. The Wonderbolts vs. Wonderbolts.)

Where should these point? Perhaps we should follow the precedent of Rainbow Dash?

Oh my god it's Pokemon all over again... :D But per WP:PRIME, the current generation, to use your term, is much more likely to be the subject of searches; and hence is the primary topic. So disambiguation is as simple as adding an appropriate dab template to List of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic characters#Rainbow Dash.

I think a bot is going to archive this soon, so I've started working on the Wonderbolts redirects. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 06:03, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

There is a dispute over what network the fifth season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will air on. Some say it's Discovery Family, because reruns already air on the network, and Hasbro is "100% committed" to the network. However, it appears that they have been moving away from the network because Transformers: Robots in Disguise is airing on Cartoon Network. Other users say that it will air on Boomerang. They now target girls/young kids. I added hidden notes that information needs to be cited. Hasbro hasn't announced which network it will air on. What are your views? A new newsletter directory is out!

A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Inactivity

Hi everypony! This project was marked as inactive back in 2015 before it was revived in 2017. However, I think it may become inactive again. There has been no activity on the talk page (not counting this message) for over three years, the last non-automated message being posted back in 2018. Per WP:INACTIVEWP, this project may be considered inactive. The project itself hasn't received much attention, receiving an average of 2 pageviews per day. A link I think may be useful for preventing a project from becoming inactive is WP:REVIVE which may be used after the project goes inactive as well. I really hope this project doesn't become inactive but the future appears pretty bleak. @Padgriffin: You can help us complete/update our to do list (see #Equestria below for ways to clean-up Equestria), make sure all MLP-related things are tagged with {{WikiProject My Little Pony}} and ask users from other related WikiProjects to join (I'd suggest WikiProject Toys and WikiProject Television). Also, you can help update the assessment of our articles at WP:MLP#Articles. Pamzeis (talk) 02:34, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello, yes. Hi. I sometimes edit things as I see fit or if there's a small error, but I don't often have time to make big edits. Thank you for the ping. Dogman15 (talk) 10:32, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
I'm still, alive. Found this without getting pinged, so. :D Related to MLP, I mostly translate stuff from the English Wikipedia to Turkish, along the way sometimes fixing dead links on articles I translate. ~StyyxTalk? ^-^ 19:54, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Italics or not for franchises?

Should the names of franchises like "My Little Pony" and "Equestria Girls" be italicized?

The titles of My Little Pony and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls are italicized because they use {{infobox media franchise}}, which italicizes the title, and I've tried to make at least some of the textual references consistent. (My Little Pony in particular is still rather inconsistent.) However, most of the textual references (both in those articles and other articles) are not italicized.

So, which should it be? I'm leaning towards not italicized, but I don't want to go around un-italicizing everything just yet. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 00:39, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

I think they should be italicised since they are titles of works (see MOS:ITALICS). Pamzeis (talk) 02:43, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
I take that back. Apparently, franchises are not usually italicised but when referring to the TV series and such they should be. Pamzeis (talk) 14:14, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Unleash the Fanboy/Daniel Alvarez

Recently, I've been looking if any other FIM episodes could be created. I've struggled to find notability; however, I found a number of reviews written by Daniel Alvarez on Unleash the Fanboy. I'm doubtful of Unleash the Fanboy's reliability; however, Alvarez writes for Screen Rant which is considered a marginally reliable source per WP:RSP. Would reviews written by Alvarez be considered reliable? Thanks. Pamzeis (talk) 06:18, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

I'd say yes. I think we should really create an article for "The Last Problem". ~StyyxTalk? ^-^ 17:05, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
For "The Last Problem" (and "The Ending of the End"), I can't find many reviews but I found these [1][2][3][4] which I'm not sure will account towards notability as they seem to be talking more about the finale special as a whole rather than the episodes (maybe we could create an article on the special?). However, I wouldn't really be sure what to put in the article as it would fall under WP:ALLPLOT with just these sources. We could probably find stuff on the production in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic — A Decade of Pony (which I haven't watched so correct me if I'm wrong). I guess the reception section could include this, this or this? The latters are based off IMDb and reported by Screen Rant so I don't think they should be used. Anyways, I've created a draft for "Games Ponies Play" which should meet notability guidelines if reviews by Alvarez are considered reliable. However, Wikipedia:Notability (television) seems to be putting episode articles at a higher standard (see WT:TV#Episode notability suggestions). Any thoughts? Thanks. Pamzeis (talk) 01:47, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
@Pamzeis: Apologies, I completely forgot about this discussion. If you aren't working on it, I think I can expand the plot at Draft:Games Ponies Play tomorrow. ~StyyxTalk? ^-^ 19:18, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Go right ahead! Plot summaries aren't really my thing anyways. Pamzeis (talk) 04:38, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Equestria

Hey everypony, Do any of y’all have ideas on how to clean up the Equestria page? We have a whole lotta improperly formatted sources, some original work, and all of its written in an in-universe style (which I actually kinda like, but is a no no for Wikipedia, I guess). Any ideas? -Navarre0107 (talk) 14:40, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

So, I'll start off with the refs:
refs 13–26, 28–32, 35, 38, 41–60, 64–70, 74–76, 84–91, 97–107, 111–124, 128, 130–133, 135, 137, 138, 140–144, 147–149, 153, 155, 170, 176–179, 182, 186, 187: they seem to be books/films/episodes/games/specials which are just written out. They need to be changed to {{cite episode}} (for episodes), {{cite book}} (for books), {{cite AV media}} (for films and specials) and {{cite video game}} (for games).
The date formats are inconsistent, most being yyyy-mm-dd, some being dmy, though they should mdy.
61, 62, 63, 71, 72, 73, 77: not inline and seem to be blogs/fansites
While it's not required, the episodes and YouTube videos may have time-stamps for readers/editors to find the places we're referring to more easily.
A lot of the refs are missing |first= and |last= parameters.
With the in-universe style, I'd suggest looking at GAs on fictional locations (e.g. Rohan (Middle-earth)) to see how they are structured. I think it's fine to add some in-universe content but there needs to some real-word content accompanying it. I think most of the sections need to be shortened down with in-universe context and replaced with real-world context.
The WP:OR is really all over the place.
When is it mentioned Princess Luna is the Princess of dreams, Princess Cadance is the Princess of family and Twilight is the Princess of magic? If it is, these statements need to be sourced (preferably with time-stamps).
I know Ponish is English under a different name but is there a source which mentions this? It's unlikely that the series itself would (which is currently the source).
Every item in the history section should be sourced.
There are large parts of the inhabitants, government, culture and land beyond Equestria sections which are unsourced.
Also, the Infobox should be {{Infobox fictional location}}, not {{Infobox fictional organisation}}. Pamzeis (talk) 02:21, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
A helpful link to writing this article is Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Writing about fiction. Pamzeis (talk) 06:11, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
I just added a lot of {{citation needed}} and some {{better source needed}} tags. Pamzeis (talk) 04:43, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
"When is it mentioned Princess Luna is the Princess of dreams, Princess Cadance is the Princess of family and Twilight is the Princess of magic?" Even though I would describe Princess Cadance as the "Princess of Love", since that's how I think she was introduced to the show, the reference to her being "of Family" comes from the deleted opening of the movie: https://derpibooru.org/images/2185889 I think it was written this way for outsiders who weren't familiar with the show or the characters, and also to contrast it with Twilight, since Celestia and Luna were very understandably introduced as being "one for the day, and one for the night". I might also add that it flows really well into the original opening the film had. Dogman15 (talk) 09:24, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Well, even if this comes from a deleted opening scene, I don't see anyway of verifying it. Firstly, the videos don't seem to have been uploaded by official/reliable channels and, secondly, if it was deleted, that just may mean they decided Cadance was not the Princess of Family. Sorry, but I don't really see that as verifiable. Pamzeis (talk) 10:17, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
So you're saying you think the videos I linked are faked? They're reuploads of content created by Hasbro. Dogman15 (talk) 21:13, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
No, I do not think that they are fakes but I think they are unusable as sources. We can't use as a WP:SOURCE since its not only the work (the video) and the creator (Hasbro) that contributes to reliability but also the publisher (a fan). Unless we can find an official/reliable sources publishing it, we can not use it as a source. Pamzeis (talk) 02:59, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
So you're saying you think they're edited. Whatever. Dogman15 (talk) 08:28, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

You're missing my point: these videos are self-published by fans. They do not qualify for use as a WP:SPS as they are not produced by an established subject-matter expert, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable, independent publications. (emphasis in original) Pamzeis (talk) 13:27, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

BuySomeApples currently appears to be cleaning up and removing superfluous information from the article. Pamzeis (talk) 08:13, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Peer review

Sorry for the kind of random message, but if anybody is willing to, I would greatly appreciate comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic/archive6. I've opened the peer review up before hopefully nominating it for FAC. Even one small comment would help me a lot. If you are unable to or don't want to, it's totally understandable and fine; you're not obligated to do anything. Thanks either way. Pamzeis (talk) 07:21, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

I will make a consensus to this. Do we believe we should make an article My Little Pony: Make Your Mark on Wikipedia before the release of the animated special on Netflix later this month, and so does the animated series in September? --Allen (talk / ctrb) 05:30, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

I repeat. Do we think we should make an article on Wikipedia about a Netflix animated special of Make Your Mark before it is premiered on Netflix next week? That will be a sequel and follow-up to A New Generation film. --Allen (talk / ctrb) 04:32, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Allen2, I found this while stalking your contributions for the "activity review" of the project. :D We already have a draft on the series, so if the special is going to get its own article, it should be titled My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (special). However I'm sort of confused: this source (which I have no clue about its reliability) says "Make Your Mark will release at the end of May and in September", implying that they are the same thing? The only available sources about the special are just trailer announcements like these: [5], [6], [7], including a large chunk of Netflix quotes. I don't know what we will be able to write about apart from the plot, as there is almost nothing related to development. Perhaps we should wait until it comes out for some reviews? ~StyyxTalk? 10:47, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
