Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 92.236.221.139 (talk) at 19:41, 6 January 2012 (PO SUM ON). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions nor to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions), or in "articles for deletion" debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Scroogle

After two years, I feel that Scroogle users and contributors have markedly increased (350.000 searches everyday), and I personally know many people from different surroundings who use it daily. I'm concerned that that page was deleted, first because was useful, second because it has an Alexa rank higher than MediaWiki. I believe we have to give it another chance. --Ogoorcs (talk) 12:08, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When I went to create the article I saw that stubs had been speedied years ago for notability concerns. There is now no reason to keep these versions out of the history, and I would like to see whatever attempts were made at this article before (however unsuccessful). -▫ JohnnyMrNinja 22:56, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Living the Questions

Not sure who put the deletion process in motion and have been unsuccessful in tracking that person down in the "articles for deletion" process archives. I believe the deletion of the article was unjustified. I only discovered the article was deleted when I went to add multiple attestations in recently published books that clearly support an already established notability of the subject. As I am only an occasional Wikipedian, any help or suggestions would be welcomed! Thank you. -Higgledeepiggledee (talk) 18:33, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. The deletion was proposed by Lionelt, mostly on the grounds that the only "sources" were self-published; and was unchallenged by anybody else. You should provide those impartial third-party sources as soon as possible, as the notability had clearly not been as clearly established as you believed. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:11, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An administrator told me that the article was considered to be notable, though there are some issues. Days after an administrator deleted my article because of a blatant hoax. But why? They didn't even give me any further notice that they will delete the article. They didn't even give me any news that the article was already deleted. -Sojdfsdf (talk) 06:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question: Could you point me to where you were told the subject was notable by anyone? I'm unable to see any type of notability at all for the subject. The subject does not appear to meet the fairly strict requirements on English Wikipedia, and I can see that the same article was spammed (and deleted) across many other independent language Wikipedias (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted because it did not originally meet the book legitimacy criteria on Wikipedia. I am editing information about myself.

This file was deleted from One Day at a Time under grounds that the non-free image consisted of a copyright-ineligible logo. However, per WP:non-free content review#File:I Love Lucy Titlecard.png, there is a debate between replacing and keeping on the basis of (ir)replaecability of non-free title cards. There must be a recovery of this image if kept alive in admin data. Then when time goes by, this may be put under review. -George Ho (talk) 00:51, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not clear what you're asking. What do your last two sentences mean? Nyttend (talk) 04:33, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I created this image from publicly available information that was free of copyright (the image was created by the government of the state of Missouri). I overlayed the image with hand-drawn boundary lines to create a derivative work. If I recall correctly, I placed the derived image in the public domain after I created it (although I can't seem to view that meta-data since the image was deleted). If it's necessary, I also hereby license the image under the Creative Commons license. -Diabolical_Mdog (talk) 02:51, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done and will not be done Works by US state governments (except for Minnesota and Florida) are copyrighted and not released freely, so derivative works cannot be freely licensed. Of course, a unique image owned by a US state can fall under fair use claims, but a simple state map is definitely replaceable. Please go to http://www2.census.gov/geo/maps/general_ref/cousub_outline/cen2k_pgsz/mo_cosub.pdf and take a screenshot of the county-level map on the first page: this is a public domain work of the US Government and should serve your purposes just as well as the nonfree state-owned map. Since it's not burdened with a sharealike clause, you may release your derivative work into the public domain, or you may use any of the Attribution or Attribution-Sharealike Creative Commons licenses. Edwin Dyer

I am presently editing fr:Michel Germaneau and I need information about Edwin Dyer (in particular when he died) and reliable sources about Edwin Dyer, and could not find any in the English language Wikipedia. It seems to me that the decision to remove the article entirely without merging into the article redirected to was not appropriate, especially as this was a second deletion request following a first one which was inconclusive. Please merge. -Teofilo talk 14:34, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

El Pomar Foundation

a)- I did not know there was a prod so unable to contest. b)- Reasons for deletion were "Expired PROD, concern was: small local charity, does not appear to fulfil WP:ORG". c)- Reasons to keep: The article concerns an area of significant interest to the entire state of Colorado both current and historically. The foundation was formed in 1937 and has supported many cultural and civic institutions throughout Colorado. With close to 500 million dollars ($471,530,109.00; 2010 Form 990-PF) in assets and annual grant disbursements close to 20 million dollars ($18,778,434; 2010 Form 990-PF) the "charity" is not exactly small or local.

The El Pomar foundation administers the "El Pomar Carriage Museum", the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun, and the "Penrose House" which is used by local, state, national, and international organizations.

The foundation also administers:

  • Anna Keesling Ackerman Fund; providing local grants to nonprofit organizations.
  • The Hambrick Fund; provides grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado for the "prevention of cruelty to animals, educational programs for the proper care of and attention to animals, and research grants and assistance in these regards".
  • Karl E. Eitel Fund; funds various Colorado state "youth at risk" programs.
I believe the deleted article may be able to be enhanced (or the alternative rewritten) to provide encyclopedic content with current and historical significance. In the future I plan to create an article on co-founder "Julie Penrose" and it will include a section on the foundation.
  • Supports
    Central City Opera
    Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.
Regional Partnership Program: 9 regional councils that give advice to the trustees. The program provided 1.6 million in grants in 2011.
Wildland Fire Fund; has provided over 2.7 million in statewide grants to 170 volunteer fire departments.
Colorado state Boys and Girls clubs.
  • Coverage satisfies WP:ORG: There is extensive coverage including: News articles; www.gazette.com- many multiple times, www.chieftain.com, www.bcdemocratonline.com, www.alamosanews.com, www.vaildaily.com, www.canoncitydailyrecord.com, www.lajuntatribunedemocrat.com ). TV coverage (www.kjct8.com/news). Radio; www.kunc.org.(91.5). Ethnic organizations; (www.hispania-news.com (Hispanic), www.nationaljewish.org (Jewish), www.coloradospringsindiancenter.com (Indian). Other organizations; www.foundationcenter.org (Philanthropy news Digest), www.aims.edu (Aims Community College), www.bizjournals.com (Denver Business Journal), www.spacefoundation.org.
There are many more not listed to satisfy ORG. -Otr500 (talk) 16:14, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This template is used for a tool on the Toolserver. The URL of the Tool is

http://toolserver.org/~geohack/skyhack.php

This tool is linked on more than 2000 (!) Pages in the german WP. The script has been moved before. maybe, important informations to prevent deleting have been lost at that time. Antonsusi (talk) 18:57, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think, that "two weeks ago" is a well argument for "Not done" (without a view on my arguments) , when that weeks are at the end of a year (over christmas, where users are in holyday or so). The deletion request was simply not seen from me or other user of the german WP. Also, therefore there has not been a really discussion, only a request and a decide later. The damaging of a tool is a well argument for undeleting. You and any other admin here can see easyly even more than two weeks later, that this deletion was an error. Antonsusi (talk) 20:17, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The template was deleted based on a discussion where no one other than the nominator participated, on the (apparently mistaken) assertion that it is unused. In my opinion, it should simply be restored as useful to some and harmless to all. That being said, since it's used by 'all projects', wouldn't it make more sense to be placed at meta? –xenotalk 20:38, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That needs an adjust of the PHP-script on the toolserver and I've no access to the script. The last user, that has made an edit (when I remember well), was User:Kolossos. I can ask him, but as first step the template shoudt be undeleted to make the tool as quickly as possible usable. The next step is an adjusting of the script to use annother template page. Antonsusi (talk) 22:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: I've provisionally restored this template, as it is being actively used for the betterment of Wikimedia projects. I still think it should be migrated over to meta, but for now it should not be deleted. –xenotalk 14:04, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I wish it weren't the case, but bureaucracy is big enough here that I fear that people will object that Xeno's comment above makes him/her involved. For that reason, I redeleted the template and immediately restored it, since I've never done anything with it before nor even mentioned it in my writing. Better to obviate possible complaints than to have to face them after they're made. Nyttend (talk) 03:02, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Grepolis

I strongly believe that page should not be deleted. In my opinion the A7 is not applicable for this case, since the mentioned article is as important (or unimportant) as the Travian, Freeciv.net, Evony or any other game from the List_of_multiplayer_browser_games. With the logic every article from List_of_multiplayer_browser_games should be given A7 and deleted.

Additionally it appears that the article has been created and deleted 3 more times in the past, which does not make sense. -LevanJugheli (talk) 05:40, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just a comment — two of the three earlier deletions were G7 (author-requested deletion), so only the first deletion (also an A7) is really debateable. Nyttend (talk) 02:50, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. This has not been deleted: your submission at WP:Articles for creation was declined, but your draft is still available at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Stina Sanders for you to edit and resubmit. Please note, though, that Wikipedia is not a site like Myspace or Facebook for people to write about themselves: you should read Wikipedia:Autobiography, and also WP:Notability and WP:Notability (people). Monetary circuit theory

is a valid article topic -Wbm1058 (talk) 15:16, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand why this article was deleted. The topic is not a hoax (Google it). Several Wikipedia articles link to this article, and they now have red links. The user User:Jmckeon ie who resumed editing on December 24 after over a year hiatus, and proposed deletion on Christmas day retired from Wikipedia on New Years Day?!

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. Salvio Let's talk about it! 15:49, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fenwick & West

Sorry, but could not figure out how to contact admin directly. Admin removed our company's wiki page based on copyright violations, but alleged voilation was descriptive text of our company from our website. We can easily modify descriptive text on Wikipedia to avoid exact duplication of text on our website if that addresses Wikipedia's concern, but entire Fenwick & West wiki page should not have been deleted. -Rkshimako (talk) 15:41, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could I have a copy of the source code restored to my userspace so that I can work on addressing the concerns about the page so its possible for me to move the code to a different Wiki? -Ls883 (talk) 00:27, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It has now been deleted, and will not be restored because Munoz does not meet Wikipedia's notability standard - see WP:NFOOTY for what a footballer needs to have achieved before he can have a WIkipedia article. JohnCD (talk) 09:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Atlas of UTR Regulatory Activity

The page was originally deleted because there was "No independent and reliable cites to support claim of notability". Now ther is a scientific journal (Bioinformatics) peer-reviewed published article that in my opinion qualifies as an independent source. I thus ask you to undelete the page. Thank you very much. -Cibioltg (talk) 09:16, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was the fourth one to re-create the article. After I was done, it was said that it needed a clean-up and minutes later, they deleted the article and they didn't even give me any further notice. So, I recreated it again. Right after I was done, I refreshed it and an administrator said that I vandalised it and contested it for deletion, but after I was done making my reason of why not to delete the article, it was already deleted. And why was the reason that it was vandalised, Yeah, I may say that I re-created it, but I didn't vandalised. Instead, I was giving more verifiable resources for the article. -Oidsofipsd (talk) 12:51, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this page was deleted in accordance with criterion for speedy deletion A7. •  Not done As per the original AFD, the player does not meet the notability requirements under WP:FOOTY, in part because he does not play for a fully-professional team. Just because the article for creation passed general layout, does not mean that the player meets notability requirements yet. Until such time as he meets notability requirements, I have protected the article name from creation. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 15:34, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
