Tamil Nadu
Is it proper to say Tamilnadu/TamilNadu? If not, there are a ton of pages that have it. The animated graphic of 4 tildes on your talk's edit page looks like a mustache. Same mustache off of a Pringles can. Bgwhite (talk) 07:31, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Dennis Ayling
Dear Titodutta,
Thank you for your note. Could you please let me know which parts of the article that I've submitted about my father Dennis Ayling require more citations? The first paragraph seems indisputable to me and the only part that seems to me to perhaps not be readily verifiable is the first sentence of the second paragraph referring to his career of 50 years plus, in commercials. I have all of his references from the 1930s to the 1950s, proving at least the first part of my assertion, and I think IMDb covers the second half. Could you please advise? Surely I can't cite letters of recommendation? I think this is the fourth time this article has been declined and I really don't think I'm making any great claims in it. I'm only trying to help in adding it, so that where he is referred to in Wikipedia you have somewhere to link to. I've tried citing this page too, but am told it's not acceptable: http://www.zen171398.zen.co.uk/Alien%20%28page4%29.html
Many thanks!
Tim Ayling (talk) 06:27, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
I can't do that, I'm afraid, as there aren't any articles of that kind. With respect I think the editors on this site are being far too pedantic about the very small claims I am making, which are fact as I am talking about my father. I give up and am happy to let IMDb be the authoritative source on his career.

- Sure, but what I do in similar examples to yours here, is bring up the actual article page to find clues and then go back in the history if required.
My example does not require a source because being fiction, the episodes of Casualty (TV series) are the source.

Duplicate article - Ei Samay and Ei Samay Sangbadpatra
Dear Tito,
Thanks for your reply.
Your article about Ei Samay , the Bengali newspaper of Times Group, to my knowledge, was created by you without verifying whether an article under this name exists or not.
I had created a page called "Ei Samay Sangbadpatra" a long time back before this particular page on the same subject was created by you. And that is the reason why I proposed the article for deletion. As I had said earlier, it was a duplicate article and it should either be deleted or merged with the following link :::
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ei_Samay_Sangbadpatra
I cannot merge your article without your consent, and I don't want other users to get confused when they search for the correct page regarding the above subject. So, I request you to please either totally merge your article with the link mentioned above, or delete it. (No hard feelings, pal. We are all contributors)

Freedda (talk) 18:21, 19 January 2013 (UTC) why did you completely change my entry on the Asaram Bapu wiki page
Freedda (talk) 18:21, 19 January 2013 (UTC) why did you completely change my entry on the Asaram Bapu wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asaram_Bapu? Seems a bit unfair that you completely deleted my entry and replaced it with yours. Would you like it if I did the same?
You have explained that my post suffered from POV abuse? and external links. I added no external links, only reference to the news articles that I referenced and quoted in my entry. As to POV, first, I don't know if you're referring to my entry or to the entire article; second, all entries have a POV, none of us are neutral. Mine was factual and doesn't seem any more a POV abuse than what you replaced it with. Again, rude, rude, rude.
Thank you for your response to my above comments and what feels like a reasonable 'blending' of both our edits. Regards, David. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freedda (talk • contribs) 18:46, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

I would just like to have you put the information back the way I had it if at all possible? I am in charge of the Richard A. Whitings facebook page and am trying to raise awareness of his existence by providing some information on him with a link to his Facebook page, it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me have the link on the page so as to let people have a way of appreciating him and liking him and learning about his contributions to the world of music. Page started in userspace for Films on Ramakrishna; you are invited
Hello Titodutta: following our recent conversations, I've started a page in userspace about Films on Ramakrishna. Once we can get it in decent shape and make sure notability is clearly evident, then we can move it to article space. In the meanwhile, I've put in info about the 1955 film and created a structure to get things started. But as time becomes available, if you want to start adding info about the other 10 or so films that you have somewhere on your list, that would be super! BTW, on the talk page, I've copied the relevant conversations from the India topics noticeboard as well as Ekabhishek's talk page. This message is to officially invite you to contribute to the page (and to give you permission, since it's in my userspace). The page is HERE: User:Presearch/FaRK. Possibly useful website for Indian populated places?
Hello again Tito!
Refs for mandals and villages in the sub-continent is an ongoing issue.
This ref was cited for Bogada Bhupathipur. It's obviously a National Informatics Centre resource. When I drilled down to http://apland.ap.nic.in, it was in a South Indian language script I'm guessing is Telugu.
Could you possibly have a little look into this?
If there's a NIC resource for mandals/tehsils/villages in English you cam find, that would be majorly superbly awesome.--Shirt58 (talk) 10:23, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Paap
Hello Titodutta. I have realised that you have reverted my edits on the Paap page. I would like to justify the reasons on why I edited the page. Firstly, theatrical image posters are always preferred over DVD covers in regards to motion pictures. Secondly, the DVD cover is poorly scanned in comparison with the theatrical release poster, which is of higher quality but is scaled down to comply with the fair use policy for copyrighted images.
I am actually not clear when you say that my edits were 'unnecessary' and it would be appropriate if you were to explain to me on what you mean. In the meantime, I am reverting the edit back to the official poster. Remember, Wikipedia is a community project, and I as a Wikipedian have the right to edit the page and making if better.
If you are still unsatisfied with my edits, we can discuss it over at the Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film/Indian_cinema_task_force page.
I thank you for you kind understanding.
Yours faithfully, Kotakkasut. 11:42, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- 1) Quality is not an issue for non free images. And one criteria of non free images is "low resolution". If you can collect a free image then it's alright, else you are unnecessarily changing the image, which results a "hazard" to someone else's upload (since the other editor too uploaded a non free image for that article. --Tito Dutta (talk) 11:53, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- To clarify more, hazard like this. The non free image was uploaded in 2010 and works fine for visual identification! --Tito Dutta (talk) 11:55, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- You are not making any sense. Theatrical release posters has always been used for motion pictures while DVD covers are used for direct-to-DVD releases. Please check on other motion film articles: eg. 3 Idiots and Don 2. These articles are using theatrical release posters. Your arguments therefore are invalid. I am not sure on whether you are serious or you are just trolling around. If you are trolling, I would just leave the Paap page as I can focus on rewriting other articles. Yours faithfully, Kotakkasut. 11:59, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for polite words starting with "your sincerely" etc to sudden change to "trolling" etc! Or from another point of view, "talk politely" please. Read the comments above again- a) what is the reason of uploading another image where one non free image is already added? b) was the image irrelevant? You can take to to any noticeboard or admin board etc. --Tito Dutta (talk) 12:05, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Ryde school
Dear TitoDutto I am hoping you can help as there have been several inaccuracies in the Ryde School with Upper Chine site. There are School archives which will prove what is said. But I do not have them. The Isle of Wight County Press is a local newspaper which has covered articles on Ryde School during the time of its existence. Staff and pupils have also had national and international news during this period. Someone a few months ago seems to have vandalised the detailed history of the school and this has led to inaccuaracies because they tried to reduce the size of the article and in so doing infelicities have crept in. I hope that you can help. Thank you very much. For the record, there are verifiable records to back up what I have said, it is just that I do not a] have them b] someone else might be able to supply the details - they do exist, and I believe that Ryde School itself can provide it

DYK for Che'r Cycle
On 22 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Che'r Cycle, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the characters of Che'r Cycle, a 2009 Bengali drama, included Che Guevara, Aleida March, Fidel Castro, and Raul Castro? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Che'r Cycle. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Re: STiki reports at AIV
If STiki is reporting to AIV, it's because you clicked "Vandalism" -- please be sure the edits are actually vandalism before using that button. If the edit is not helpful, but isn't vandalism, use the "good faith revert" button instead. To be more specific: edit warring is not generally considered vandalism. —Darkwind (talk) 13:58, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

RE: NEXT (GROUP)
I thank you for telling me you reverted my informative addition to NEXT (group)... perhaps I didn't explain the reason for differentiating clearly enough, but since a search for N.E.X.T. totally missed N.Ex.T. (the korean band that wrote "Dear America") instead it sent searcher to NEXT (group) a band from USA. I thought my explanation in comments made this clear. while I do not think a disambiguous page is necessary, there needs to be something early in the article to redirect misdirected persons. If there is a template to do this, i have not heard of it. something needs to be there though because it took me another half hour to find out that the group name was not N.E.X.T but rather N.Ex.T. at which time I found their correct Wiki entry Qazwiz (talk) 21:10, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
Uttaranchal
Problem is that some pages are specific to a year, where simply changing Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand may not be fine. For example, Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Act. When this act came into picture, tentative name of the state was Uttaranchal, and so that should be mentioned, though page link can be provided for Uttarakhand only to emphasize the current name.
I was doing another similar change, Pondicherry to Puducherry, but only for UT, and not for city or district, as we still don't have consensus on name change (and hence page movement). So, these changes also cannot be done using script as each changed needs to be inspected carefully.

Hi.
Why did you delete the update I made on "John Todd" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Todd_%28occultist%29 I don't talk English very well, but I can't see why I should use the Wikipedia if they're not willing to accept the truth. - Basically there's this long paragraph which tells people, that he hadn't been to Vietnam, and no records shows his been there. - And that's where I wanted to add my contribution, to let people know that there's actual evidence that shows his been there. (His gravestone.) http://www.locategrave.org/l/5559356/Christopher-Sarayn-Kollyns-SC
Wikipedia is very confusing for me, so this reply is probably also done all wrong. :)

She's a lady
She's a lady, by singer Tom Jones I suspect the info in this page is NOT correct. A modification was removed indicating that it was actually not Jimmy Page playing on the song. Just for the record, I like to know the source of the fact that Jimmy Pages was playing. On the website of JP www.jimmypage.com (official site) no session is mentionned. At the time another session musician, namely Big Jim Sullivan played in the Tom Jones Band. BJS died last year, and his website has been removed. The song was mentionned on that website. Please let me know. Sadeler (talk) 11:07, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

alternative views of the war as allegory, etc
Hello, I don't usually edit any pages so I am not familiar with the process. I don't see how my addition was not constructive, for it offered a very valuable alternative perspective. I saw only pro-allegorical interpretations and to reject an opposing view would be non-constructive, in my opinion. Weasel words? Couldn't I describe the pro-allegorical interpretation sections as being fluffy words?
I did not realize that there would be people immediately censoring my post, even though I did supply a source which discusses the exact topic on a legitimate link and not merely the opinion of my anonymous self. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.224.54.113 (talk) 18:00, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

From what I could gather from Hindi Wikipedia, at least two editors are required to form a consensus on deletion of an article. It might be the same for rest of them as well. If you are interested you can go ahead and nominate the article in all wikipedias and I'll comment in every one of them. I can nominate it too, but I'll have to get used to Twinkle first. - Check Page 11/42 of the Bengali document at http://detroitk12.org/resources/students/codeOfConduct/Student_Code_of_Conduct-Bengali.pdf and see what it says

Your recent reports at UAA
Hi, and thanks for your recent contributions at WP:UAA. However, there are some issues here. First of all, it is extremely difficult for us to evaluate the relative offensiveness of non-English slang. UAA is not really a discussion forum, it is a place for a more simple evaluation of user names. If it is unclear, which it pretty much always will be with foreign-language slang, if the account violates policy or not it should be discussed at WP:RFCN instead and the user behind the account should be invited to participate in that discussion.
However, I have removed all the reports you just added as unactionable. Only one of them has ever even made an edit, and that was over six months ago. The other ones had never edited and were registered in 2010 and 2007. There is no problem to address with an inactive account or one that has never even tried to edit since it was registered five years ago and such reports will usually be summarily declined. Please be more careful when making such reports in the future. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:27, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- 1½ years ago I made a report at Google's forum about Google's Web Search non-English search suggestions. Most probably you know, Google does not suggest "person A" anything when "person A" is doing an adult search. But, for languages like Bengali, even if you have Safe Search turned on and doing the simplest search, you often get some weird/very insulting search suggestions from Google. My report at Google forum went nowhere, but, still you can see it here.
- Anyway, (naturally) it is not a problem in Google or Wikipedia, it is a problem in whole world wide web.
- About the reports, Urban Dictionary link was added with each report so that one could check the meaning of those words in dictionary.
- I feel, there are some usernames which are reserved/can not be registered as they contain foul language etc. It should be similar in other languages too.
- Having a very very insulting foul word in slang is much serious than having a company name or email address in username.
- Inactivity might be a reason to block those accounts, since those are unused. --Tito Dutta (talk) 04:34, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- Uh, no it isn't. That is rather the point of my message. We don't bother blocking accounts that were registered years ago and have never made a single edit and reporting them is a waste of your time and the time of the admins who review username reports. That would be why I asked you not to do it again. The broader question of how to evaluate foreign language slang is something that could be discussed, in fact I have opened a thread about it at WT:UAA. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:56, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

PERM
Hi. When I say 'active' I generally mean far more than 20 reverts in a month. FWIW, I do not believe that is a compelling reason for the right. I sometimes do that many reverts in a day on the fly while going about my normal content editing and admin work. That said, PERM is not an RfA-style nomination page, and there is no reason why a user can't request the right themselves if they really want it. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:52, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- a) 20 reverts a month, that means 20*15=300, at least 300 general edits a month, 20 revert/month is a good number when a user is not using automated tool and editing selected pages only (he has 400 or something unique page edit with 5 point something average edits per page! b) i) in Rfa one can self-nominate too ii) I strongly believe, getting nomination by other editors show they trust the editor. There are few good admins who grant right/flag to deserving candidate without asking. The first flag/status I got was Autopatrolled, I didn't request it anywhere, Ironholds somehow saw my contribution and and gave me this flag. I have talked to at least 500 editors and 20 admins in last one and a half year, but hardly remember few names, but I face no trouble at all to recall the name of Ironholds. It is all about Oremus pro invicem which means "Let's pray for each other"! And you can see the nomination from this point of view too: an editor with at least some knowledge and experience, after working for a long time with another editor (frankly, I know him and his edits for last one year) thinks the other editor deserves the flag and that's why he is nominating his name so that an admin can assess the belief and trust of the editor. --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:57, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't entirely agree. Autopatrolled is not a 'status' and has no benefits for the user and is not a reward for good editing. In fact none of the minor user rights are a trophy. They are just there to help users interested in working in those areas to get their work done more easily. I have accorded Autopatrolled to many users without asking them but that is to relieve the work of the New Page Patrollers. There is no reason why those who want the other rights can't ask for them themselves, but it is not a question whether they 'deserve' them or not, but it's a misunderstanding that many younger users make.
