Disambiguation link notification for September 23
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
- Great North Eastern Railway (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver)
- added a link pointing to British Rail Class 43
- National Express East Coast (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:21, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Deletion nominations
I would suggest slowing down on the deletion nominations, especially at miscelleny for deletion. It is unlikely the pages you recently listed there will be deleted. For now, I would suggest waiting to see the outcomes of the discussions you have already started before starting any more. If they are unsuccessful (i.e. the pages are not deleted), you should refrain from further similar nominations. Deletion discussions are traditionally a harder area for newcomers to break into; there are many complexities to them. Some observation and careful participation with rationales based on policies and guidelines is a good way to gain experience. Lastly, I would also suggest reading WP:NMFD. Refill
As directed at WP:REFILL, please check your edits before saving. For example, in this edit, one ref is to pressreader and reads:
- "PressReader.com - Connecting People Through News". www.pressreader.com. Retrieved 4 November 2018.
This is plainly wrong - and not just because of the marketing slogan purporting to be the title. I have amended it to:
- "'170/4s' head to Northern in 2018". Rail. 16 August 2017. Retrieved 4 November 2018 – via PressReader.com.
Please take more care in future. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:59, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, CoolSkittle. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Note - edit summaries
Just a note - please don't template highly productive regulars like PRehse (150k edits, active since 2005) with "beginner's templates" like the edit summary one. If you look at his contributions, you can see that he does a lot of unrewarding gnoming, tagging etc., for most of which adding a summary would double or triple the time effort. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:55, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
- I understand that, but PRehse has been notified before on the use of edit summaries (1) (2) (3) (4). I disagree that templates like {{Uw-editsummary}} are for "beginners"; the wording isn't explicitly targeted towards newbies. Also, I understand that it takes a lot of time to add an edit summary to minor tasks like tagging, but it wouldn't hurt for him to use an edit summary for other edits like this and this. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Writing about a Company?
Hi, I'm Cra-natalia. I hope I'm doing right writing in new section. I need help on writing about a company. I understand that writing about a company isn't exactly allowed because it could mean promotion, but I was asked by someone to do this. He thinks because wiki is free for everyone, but I feel it's not that simple especially with so many terms, but still I tried to publish it anyway. I know my writings got speed deletion twice, and I've read some on the guidelines, but some parts got me confused and in the end I cant exactly explain to the person on why we can't just publish the company. Sorry if this is confusing, but is it possible to actually write about a company without looking like a promotion? I see there are other small companies that do this, so I want to know if I can post mine too.. There are some references too but I don't know if its acceptable or not. Thanks in advance. I'm not good with coding and the wiki looks like a coding editor to me, please bear with me and pardon me if I misunderstands a lot. Cra-natalia (talk) 13:09, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
- Cra-natalia, read up on WP:YFA, a guideline on creating your first article. You also have a conflict of interest, and it is advisable to declare it. See WP:COI. Are you being paid? If so, you must disclose it as failure to do so is a violation of the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use. See WP:PAID. CoolSkittle (talk) 14:46, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Breedon Cement logo.png
A tag has been placed on File:Breedon Cement logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. NACs at TfD
Hi, I appreciate your work trying to help close deletion discussions at TfD, but per WP:NACD, I would ask you to stop making closures as delete, especially where there is a mass nomination. We have scripts to easily delete the relevant templates, and I noticed you nominated some, but not all for CSD. It adds to the workload of the individual admin patrolling CSD who may not have the script installed or not know to look there, plus to use the script, I had to revert your closures. If you ever need some closed, feel free to stop by my talkpage and ask, and i'll happily do it (Or maybe one of my talkpage stalkers will too). Thanks, -- Amanda (aka DQ) 06:55, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

- In Special:Preferences under "Appearance" → "Advanced options", there is now an option to show a confirmation prompt when clicking on a rollback link.
- The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Please see meta:Community health initiative/User reporting system consultation 2019 to provide your input on this idea.
- The Arbitration Committee clarified that the General 1RR prohibition for Palestine-Israel articles may only be enforced on pages with the {{ARBPIA 1RR editnotice}} edit notice.
- Two more administrator accounts were compromised. Evidence has shown that these attacks, like previous incidents, were due to reusing a password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. All admins are strongly encouraged to enable two-factor authentication, please consider doing so. Please always practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.
- As a reminder, according to WP:NOQUORUM, administrators looking to close or relist an AfD should evaluate a nomination that has received few or no comments as if it were a proposed deletion (PROD) prior to determining whether it should be relisted.
Hello, Sorry I'm not familiar with the talking procedure in English Wikipedia. I think I have to write here. I have created a new page in English Wikipedia, which is going to be the translated page of another article already available in Persian Wikipedia. 'Bus spotting' article
Hi mate,
Thank you for your contributions in keeping the article as civil as possible despite the uncivil and uncalled for efforts by user Exposemarvin to prove "his point".
We are extremely disappointed at ourselves that our hobby has become a breeding place for such evil to exhibit their corrupt powers.
It is truly saddening. NatIsrael972 (talk) 12:53, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User:Arnoldmutasa/sandbox
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Arnoldmutasa/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Kleuske (talk) 14:20, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- This notification appears to be accidental, as a result of moving a previous version of the sandbox to draft space, so when this new version was speedied Twinkle thought I created it as I was behind the first edit in the page history. I have forwarded this notification to Arnoldmutasa. CoolSkittle (talk) 16:00, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

- An RfC on WT:RfA concluded that Requests for adminship and bureaucratship are discussions seeking to build consensus.
- An RfC proposal to make the templates for discussion (TfD) process more like the requested moves (RM) process, i.e. "as a clearinghouse of template discussions", was closed as successful.
- The CSD feature of Twinkle now allows admins to notify page creators of deletion if the page had not been tagged. The default behavior matches that of tagging notifications, and replaces the ability to open the user talk page upon deletion. You can customize which criteria receive notifications in your Twinkle preferences: look for Notify page creator when deleting under these criteria.
- Twinkle's d-batch (batch delete) feature now supports deleting subpages (and related redirects and talk pages) of each page. The pages will be listed first but use with caution! The und-batch (batch undelete) option can now also restore talk pages.
- The previously discussed unblocking of IP addresses indefinitely-blocked before 2009 was approved and has taken place.

Your draft article, Draft:Cameo (website)
Hello, CoolSkittle. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Cameo".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

- In a related matter, the account throttle has been restored to six creations per day as the mitigation activity completed.
- The scope of CSD criterion G8 has been tightened such that the only redirects that it now applies to are those which target non-existent pages.
- The scope of CSD criterion G14 has been expanded slightly to include orphan "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects that target pages that are not disambiguation pages or pages that perform a disambiguation-like function (such as set index articles or lists).

- The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Community feedback is invited.
- In February 2019, the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) changed its office actions policy to include temporary and project-specific bans. The WMF exercised this new ability for the first time on the English Wikipedia on 10 June 2019 to temporarily ban and desysop Fram. This action has resulted in significant community discussion, a request for arbitration (permalink), and, either directly or indirectly, the resignations of numerous administrators and functionaries. The WMF Board of Trustees is aware of the situation, and discussions continue on a statement and a way forward. The Arbitration Committee has sent an open letter to the WMF Board.

- Following a request for comment, the page Wikipedia:Office actions has been changed from a policy page to an information page.
- A request for comment (permalink) is in progress regarding the administrator inactivity policy.
- Editors may now use the template {{Ds/aware}} to indicate that they are aware that discretionary sanctions are in force for a topic area, so it is unnecessary to alert them.
- Following a research project on masking IP addresses, the Foundation is starting a new project to improve the privacy of IP editors. The result of this project may significantly change administrative and counter-vandalism workflows. The project is in the very early stages of discussions and there is no concrete plan yet. Admins and the broader community are encouraged to leave feedback on the talk page.
- The new page reviewer right is bundled with the admin tool set. Many admins regularly help out at Special:NewPagesFeed, but they may not be aware of improvements, changes, and new tools for the Curation system. Stay up to date by subscribing here to the NPP newsletter that appears every two months, and/or putting the reviewers' talk page on your watchlist.
Since the introduction of temporary user rights, it is becoming more usual to accord the New Page Reviewer right on a probationary period of 3 to 6 months in the first instance. This avoids rights removal for inactivity at a later stage and enables a review of their work before according the right on a permanent basis.
