Harvey Watts moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Harvey Watts, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Short descriptions
Hi there. I see you're a quite prolific article creator. Good work! Could you please include short descriptions when creating articles? They usually come in this format: {{Short description|English footballer (born 2004)}}, so nationality – if it's not ambiguous – and date of birth.
I've been going through hundreds of articles where short descriptions were missing and it would be nice if no new articles would crop up without short descriptions. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 00:04, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

- In the article's stats table sourced from the English National Football Archive. Leicester City 1923–24 and Coventry City 1923–24 & 1924–25 are the differences. I don't see why we would go with the 11v11.com source when that makes no mention of his stats at Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Chesterfield or Rotherham United.--EchetusXe 17:19, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Delete page
Hello,
My name is Victor Nirennold and I recently came across a roadblock in regards to my job search. I have been trying to delete my Wikipedia page, but unfortunately, my request has not been granted. I never created this page about myself, but it has been causing me more harm than good: Victor Nirennold
As a retired professional football player, I have transitioned into a completely different field. However, recruiters continue to bring up my Wikipedia page during job interviews, holding onto the stereotypes of professional athletes not being the smartest. It has been frustrating, as I have tried to remove any trace of my previous career online, but this page remains.
I am kindly reaching out to you as a moderator, to ask for your assistance in deleting my Wikipedia page. If there is another person or forum I should direct my request to, please let me know. I hope you understand the reasons behind my request. Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Dean Smith statistics
Hi, with the links from Dean Smith's career statistics, I feel like it would be better to have the link take you somewhere similar to the page that would be created, and as these pages currently don't exist, it is more helpful for the general public that use Wikipedia. Also, I don't think these pages will be created any time soon, as for example; with Leyton Orient, multiple seasons pages don't exist (2018–19, 2017–18 and 2006–07 onwards), so I feel like the season's pages in which Dean Smith played for the club will not exist for a while, which is why I linked it elsewhere, if you could provide me a better explanation, I am happy accept your edits. Thanks, MessiIsMyBezzie (talk) 17:19, 12 May 2023 (UTC) Hi, I'll just quote from red link: "remove red links if and only if Wikipedia should not have an article on the subject". A Walsall / Hereford / Leyton Orient fan will come along eventually and make these articles.--EchetusXe 17:50, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Advice for Hartlepool United F.C.
Hello, I've recently proposed the Hartlepool United F.C. page for good article status but wondered if I could have some advice before the review. For the club record goalscorer, different sources give the record to different people. For example, the club website gives the record to Joshie Fletcher (111),[1] whereas In The Mad Crowd has Johnny Wigham and Ken Johnson (106) as the record holders.[2] What would you suggest in this scenario? All the best Michaeldble (talk) 22:23, 31 July 2023 (UTC) Michaeldble (talk) 22:23, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- In The Mad Crowd shows Joshie Fletcher with 121 goals, presumably the club website goes off his North-Eastern League + FA Cup goals, leaving out his West Hartlepool CC Medal and Durham County Cup goals. I don't know why In The Mad Crowd would miss him off their scoring chart when they have his stats, but there he is with 111 league and FA cup goals so I'd say it's safe to go with him as the top-scorer.--EchetusXe 00:05, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent! Thank you very much Michaeldble (talk) 13:07, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

Club season page
Hello, You wrote on Leeds season page topic that season pages defaults change and there is no consistency. I am trying to work on current and past season pages for a Ukrainian club. Can you please give an example of a completed season page that is considered best? I looked at MoS page, and at numerous pages for major clubs. The pages have so many differences. I want to look at what is considered best example and follow that. Thank you for your time. Ceriy (talk) 18:55, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- I tried to keep the Port Vale season articles consistent from 1888–89 to 2022–23. The 2022–23 article is broadly what you want. The text is essential, it shouldn't be just a load of stats. Prose is necessary, so are results tables and appearance data. Transfer tables, scoring lists, disciplinary tables are good to include. All of those things should be fairly easy to source. Oh, there weren't any awards last season but 2021–22 has a section for end of season club awards. If you look at 2022–23 Arsenal F.C. season then that is 473k and has 730 references, which is insane. Better to stick with the essential stuff and keeping on top of that rather than having too much detail Once you've got it set up that you can just update it with each result, a sentence or two of prose as the results/appearance table etc gets updated.--EchetusXe 19:25, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will look over those pages. I did a few season articles a long time ago, but they are wrong, only statistics no text and I will fix them. I began making an article last year in my sandbox, but its not finished. This is 2023-24 season. I tried to follow Chelsea and Arsenal pages. But they are different from what others are doing. I want to work out how to have a correct page for this season, then work on old seasons. Can you please tell me if I have any issues with it? Ceriy (talk) 19:44, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
- That all seems perfectly fine. Personally I'd say there's no need to separate the transfer section into summer and winter and it doubles the amount of sub sections. As I said, the Arsenal article is excessive, so you'll just go nuts trying to keep up with something like that. Best to just concentrate on adding to the prose so that all the stats have meaning to them.--EchetusXe 20:03, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

- EchetusXe, I had planned on signing up as a reviewer after the page got deleted, but it was picked up by LunaEatsTuna before i could. In the meantime I noted a few points. Hopefully you could use them to improve the article:
- A couple of lines about his birth and early life wouldn't hurt the article, if the information is available.
- The 125,000 price/cost seems to be an estimate, according to one source. You should clarify the sentence to reflect that. This is also mentioned in the lead section.
- There are a few sentences with a lot of sub-clauses. I suggest that you split them.

Newspaper archives
Hello. I must take those health issue things down, they don't really apply any more.
A lot of papers in the 1920s and 1930s did season previews each August, either in detail for their local clubs or a couple of paras and a squad list with height/weight/birthplace/position for each club in the league. I'd been doing Darlington player heights in the 1930s from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, and then that stopped in favour of a season preview in their Sunday paper, but the poor quality reproduction made it unusable, so I searched for Darlington height in August 1936, and it came up with the Sunday Pictorial 16-page special.
If you're after bios, you'll get some detail on a player when they change club, and if you're lucky, you'll find interview-type features on really quite minor players long after their playing days. Don't think there's any specific advice about how to search, it's the same then as now. If you're after someone specific, search for them by name, restrict the search by time or area of the country or specific paper, obviously it helps if their name isn't Smith or similar. The Athletic News was good, but that stopped in about 1930. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:24, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello, what was the reason you reverted my edit? Coaching history listing was according to the info already existing in the article? Syvä-äksy (talk) 12:17, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, there was an edit conflict that I had to resolve. You found the Slovakian management spell, which I have added into the article, so thanks for the edits they were very useful. The management career section of the infobox isn't for coach spells, they're just for manager spells. Thanks.--EchetusXe 12:23, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Okay. I was just going to add more info and sources for the Slovak spell but you did it already. Thanks too! Syvä-äksy (talk) 12:28, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Hyphenation
Hi, regarding your recent changes to the use of hyphens in articles, please note that hyphens should be used in compound adjectives that appear before a noun (so "youth-team player" would be preferred to "youth team player"). This gives a bit more detail on the appropriate use of hyphens. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:15, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, right so "the youth team" there is no hyphen, but "a youth-team player" is hyphenated. Okay, that makes it a bit more complicated then. EchetusXe 17:21, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- That's right, and these grammatical variances mean that using a script to make these changes is pretty much impracticable. Bear in mind, also, that adverbs ending in -ly shouldn't be hyphenated (so, for example, "newly promoted club" shouldn't have a hyphen), see here. Isn't grammar fun :-| Mattythewhite (talk) 17:54, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, that's at least a simple enough rule to remember. I tried getting the script to change newly to newly- and it kept correcting itself, so that's how I discovered that grammar rule. EchetusXe 18:01, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Harry Singleton
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Harry Singleton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
