Week6/SheilaSh11

@SheilaSh11 Citations alone generally do not add value. Beyond adding a citation alone, make sure to provide a sentence or two within the article itself to express your contribution in context (which the citation will support). This will demonstrate how your addition adds to the overall knowledge in the article. Please add a sentence or two to the first article you edited and then ping me here when done. FULBERT (talk) 00:47, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
@SheilaSh11 Your second edit does not fulfill the Wikipedia policy of using reliable, third-party WP:INDEPENDENT published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy WP:RELIABLE. As discussed in the assignment and class, always use a reliable source, such as an academic journal article or another high-quality reference. Avoid blogs, corporate websites, reviews, press releases, sources where we cannot determine author expertise or bias, and opinion pieces as they generally do not count as reliable sources. Please either assign yourself a different article and add a credible source that is needed to it or find and cite a more reliable source to the one you edited. Ping me here when done, and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 00:49, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

Week 5/ Janyu150

For week 5, I edited Adult education and Higher Education in the United States. Here is the diff for Adult education and here is the diff for Higher Education in the United States.

In the Adult education article, I added the fact that adult learner motivation also affects retention since the article only stated that it affected enrollment. I also cleaned up the second paragraph in the second paragraph of the Challenges and motivating factors section so that the paragraph was less verbose and more clear.

In the Higher Education in the United States article, I added another contributing factor to declining enrollment which I found to be declining state budgets in higher education institutions.

In this process, I didn't know state budgets also affected declining enrollment and I also learned how to provide clarity in my article writing since I tend to be verbose.--Janyu150 (talk) 04:59, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

@Janyu150 Your first edit was reverted, and I agree with the comment. Can you please clarify what point you were trying to make and explain it further in the article, or work on a different one and ping me here again when done and I will review? FULBERT (talk) 01:39, 25 November 2022 (UTC)
@FULBERT
I still see my edits in the article and it looks like their comments were reverted or removed because I don't see their comments so I'm not sure what was said or they took back what they said. I was trying to say that when adult learners are motivated with pursuing their education, it not only affects enrollment in higher education programs but it also affects retention. I felt it was important to include the word retention and discuss retention because a higher education institution's livelihood not only relies on enrollment but also retention. This is the sentence where I included retention "Meanwhile, research illustrates that understanding the motivations and barriers of adult learners can increase their enrollment and retention." ~~ Janyu150 (talk) 05:05, 27 November 2022 (UTC)
@Janyu150 Two of the words you used remain in the second article, so please add more and a citation or assign and edit another article for this week. You can have an extension on this if needed. Ping me here when done. FULBERT (talk) 00:43, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
@FULBERT Thank you professor! I am done with my edits. This time I edited the Adult Education in a different section. @FULBERT
I put all assignments here.
Week 1: Hi, this is Xingbo Gao. Actually, I don't use Wikipedia very often because almost all the professors don't allow me to use it. However, I am willing to learn relevant knowledge. XingboGao (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Week 2:The article I edited is Lottery. Here is the diff. A sentence in the article needed citation, so I added it. Regarding the lottery rule, there is no evidence to prove it in the article. This assignment made me understand how to modify a Wikipedia article. XingboGao (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Week 3: This week I edited an article named Government revenue. Here is the diff. I read this article carefully, which mainly introduces the revenue of the government. One paragraph show the government's tax revenue. However, I found that lottery tax revenue was not among them. So I added it in the paragraph. I make the government's taxes more comprehensive in this article. XingboGao (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Week 4:I edited Chinese tea this week and I added some information about tea therapy. Here is the diff. After this editing, I know that in order to change the article, you have to have proof. I can't edit Wikipedia until I find strong evidence in the database. XingboGao (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Week 5: I edited two articles, Digital transformation and Digitization. Here are their diff and diff2. This time, I added ciataion more skillfully and learned about digitization through this assignment. XingboGao (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2022 (UTC)

Please either add something of more substance to the second article or assign and edit an additional article. You can take until the end of the week for this edit if needed. Ping me here when done. Here is the diff. Added a citation for digital currency. And learn about the history of coins.BL33701 (talk) 16:12, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

@BL33701 Citations alone generally do not add value. This will demonstrate how your addition adds to the overall knowledge in the article. Please add a sentence or two to the article you edited and then ping me here when done.
