This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Weightlifting at the 1988 Summer Olympics – Men's 56 kg, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://everything.explained.at/%2F/%2F%2F/Weightlifting_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics_%e2%80%93_Men%27s_56_kg/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. • Hi Griff88, I saw your note on Coren's page about this. Yes, the bot picked up one of the many mirrors of Wikipedia articles, due to copying parts of the 2008 article. You can safely ignore that notice. A related comment though: while it is perfectly fine to re-use parts of an article in other articles (especially in these cases where an event recurs many times), but our license does require naming where you copied from, in case anyone ever wants to check the edit history. All you have to do in those cases is to use an edit summary like this (complete with the link to the article): "Content copied from [[Article name here that you copy from]], See that page for attribution."
  • That actually makes it easier on the humans who investigate the bot's reports. If we see that in an edit summary, we instantly know what happened without having to investigate. Thanks for your contributions! CrowCaw 23:03, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome, it starts on October 15th though haha, it hasn't opened yet!. Feel free to add your entries to Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge in the meantime! Entries done in the contest can count towards that challenge too if people are happy with that of course.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:13, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, looks like I missed that part :D Griff88 (talk) 12:16, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, it's a great article though! Feel free to contribute to the Challenge long term anyway and add that article to the bottom of here. I'll ask all the contestants by the contest starts if they're OK with them also counting towards the 10,000 challenge. In the meantime you're free to work on articles offwiki or in your sandbox but the edits in the mainspace all have to be done/submitted between Oct 15 and November 27 for the contest!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:21, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll start some article drafts later this day. Griff88 (talk) 12:25, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of 2014 ASEAN University Games

[edit]

The article 2014 ASEAN University Games has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable event

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:26, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
