- There appears to be a view here that not linking in every section is somehow "depriving" readers of the opportunity of visiting another article. I won't bother to rebut that (it shouldn't need rebutting). Please note that past a certain rather strict rationing of high-value links, extra wikilinks are likely to degrade the functionality of the system just through dilution; there's also the issue that text strewn with lots of blue is harder to read and looks messy. These are large parts of the reason for the overlink restrictions. I don't mind the repeat linking of ref publications in the ref list at the bottom, since it's minimally disruptive to readers. Another thing to watch (I'm correcting in InterCity 125 is overcapitalisation. Thank you. Tony (talk) 02:47, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

- Incorrect capitalisation? No, simply your inability to accept the capitalisation EVEN IN FUCKING LINKS. You changed [[21st Century modernisation of the Great Western Main Line|... to remove the capital C all over Yatton railway station BUT IT'S THE FUCKING TITLE OF THE ARTICLE. YOUR EDIT BROKE THE LINKS. Also why do you keep adding {{fact}} tags to the lead? EVERYTHING is fully supported, and I got slapped down last time I dared to actually put a citation there.

Pansexuality article
You used to watch over this article. Well, there's a user there now who continues to edit the article and articles related to it in a biased way -- User:Trans4life. The user should clearly be reported, having WP:Edit warred across several articles and having changed solidly sourced definitions to biased, poorly-sourced definitions using the bisexualindex.org.uk as one source. This source clearly does not trump scholarly sources or even GLAAD sources. Yes, pansexuality is generally subsumed under bisexuality, but that does not mean that a user should edit Wikipedia articles to impose his or her views that there is no validity in distinguishing the terms. I've reverted the editor on a few articles, but I don't believe that the user is likely going to stop this type of editing. 41.219.180.202 (talk) 01:40, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

It's the same line, so should be (LUECKE
), not (CONTf

- First off, one is listed as GWML, the other as B2E, so it's not the same line. Even if it were, LUECKE is for bits that aren't relevant for some reason, but is a continuous line. - It has been the way I've seen things done over the past several years, and it's a way that makes sense. Note how the LUECKE's ends are in the middle of circles - it's not meant to be be "line continues in this direction", it's meant to indicate "this section is beyond the purview of this diagram, but has some relevance". The LUECKE between Paddington and Reading is a perfect example of this - it explains the 0 point of the line, but that section is not actually part of the line and so is ignored, but the link is shown. -mattbuck (Talk) 22:08, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

- The convention that I've been following is that if a line/route diverges from the subject of the RDT and then rejoins, then I use LUECKE, otherwise CONT. On the Reading to Taunton RDT it specifically calls out "Great Western Main Line to Taunton via Bristol" and "Bristol to Exeter Line" – both of which are main lines that connect end-to-end in a major city – and IMHO was significant enough to be connected with (
LUECKE
). (But then, I should probably ask, "Which is the main route between Paddington and Taunton? Via Reading or Bristol?") Admittedly, this is a boderline case, but that's why I made the choice in this particular instance . Could you take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Linking#What_generally_should_not_be_linked_can_we_bring_this_to_closure
The "one link" rule/enforcement has gotten out of hand, I'm trying to get something closer to rationality. You observe the obvious on the link talk page: "I think that guideline forgets that unlike a story where you start at the beginning and work forwards, an encyclopaedia is a reference work, and so people will skip the bits which don't interest them.." I agree with you -- the point of links is function, not some aversion to black-and-blue.
I'd appreciate any refinements to the proposal that is pending on the links/talk page. If it comes to something you'd support, I'd appreciate your stating the support on the talk page. Thanks Boundlessly (talk) 23:09, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi Matt,
I’ve moved on from SU politics as I’ve graduated :-)
However, I think the motion is an excellent idea.
I’d recommend a licence that is something less than public domain that allows us to attribute pictures to people. It might be an idea to do a very short PPT outlining exactly what the licence (CC-BY-SA perhaps?) would mean. There is a good image here you could use explaining the different licences. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Upload/Flickr I think the wording of the motion is fine but there has be something to tell Councillors in very basic terms what the motion is doing.
Let me know how it goes.
Emphasise it would be very good publicity if we could ever get the UoNSU article featured on the main page!

Bristol railway map
I think that we need to do something about {{Bristol railway map}}
. Whenever I make an amendment to an article which uses this, it takes ages to attempt the save. The save attempt often throws an error message like this. Sometimes, when that happens, the save hasn't gone through at all; but sometimes it has gone through, but the server's timed out when rerendering the updated page to send back to me.

Nottingham railway station picture
Hello Matt, following the image renaming, the Nottingham railway station article how shows a somewhat obscure shot of the western approach tracks and the back of the courts and an NCP car-park, rather than the station. Is this what was intended? —Sladen (talk) 21:55, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

- A lot of stuff does stay the same and a lot of sections change. Probably the most frequently changed sections are the gallery, the alerts, the discussion topics and the transport news (mainly TfL headlines). I assure you that each edition is different. Wow, thanks for undoing all that. The lead is back to being all over the place, talking about Travelcards in one sentence, then the 150th anniversary in the next, then upgrades in the next; and containing unnecessary information like "TfL is run by a board and a commissioner" and "The Victoria line was opened 1968–71 and the Jubilee line in 1979, and the Jubilee was extended in 1999", why not state when all the lines were opened? New Wales Coast Path WikiProject
I see you're a member of WikiProject Wales and have contributed to Welsh articles. There's a new project, Llwybrau Byw!|Living Paths! under development which you might be able to contribute to. Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path and the many and various activities and attractions. The problem with the article, for me, is that it presents a single perspective, about its role in relation to the rail network, with little or nothing about its role or history in the context of the wider development of the surrounding area - which needs to be covered.
