- Keep He's getting serious consideration for the NFL Draft, which is notability. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/darius-leonard?id=2559818. Kkuchnir (talk) 06:24, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

deleteand userfy, and then bring back if he makes the NFL. "Serious consideration for the draft" is not the threshold of notability for college football players. The coverage I have found seems to be a few local news mentions and blog discussions, but that's not enough to pass WP:GNG or any other notability measure I can think of. He's probably going to get drafted, he's probably going to play in the NFL, and then he would be a clear pass for notability at that point... but that's two "probably" hurdles which means he hasn't done that yet and no subject achieves notability for what they haven't done yet. If significant sources can be found for his current achievements (such as his college career) I'd be willing to change my position, but I was unable to find that level of coverage. Other editors may be successful at that.--Paul McDonald (talk) 11:57, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Paulmcdonald: There is a good deal of significant coverage. See below. Cbl62 (talk) 01:35, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Changed to Keep Cbl62 is great at research! The AP pickup adds weight to the extensive regional coverage which passes WP:GNG.--Paul McDonald (talk) 15:43, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

- Delete even getting drafted into the NFL does not make notability. I still think it is ludicrous that playing in one NFL game gives notability, but the fact of the matter is that NFL teams cut many men from their roasters before the first game.John Pack Lambert (talk) 05:44, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Keep. Even if he weren't a lock to play in the NFL (projected to be picked in 2nd or 3rd round), Leonard passes WP:GNG based on his college career. He has also been named an FBS All-American which may or may not qualify him under WP:NCOLLATH (not sure if FBS AA does the trick). In any event, significant coverage in reliable sources is abundant. A sampling includes the following: (1) "MEAC great Leonard seeks Senior (Bowl) moments", The Associated Press, 1/23/18 (reprinted in Fox Sports, Yahoo Sports, and other outlets); (2) "Ex-Lake View star Leonard an All-American again, eyes NFL", The Morning News, 1/17/18; (3) "Leonard repeats as BoxToRow Defensive Player of the Year", The Times and Democrat, 12/13/17; (4) "Diamonds are for on-field proposals: SCSU star Leonard pops question at midfield after win", The Times and Democrat, 11/16/17; (5) "S.C. State linebacker Darius Leonard gives Bulldogs reason to be optimistic", The Post and Courier, 8/26/17; (6) "S.C. State's Leonard wins Blount Defensive Player award for 2nd straight year" The Times and Democrat, 2/7/17; (7) "Leonard loving life leading S.C. State defense", The Times and Democrat, 9/1/16; and (8) "Wake Forest has big plans for Leonard", Winston-Salem Journal, 11/2/14. Cbl62 (talk) 01:33, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
