Cover fails per non-free content criteria per point 3a. Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information. livelikemusic my talk page! 02:58, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

- File:Great-White-Once-Bitten-Twice.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Lewismaster (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
This is a cover of the Great White's version of Once Bitten, Twice Shy, but it is used in the article about Ian Hunter's version of the song. The cover of Great White's version should only be used in the article about Great White's version and violates WP:NFCC#8 in the article about Ian Hunter's version. Stefan2 (talk) 10:44, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- I stand perplexed. Many articles about singles have multiple infoboxes to illustrate different cover versions. A picture of cover art is a clear identifier of the single and is always non-free content. For example, articles like "River Deep – Mountain High" and "The House of the Rising Sun" use this policy, with multiple infoboxes and more than one cover. Are those articles all wrong? Moreover, the Great White version of the song was more successful and is probably known better than the original, and I think that having two articles for the same song would be redundant and confusing for the reader. For the reasons above, I vote Keep and contest your cry for WP:NFCC#8 violation, because that cover would be familiar to many readers and helps to identify the most popular version of the song. Lewismaster (talk) 21:32, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- The fact that there may be policy violations elsewhere is not a reason to retain a policy violation in this article. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:44, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- For the reasons above, I don't think that you should invoke WP:NFCC#8 for this article. Please, answer to that. Lewismaster (talk) 07:13, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

Fails NFCC#8 as this image is essentially decorative and does not substantially enhance the reader's understanding of the topic. (The image was previously deleted at IFD here, and then subsequently re-uploaded, then redeleted as an orphaned image when the article was deleted. The article was restored at DRV and a request was made at my talk page to restore the image. I considered leaving it deleted for WP:CSD#G4, but the concern at the previous IFD seems to have been the existence of a rationale for use (WP:NFG doesn't outright forbid this sort of montage - it just says you need a reason for it, so that concern was addressed). The previous IFD did not discuss at all contextual significance which I don't think this image meets at all.) B (talk) 11:05, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:NFCC#3a, using multiple images unnecessarily. Stifle (talk) 12:04, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: Delete - perhaps acceptable when uploaded but non-free standards have changed and the image fails NFCC#8 - Peripitus (Talk) 08:46, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- File:American zoologist 41 6.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by John Vandenberg (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Image fails WP:NFCC#3a as multiple non-free images are used when one would suffice, and WP:NFCC#8 as it's used decoratively, and is not essential to readers' understanding of the subject. Fair use dispute tag was removed by the uploader under the erroneous notion that it was "automated silliness". Stifle (talk) 12:03, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Fails WP:NFCC#3a: the article also contains a different photo of the subject of the article. Fails WP:NFCC#10a: "nazi germany unknown photographer" is not sufficiently detailed. Stefan2 (talk) 22:43, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- Comment The photographer is Walter Frentz and he died in 2004. Amazing to think of. So, unless it's "iconic" or confiscated or something, it won't do. Thincat (talk) 23:55, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
