About Draft: Amnesiac Flooding

Hi Theroadislong,

Thank you for going over the article. You have rejected the draft for lacking independent sources. I think that should not hold here. The article is about a particular algorithm and particular results in Computer Science. The article summarises the key results from peer-reviewed highly respected sources (scientific publications) which are cited. These are the best sources possible. I am indeed involved with the discovery of the results (which I tagged myself) but the results are not about me or promoting myself but bringing peer-reviewed results of general importance to the community. Please reconsider the tag or suggest how this can be addressed.

Your draft Draft:Amnesiac Flooding was declined not rejected. Your draft appears to be original research with your own self written sources. You are free to re-submit and I will leave it for another reviewer, but I won't be accepting the draft. Theroadislong (talk) 14:09, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. Appreciate that. I suppose I could also request a third party to write the wiki. Can they create a draft with the same title, or would I need to delete mine for them to use this same title? AmitabhCS (talk) 15:55, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Getting a third party to write it, would achieve nothing, it would still be inappropriate content. Theroadislong (talk) 15:58, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry but that is a bit incomprehensible - how can peer reviewed research re-written for wikipedia be inappropriate content?(e.g. Flooding algorithm or Flooding (computer networking)). If you don't want the authors to write it (who themselves are university professors), then it has to be a third party, isnt' it? I didn't say the third party has to copy this content - they can write whatever they think they comprehend about it. AmitabhCS (talk) 16:20, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you ask for help at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Flooding algorithm has zero sources and should be deleted, Flooding (computer networking) has been tagged for 9 years for being poorly sourced, see other crap exists. Theroadislong (talk) 17:20, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - the source I added was published by the Slovak Ministry of Culture, it is substantial and reliable. It's no longer poorly sourced, even with only one source. I was in the process of adding more sourcing. WP would be better with this brief info rather than without it. Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 09:24, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Then submit it for review and let reviewers decide, but be advised one "official" source will not be enough, there is zero evidence of passing WP:NWRITER. Theroadislong (talk) 09:28, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An entry on the website of the Slovak Literary Centre is a claim of notability itself. I've expanded the article and added another relaible and substantial source. Thanks for your patience and friendly collaborative attitude. Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 09:48, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am curious to know why my contributions were totally deleted, after being supported with sources. I do my best to add that and to provide with sources. E.g. "Legacy" section - It is clear true, that there is a street named after Jožo Nižnánsky in municipality of Brestovany and memorial plate, you can see ti clearly on google maps even.

Secondly, I could provide every fact and figure with due citing, though in Slovak language. But everything is deleted and article not submitted.

Please duly see another articles, e.g. that one of Johannes Maximilian, who reviewed Jožo Nižnánsky article and rejected it

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Magg

For it is unreliable as to dates, Literature and refernces only in German language.

Please excuse my forwardness, I would not like to be rude, anyway. Looking forward to discussion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikipcontributor800 (talkcontribs) 11:15, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but I have little idea what you asking here? Sources do not have to be in English, I merely commented that Goodreads and IMDb were not reliable sources on your draft Draft:Jožo Nižnánsky, I don't read Slovak so cannot comment on the suitability of your other sources. Theroadislong (talk) 17:16, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies.
I have thought you are the reviewer of the draft, and acquainted with entire editing history, which is apparently not so. Probably thats why my reply seems to be uncomprehensible for you.
I have taken a notice on general unreliability of Goodreads and IMDb
and am thankful for that.
Thank you for your time, best regards. Wikipcontributor800 (talk) 09:33, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an admin, I'm not sure how I can help sorry. Theroadislong (talk) 11:47, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thank you. It might be time for me to leave. NoorStores (talk) 11:48, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. It might be worth you having a peep and also at the Belbury talk page. NoorStores (talk) 12:47, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid your accusations look absurd and border on personal attacks. Please, you MUST assume good faith when editing. Theroadislong (talk) 13:07, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree they are absurd. It is absurd that OB would use an alt account. But, neither he nor B have denied the identification. NoorStores (talk) 15:01, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

Why is instagram and twitter (x) not a reliable source? Yara Jenkins (talk) 00:13, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me learn if academia.edu is a Notable source?

Hi there, thank you for your recent review in my 1st article of the Draft:BikroyShohoj.com. I am having a really bad time figuring out what links are counted as Notable, and credible. I have some references to Journels, and rese=arch papers, referencing about my topic. For example: https://www.academia.edu/113798729/How_BikroyShohoj_s_Unorthodox_Approach_Elevates_Classified_Ads_Experience_in_Bangladesh

Is this type of reasearch and journal papers good for notability? Thanks you for much for your guidance! Yeasir Ali (talk) 04:28, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

references need to be independent of the subject

Thank you. Please can you explain further? For example, how do I "prove" the subject spoke many languages, apart from giving examples of published articles in other languages, or references in published articles? I have given details of press cuttings that I have with name of newspaper, date etc. I am able to refer to a published article that itself contains factual inaccuracies because clearly the journal that published the article did not ask for evidence (i.e. date of death). So I am not clear what "independent of subject" means and I am struggling to meet requirements, when I own a lot of evidence (e.g. letters, photographs etc) but cannot refer to it. Thank you for your help. IonaFyne (talk) 16:53, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need to "prove"anything. You are working backwards, Wikipedia articles merely summarise what independent sources have already reported, if the sources don't mention that he "spoke many languages" then we simply don't mention it. Theroadislong (talk) 17:14, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Helpful; thank you. I continue working on my draft article. IonaFyne (talk) 15:47, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Liz Fenwick

Hi there. Many thanks for your comments on this draft article (have responded in page talk). I've taken them onboard and made several changes to a) improve the objectivity, b) expand the bio and create a separate Awards section, and c) improve the source citations, esp. with new secondary sources. I've also taken a look at many other novelist wiki pages and I think the style and content is now comparable to those already published. Hope these changes are for the better! Thx Chris3570 (talk) 16:31, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some good learnings I can use for other articles, thanks for the input. Yr latest suggestions now incorporated. Chris3570 (talk) 10:30, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

T. Aliba Imti article

Hi There, I've just started using Wikepedia editing seriously recently and am still figuring things out. Please suggest improvement and the process for this article please. thanks Wallpattern (talk) 04:15, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I uploaded this photo and several others to the article but they disappeared and were registered in another location with no attachment to the original. Please help.

Wallpattern Photographs do not help with notability and are not considered in any draft review, I should concentrate on improving your sources, for instance Wikipedia cannot be used as a source. Theroadislong (talk) 08:47, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bruce Ryan (production designer)

Hello. I see you moved my page from mainspace and suggested I put it up for review before moving to mainspace, It was subsequently deleted before I could do so. Please advise, thank you. Sylvan1971 (talk) 05:13, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft Draft:Bruce Ryan (production designer) was declined multiple times and finally rejected, there is nothing further you can do. Theroadislong (talk) 08:48, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Josei Tennō images

Hiya! I am wondering what images would you recommend removing off Draft:Josei Tennō and do you think it's important? Thanks for you feedback on the page to! Camillz (talk) 19:31, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The images are so large they are hiding the text, images do NOT help with getting drafts accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 19:35, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what size should they be? Camillz (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Page Resubmission

Hey Theroadislong,

I finally resubmitted that draft you told me to resubmit. While you had indicated you were going to approve it immediately, I've since added a few more references and expanded the public opinion section, so you might want to scan over it if that's important to you.

Reveald, Inc Draft

you made an interesting comment that this article was "blatant advertising" - but it reads with the same neutral voice as most examples from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Computer_security_software_companies care to expand on your thoughts? Rockpool (talk) 15:38, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

because it just tells us what the company does, whereas it should report on what independent reliable sources have chosen on their own to discuss. Theroadislong (talk) 16:16, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Rockpool You can get other opinions here Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Theroadislong (talk) 16:27, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thankyou! Rockpool (talk) 17:41, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I wanted to know why you want to delelte my article. Please help me on how to update that? Aira28 (talk) 19:34, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Citing references

Hi @Theroadislong, if I want to cite the same reference more than once, do I give it the same ref number or enter it as a new ref? If it's the same number, how do I do that. I tried copy paste but that didn't work. thanks Dinky13 (talk) 09:36, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Minneapolis Public Housing Authority

Theroadislong, please take another look at the sources in Draft:Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, and my comments on the article talk page. With one exception the sources are independent of the subject, and include reputable news organizations and governmental and other third-party entities.

Added citations to entry on "Jerzy Kubina"

Thank you for reviewing my entry for Jerzy Kubina. I have added more citations, which now include the New York Times and such important journals as Artforum.

I hope this is sufficient. יאַנקל (talk) 18:35, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I will leave it for another reviewer to be fair, I still not clear how they pass the criteria at WP:NARTIST. Theroadislong (talk) 19:08, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
