Q on reference source language

07:53:55, 14 November 2017 review of submission by FriendlyB

Dear Thereodislong,

thank you for reviewing the draft "Dr. Petry Textile Auxiliaries".

For the sources, I cited independent sources, such as - http://www.genios.de/fachzeitschriften/artikel/MTB/20080617/umweltschutz-und-nachhaltigkeit-in-/060817061.html - https://www.biooekonomie-bw.de/de/fachbeitrag/aktuell/insektenchitin-macht-textilherstellung-nachhaltiger/

In order to have more evidence, I added information from further independent sources and references: - https://www.bloomberg.com/profiles/companies/6311207Z:GR-textilchemie-dr-petry-gmbh - https://www.bluesign.com/industry/chemical-suppliers/references/textilchemie-dr-petry

Thank you in advance for re-reviewing.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your assistance with Draft:InnoCare. I have included {{connected contributor}} and noted it on your user page that I work for that company. They're not paying me to create this page, I just think it would cool to have a Wikipedia page. Let me know if there's anything else you can suggest to improve my draft. I appreciate your help!

I added more 3rd party sources that are verifiable and are independent, professional sources (not personal blogs or sites). I now have 15 citations.

Please let me know what else you think is required to have it accepted?

Hi there, thank very much for your care and consideration to to help build this page. I can understand why the review was rejected, as i hadn't cited enough sources on the first draft. I was wondering if you'd mind having a read over the latest draft and checking if it is better now thank you. SP

Dear Theroadislong

Hope you are fine and doing good.

I am requesting for a review again as the major comment for rejection/decline of this article was its Reference section or having less references. Now, the draft has been updated, and more than 20 solid references have been employed, with more historical details, and best possible bibliographic support in the light of the available literature. This single page article is now having over 25 appropriate references, and are strengthened with new data.

Your anticipation in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Sincere Regards

Dear Theroadislong

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

The objected references (facebook) has been udpated with the departmental URLS (links to the webpages). I think, these were the most up to dated and regularly updating references. Moreover, the last paragraph was deleted, because the book describing the paragraph and the mentioned material is in press (which is written by Dr. Ikram), and once the book got published, the three to four lines paragraph will be inserted again.

I do hope, that the draft will get approved now and will get online, as after coming across other such articles, this one seems to be far better than those.

Your prompt and positive anticipation in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Thanking you in anticipation

Sincere Regards

The submission's referencing was improved as advised, and I added a few more. More information on his teachings and publications were added. The page exists in 3 other Wikipedia: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Russell https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Russell https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Russell

In-depth coverage

I added RPG Site. Is that a reliable source?

Hi Theroadislong! I have recently uploaded a draft of the article "Admitad" here and you have declined it. Could you kindly explain what can I do to make it right? Is it possible to work with you as my mentor on the draft? Or, maybe, you can help with writing, could you kindly tell me what is the best option? admitad is a global company, it already helps over 630,000 people worldwide. I believe, that it needs to be on Wikipedia.

Images/Imágenes

Hi! As Images/Imágenes stated I am being paid to edit this page, but I am also working on this program as it is a work in progress. It was on the aire for over 30 years and pulled off in 2011. We are currently working on starting the project again but as this program began in the 70's there is not a large online presence. Is there anyway this page could be published for now, so we can show people that Images/Imágenes is coming back? Thanks, Alice

I have a lot of information from the Executive Producer but since none of it is available online, I cannot reference it. For example: (None of this is available online) Mission Images/Imágenes is a multi- Emmy award-winning television program series that creates, chronicles, and promotes the varied rich diverse history, culture, and life experiences of Hispanic/Latino communities in the state of New Jersey and the nation. Brief Organizational History For 46 years, the Images/Imágenes television series provided a voice and platform for New Jersey's diverse Latino population. The program series is known as the longest-running Latino community program in the history of PBS. Over the decades, the Emmy award winning series featured thought provoking round table discussions, interviews, profiles, documentaries and special topic episodes on the most prevalent issues pertaining to and for the Hispanic/Latino populations – the fastest growing demographic in New Jersey. Program topics ranged from lifestyles, business, education, legal matters, community affairs, pop culture/entertainment, the arts, sports and the health and sciences. Images/Imagenes was launched on January 6, 1972 than titled “Mi Casa Su Casa” on NJPTV hosted by producer, Diego Castellanos. The program made history as the first Latino television series on Public Television in New Jersey to air across the Garden State and surged as the nation’s number one market in New York and the number 4 market in Philadelphia. Since then the series is recognized as a resource for top Latino stories, both at local, as well as the national level. Award Winning Producer William Sánchez is the Producer/Director of Images/Imágenes since 1972, and is currently revitalizing a new series as its producer/director at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He produced the series with the PBS NJ Television Network until the station was dissolved by the state on June 30, 2011. Within the first ten years Images/Imágenes became the leading contributor of programs for the PBS Series Presente hosted by Rita Moreno. Images/Imágenes competed with mainstream networks and was selected over ABC World News Tonight at the National Unity Awards in St. Louis. Then it rose to the top of the Latino Broadcasting Media when it was highlighted at the San Antonio Film Festival in the 1980s as a must see series on Latin Music alongside the films “LA BAMBA” and “STAND AND DELIVER.” National Recognition

For over 40 years, Images/Imágenes under the leadership of producer William Sanchez the television industry has recognized the series with four Emmys and nominated for twenty by National PBS. The series is distinguished having received numerous national acclaims from the White House, Congress, National PBS, the National Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and three New Jersey Governors. The series represented PBS in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. It was distributed by the Department of Defense and with audiences including American military bases around the world. It was also national under the Latino Consortium’s series “PRESENTE” with host Rita Moreno. Now under the banner of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Images/Imagenes’ legacy continues for public viewing at the United States Library of Congress. Signature Shows There are a number of evergreen programs that were signature shows for the series and are timeless works of history and culture. A. DRAFT:Summation Formula List Decline

Ok, I took your advice and added my material back onto the wiki page on summation. You watch how long it takes D Lazarus to delete it and post his own rambling notes. His notes don't transition well for sentence-to-sentence; paragraph-to-paragraph, nor make any sense; Some of what he posts really is not related to closed form summation. Roger

Dixon Algebra submission.

I have followed your instructions and I think I have successfully updated the references to conform to wiki practices.

Historical notes: • I begsn working on this topic some 40 years ago; • Periodically the algebra has cropped up in the works of others; • Most of this activity has occurred in the last 8 years; • John Baez was the first to call the algebra the Dixon algebra; • This became somewhat solidified when the Quanta Mag and Wired articles appeared; • I recently saw a blog in which the blog's author said there is no wikipedia page for the Dixon algebra yet; • So I decided to start one.

Cheers, Geoffrey Dixon

FYI: Ashley has been adding photos to Commons and then inserting those photos into various articles in preparation for her intention to create an article about her grandfather, Virgil Williams. I left a note on her Talk to declare paid or COI if she proceeds with the attempt. (Evidence for intention is creation and then deletion of a draft in her Sandbox.) The quail hunting photo you deleted was there because Virgil owns the land that was name-mentioned in the image caption. David notMD (talk)

Draft:900 wine prosecco

Hi Theroadislong, thanks for reviewing my page!

I saw your comment on my draft page 900 wine, I'm inserting the Italian wine brand on the market. I'm not connected to the company, I just try to make the list of brands on wikipedia as complete as possible. I am passionate about wine and I think this brand is important in the Italian sparkling wine scene.

can you possibly and kindly advise me of the changes that can better comply with the policies of wikipedia? Thanks a lot!

COXWOLD POTTERY DRAFT

Hi Theroadislong

Many thanks for having looked at this draft article, and so promptly.

Also very pleased to note from your User Page that you clearly have a great interest in pottery, as shown from many images of pots, so your advice is invaluable.

I'll be very pleased to re-word the various sentences which you have highlighted. I can assure you it was never intended to be a 'eulogy'! But I guess it is a bit difficult to avoid some subjectivity - I shall try to eradicate it. Thanks ArchaicW (talk) 14:18, 20 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Skyrora

Hi Theroadislong, according to my Wikipedia page Draft:Skyrora (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Skyrora) I inform the following: I can confirm that I have had no involvement with the previous creation and deletion of a Wikipedia page for the company Skyrora, I have no concerns regards this. I can confirm that this page is not intended to be advertorial, I have no involvement with the company Skyrora, however, given the recent growth in the UK Space Industry I believe that every company involved in this rapidly growing and exciting sector should be represented with information available online for the public to read and learn from. Coxwold Pottery Article

Dear Theroadislong

That is great, thank you very much. So pleased to have an expert in this area involved. I've read through your revised version, and I agree - I think I've spent too long on the draft article and ended up putting in far more detail than was really necessary or relevant! Simplifying it has improved it. I do hope other 'Admins' looking at this article now will recognise and appreciate your involvment with your background in pottery. Many thanks. Hi Theroadislong. Thank you for the welcome message. I was confused by the larger body of the message which suggested that I may have some conflict of interest in terms of the article that I edited. This confused me because I had never heard of the subject of the post and Wikipedia immediately suggested this page for my editing. So I have no conflict of interest and I wonder where such an idea might have come from. I did look into the subject of the post and I mostly disagree with him. However, per the rules, I didn't let this influence my edits. I found links to support his claims and added them. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laughingpillow (talkcontribs) 22:57, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cincinnati Galvanizing Co.

Are the major reasons for declining the submission the lack of more sources? I can add a few more references, if that would make a difference. I also have some pictures. But since this business was operated by my family, some of the information included is from our family's personal knowledge and is not available from secondary sources. --1schott (talk) 22:55, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Each and every substantive fact requires an independent reliable source Wikipedia ONLY reports on what those sources say. Wikipedia has no interest in what you or I might know about a subject I'm afraid. Theroadislong (talk) 23:00, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that I have often wondered what caused it and never thought of edit conflict, I think you are right about the undisclosed paid editing too. Theroadislong (talk) 18:17, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Edit conflicts are common, and cause odd things to happen. A technical term for them in computer science is race conditions. That term comes from electrical engineering (since computers are electronic engineering) and refers to a situation where the outcome depends on which signal arrives first. I occasionally tested situations where two users of a system tried to take similar actions at the same time.

I fear that I might have been overly optimistic about Hannahpartridgeig's future on enWiki. Prior to my comment on Doug's TP I viewed one of her YouTube videos, which was just as...you know...as her User page, and I thought we were in no-harm-no-foul territory. Based upon the Matt Smith (actor) edit, however, it seems I was wrong. Should we suggest to Doug, or some other admin, that she be blocked before things get out of hand? JoJo Anthrax (talk) 22:32, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. My page for A.D.K.O.B. has been declined under the objection of "Notability." However I believe this band does meet that criteria, specifically point #11 "Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network." The band's 2015 single "Glue" received High Rotation on Major National Radio Station triple j and was in fact the 9th most played song in 2016 (which can be shown via radio reports from Radio Montior but is not publicly released info unfortunately.)

Sorry - I have not written many articles on Wikipedia. When you said it needed more references were you referring to the existence of Cellemetry or some other aspect? Wikipedia requires independent sources, we are not interested in what he says about himself on his website, we only report on what independent reliable sources say. Theroadislong (talk) 11:44, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) @Mr.JobinTJ: Hi, have you read the How to improve your article section in the note at the top of Draft:V. J. Mathews? There is a [show] link there; please click it an read the contents carefully. I'd suggest the last link in that section, which is Wikipedia:Verifiability, is the most important – any technical issues can be easily fixed, but the lack of reliable and independent sources will prevent the draft from becoming an article.
BTW, creating an article from scratch is one of the hardest tasks in Wikipedia. I can see you managed to do it almost perfectly. Remember, however, one of the most important requirement is supporting every information in Wikipedia with reliable sources, independent from the subject. Re: ELK Publishing Article

Hi Theroadislong,

Thanks for looking through the article. As a newbie, I guess it will take me some time to work out all the glitches. I have looked through the comments and have applied what was asked. I'm not sure, but I think the reviewers might have still been looking at the first attempt(14 Feb) and not the revised. References to unpublished work do not exist on the article and I thought newspaper articles and interviews were reliable sources? This is why I think reviewers might have been looking at the first attempt. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, could you please point out the 'peacock terms' for me?

Additionally, references 5, 10 and 11 at the bottom of the article - I have tried to resurrect, but I'm not sure what I am doing wrong - They still present as missing or empty. Would you be able to take a look at them for me?

Cheers!

It reads like a marketing department wrote it..."unique, select works" "Prominent writers and presenters for the USQ Bookcase Writers Festival" "a solution to publishing educational books for disadvantaged school children" "a platform to showcase their unique artistic talents and abilities." "competitions are inundated with hundreds of entries and manuscripts are of a particular, high standard." Wikipedia cannot reference itself and Amazon links are of no use for establishing notability. Re: Publishing Article

Thank you again, Theroadislong. It sounds like you have had a hard day. I do hope it improves.

I am doing my best to stay within the guidelines of Wikipedia and fix the requests. Thank you for pointing out my discrepancies.

Being a Newbie, it is quite difficult to know everything in the first instance of doing a post. Given this is the first one. I do hope you understand that it takes time to learn the protocols and one does not go out of their way to break the rules. It sounds like you have been doing this for quite a long time.

Given Wikipedia is a communal effort, I expected Wikipedia would be grateful for outside assistance in building on/keeping going the wonderful work that has been created to date. One does not expect to be ridiculed on the first go of placing an article. I'm so sorry for not being up to speed - I will do better. PS General politeness would go down a treat here, also. Either way, I do hope my articles are as good as yours, eventually, though I expect that will take me sometime. How long did it take you to master the art of Wikipedia?

I'll get back to you, to let you know how I am faring. Thank you again for your patience. Vanahail (talk) 11:39, 27 February 2019 (UTC)Vanahail[reply]

Vanahail Creating an article from scratch is the most difficult task on Wikipedia, so you have dived in at the deep end, your draft reads like a marketing department wrote it and I wonder if indeed you have any connection with the company? Theroadislong (talk) 12:45, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help regarding a recent rejection

Hi Theroadislong. You recently commented on, and rejected, and biographical stub (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ally_Adnan_(executive)) for quite some time now. Previously it was said that there is not enough coverage of him and I spent a considerable amount of time gathering information and links but am still getting the same feedback. My request to you is that: Please help me understand what I can do to publish with the current refrences. Often time I see entries on Wikipedia and they are not even referencing half of what I have added as sources. Is there a way to publish this as a biographical stub? I want to get 'Ally Adnan' on Wikipedia as he has become a pretty popular speaker and people should be atleast able to see a short biography/info blob about him on Wiki.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi

You have rejected Venus_Jewel draft twice. I can see two reason for rejection one is "Content looks like Marketing" and second "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article".

For first issue, after first rejection, I have added good number of publicly available references. All previous references to company were removed. Site which refer to Venus Jewel categorized as follow

Coming to second issue "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article". Venus Jewel does yearly business of more than 100 MN USD (revenue) every year, I think that makes it eligible. Figure is publicly provided in 2008. Check following article. Current figure must be higher than this.

Draft:Mac Sleyney

Hi,

I have received the rejection of the above article, with the reason that it does "not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject."

I feel this is incorrect in that I went back to primary sources, by retrieving the relevant books at the library of Trinity College Dublin. In particular, the books "The pipe rolls of Cloyne" and "The Irish fiants of the Tudor sovereigns" are rare books or limited edition and are not available in electronic form on the Internet. Some photos of pages are below.

Reference 1

You left the comment that "it looks like a family history project". (Whats the issue here??) While the subject is of familial and personal interest, it pertains to an important family from the 16th Century in Ireland about which any oral and written history is long lost within my family or anywhere else. As mentioned above, I went to primary sources to research the subject. The subject is not just of interest to me, but to anybody whose surname has a root of Mac Sleyney (in irish translation or in english). I am using the wikiepedia page as a means of stimulating research, interest into the Mac Sleyney family, for which there is no commercial or monetary gain.

I would appreciate, if you could reconsider the rejection of the above article.

Thanks for your time, its appreciated.

Frank — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fslyne (talkcontribs) 14:07, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Draft:Mac Sleyney Please see Wikipedia:NOTGENEALOGY and Wikipedia actually requires secondary sources not primary ones, you are free to create the article in main space, AFC is only advisory, but you run the risk of it being tagged for deletion. Theroadislong (talk) 14:20, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Mac Sleyney

Thanks for your comments. I feel the page, while is relates to a historical family, it is not genealogical in mapping out the relationship between individuals. But rather the relationship between historical groupings.

On the issue of primary and secondary sources. I should clarify that the sources are published but not published on the Internet. So the sources I refer to are rare secondary sources.

I hope that helps. Thanks again,

Review of my draft Malt the Brewery page for Wikipedia

Thank you for the swift turnaround of the review of my first solo effort of a new article on Wikipedia. Given the notification that this could take up to 8 weeks, I was pleasantly surprised to get the notification message this morning. I didn’t have any expectation that my first draft effort would be accepted. I have been editing other pages that I have recently visited namely Prestwood, where passing reference is made to the brewery and The ORSociety pages. This however, has been a learning experience for me.

I had done some research on similar Articles written for Breweries, both in the UK and overseas, to understand the sort of content on pages that have already been accepted. A good example is the other local Micro Brewery Rebellion Beer Company, based in Marlow. They seem to reference back to their own website on a couple of citations, is this acceptable?

I am perplexed regarding your concerns regarding the cited references. They are all published content from either independent Award organisations (Great Taste Awards) or local newspapers, (The Source & the Bucks Free Press). I will of course endeavour to source additional evidence of the brewery, its activity, production, products and its contribution to the community in which it resides. I will then review the tone of the piece, update my draft and resubmit. I would however welcome some guidance from yourself or other similarly more experienced contributors to Wikipedia on how to successfully conclude with a published page.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Very old "Living people"

In [1] you added both Category:1872 births and Category:Living people with AFCH. I don't use AFCH and don't know how much it does. Did AFCH add living people automatically? If it did then it should get a bug report. Category:Living people says to use Category:Year of death missing for births before CURRENTYEAR-115. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia unfriendly to small users

Just responding to your removal of my links. I understand from your removal that you're only interested in links from big websites even if the published articles are out of date. Adding some useful information from an up-to-date article about Pinterest isn't of interest to you. Personally I can't see the difference between a correctly referenced link to an in-depth well researched article on Simply Hatch compared with a link to poorly researched out of date article on Time or Forbes or CNET.

I am Alison Wright, the person who ran from Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu with Helene Diamantides. If you'd rather link to an out of date old article on Sportsister then it says a lot about Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alison J Wright (talkcontribs) 13:21, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I shall not waste my time any further. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alison J Wright (talkcontribs) 15:49, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That's correct blogs are not reliable sources. Wikipedia is NOT a blog but it also cannot be used as a source either. The article may be dated, it was also hagiographic in tone, but adding your own blog links to it is not very helpful. Theroadislong (talk) 15:57, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Alison J Wright: That's right: blogs are not reliable sources. I understand it's both surprising and discouraging, however, there are reasons for this: Wikipedia in general is not interested in what people want to say about themselves (or their relatives, friends, employers, organizations, etc.) but only what others say about them. Hence any first-hand relations (blogs among them) are not accepted. Even if they are full of details and absolutely true, they do not count. Similary eye-witnesses reports do not count as a source of information about any event or fact. Please see the policy on Wikipedia:No original research, esp. the section on Primary, secondary and tertiary sources, and further guidelines linked there. --(talk page stalker) CiaPan (talk) 16:21, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kensaku Shinohara footnotes help.

Hello and thanks for reviewing the piece I posted on Kensaku Shinohara. I would like to do it correctly, but I am a hands-on learner, and reading the instructions on how to create footnotes is not helping me, only confusing me. All the information is there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.36.67.188 (talk) 04:02, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, talk page stalker here. Consider this:
Shinohara began his career as a performer as a member of the Tokyo-based dance company Nomade~s [reference] in 2004-2005
Reference: "nomade~s - ノマド's". www.nomade-s.com. Retrieved 2019-03-05.
This implies that "nomade~s - ノマド's" states that Shinohara began his career as a performer as a member. I see no such statement there. (And yes I can read Japanese.) It's a Flash-based horror of a website, preventing you from providing a link to the specific pseudo-page within. This of course is not your fault. I may have missed something. Have I? Where does the site talk about Shinohara?
Additionally, what's the source for his date of birth? -- Hoary (talk) 23:02, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Simon7673, talk page stalker here. Having an article in the Wikipedia in one language does not justify having an article in the Wikipedia of another language. Is this fellow notable for his position in Siemens Healthineers, or as a basketball player (or as both)? Whichever it is, the writer of an article about him is going to have demonstrate his notability in this role.
That writer should not be you. I notice two things: first, your user page says Contributor for Primafila NY; secondly, this page says Together with locally established photographers, Primafila correspondents create premium content for Siemens AG’s global b2b-audience in the computed tomography industry. Hello. I am working on an article about Hanns-Dietrich Schmidt. You declined it due to its doubtful relevance. I am looking for more references to support why he should have an article in English but most of the sources are also in German. Having an article in German doesn't necessarily mean we have to have one in English, the german one is VERY poorly sourced and would probably be deleted on English Wikipedia, your draft is also very poorly sourced, you can use german sources if you wish, they don't have to be in English. Help for a noob

Sorry to bug you, but you corrected some cases of vandalism on the Dodgson page, so I'm hoping you care. I don't understand why my change was reverted. Doesn't everyone know Dodgson referred to himself as the Dodo (for whatever reason) in AiW? Did I do something wrong? I tried to leave a reason but my PCs were busy rendering so I did this on a Mac and hit the wrong ctl/cmd key. I could not find a way to edit it. I know, if I don't know what I'm doing I should stay away - but I DO know Dodgson, so seeing "Aryaman" instead of Dodo kinda pissed me off. I'm sorry that I don't know what I'm doing here well enough to succeed, but someone should change it back. Thanks, Pixel8tryx the noob who should go back to work and not care if Charles Lutwidge Dodgson's Wiki page is wrong. ;> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pixel8tryx (talkcontribs) 02:55, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So at least one editor says that Leach says one thing (though what she's claimed to say isn't entirely clear), and another (you) says that she says something else (ditto). I don't have Leach's book. Just what does she say about this in chapter 2 of her book? -- Hoary (talk) 03:09, 9 March 2019 (UTC) deleted Hoary (talk) 03:16, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on: That comment of mine immediately above was stupid. There is no "Aryaman" in this novel; and even if there were, the name would be unrelated to stammering. "Dodo" does appear, and of course could be related to stammering. So almost certainly you're right. -- Hoary (talk) 03:16, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hoary & Theroadislong: It's my fault for being new and not realizing the correct thing to do was a revert. Sorry about that. I did also wrongly assume people would realize it was vandalism as it's always been "dodo" as far as I can remember and one can easily search the AiW text and find the reference. I would think the person who changed it would have to provide some sort of reference to why they added a word not in the text. Perhaps it is in their own native language.

I honestly had no idea how much that page gets vandalized. And I only wanted the word "Dodo" back -- I know the issue of it's reference to his stammer is a can of worms. All reliable recorded comments I've read regarding his speech dysfluency (and I have the whole 10 volume diary collection) relate to a hesitation (similar to the movie 'The King's Speech'), not a repeating stutter. But as I am not truly (or at least solely) a professional Carrollian research scholar, I'd never add my personal comments to a wiki. And even with such a dysfluency there's no reason why he couldn't have accidentally said, "Do- Dodgson" at some point.

Thanks so much for your assistance in this matter, Pixel8tryx — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pixel8tryx (talkcontribs) 05:11, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pixel8tryx, you can sign and timestamp your comments by hitting "~" four times in a row. Dodgson/Carroll is a name that young people encounter at school. Perhaps they have to read something by him, and doing so is far less interesting to most kids than is playing computer games in which they blow up cyborgs that attempt to blow them up (etc). So bored children will vandalize the article. (Be grateful that they don't attempt to provide evidence: what's far more worrisome than kind of the silliness you spotted is the careful insertion of fake evidence.) The amount of vandalism and miscellaneous stupidity hereabouts is enormous; this means that some people put a lot of effort reverting it; this in turn means that they are sometimes too hasty. (Certainly I have been, at times.) -- Hoary (talk) 08:01, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Coxwold Pottery article - follow up

Dear Theroadislong

Hope you don't mind me getting back in touch with you. First of all, again thank you so much for getting involved with this article. I had a good look at your User Page and found that you had actually contributed 23 or 24 articles on potters! I see as well that you started the W A Ismay article. What an achievement! The Coxwold article has now been up a for a few weeks and I see you have done one or two more edits! Anyway, thanks again. Some points. Would it be OK now do you think to alter the ‘List of UK Studio Potters’ to link Peter and Jill Dick to the ‘Coxwold Pottery’ article? Also, I saw that in your Michael Cardew article there is actually mention of Peter Dick. Again, could we link that back to the Coxwold article? The next thing is that since the article was on Mainspace, Jill Dick has been in touch with me and is very pleased that Coxwold pottery now has an article. (NB I deliberately did not attempt to get in touch with her when I was drafting the article to avoid any conflict of interest.) She’s made one or two small points on the content, so I hope is will be alright to edit these. And last, I'm hoping to put some further examples of Coxwold pots up on Wikimedia Commons and I think it might be quite good to change the two pot illustration for a more interesting example? Many thanks if you have a minute to respond ArchaicW (talk) 17:44, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

The previous message about the talk pages consultation has a broken link.

The correct link has been misinterpreted by the MassMessage tool. Please use the following link: Wikipedia:Talk pages consultation 2019.

Coxwold - thanks

Thanks very much for putting in these two links - very grateful. I would have been quite happy to do it myself, but I rather think you must have been quicker! Many thanks ArchaicW (talk) 11:42, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong. Thank you for your comment.

"Please don't create more than one draft of the same subject, this was also declined here Draft:Riccardo Crespi Gallery Theroadislong (talk) 16:36, 11 March 2019 (UTC)"

As I did not intend to create more than one draft, I have no idea how that could happened. It's my first article.

Do you think I can publish the article already or is going to be declined again?

I'm happy about any advice.

YouTube and Wikieventi are not reliable sources and the exibart references are just listings, so no, it isn't suitable for accepting yet, we need multiple in-depth coverage in reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 17:02, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rejected article

Dear Theroadislong,

I was just wondering what further proof I should submit for the article you rejected earlier here. Part of the issue is a significant portion of her fanbase is completely offline, in a very low income country where most people don't even have access to the internet. She is one of the most famous people in her industry, so I was wondering what else I can do to submit said proof. I have hundreds of caps of newspaper articles and magazine covers, including for some of bangladesh's biggest fashion magazines like Ice Today here. Sadly, many of these institutions don't post their content online directly, but I do have copies of it all for verification. I don't think its fair to rule someone out just because they aren't famous in a country where most of the popular media is internet based like the States. I 'm a pretty new wikier, so not sure how this process works.

Thank you for your help :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Calveym (talkcontribs) 21:04, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sources do not need to be online, newspapers and magazines are absolutely fine, just cite the details, name, date,

publisher etc. Theroadislong (talk) 21:19, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that other poor quality articles exists is not a good reason to create more, see Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. Theroadislong (talk) 16:06, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
