Kawartha Credit Union article declined

Hi, I am confused and disappointed that you have declined to have this article. There are many referenced and verified sources in it. I do not believe it reads like an advertisement. It is factual, concise and sourced. This is a very large credit union that had an article on wikipedia for well over a decade before it was deleted. Without any specific feedback I can't change it.

Draft:Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School

Hello, I think I've followed all your advice since you originally rejected https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Retford_King_Edward_VI_Grammar_School. I'm waiting patiently for it to be re-reviewed, read the guidance, tried the IRC - any other advice please on improvements I can make? ~~

Hytale AfC

How come you said it didn't have significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject? It has 10 refs whose timeframes range between Dec'18 and Aug'19. If I created this in mainspace for a different game noone would look twice at it. Can I have a more exact reason the submission was declined?  Nixinova T  C  18:29, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to create this in mainspace if you wish. Theroadislong (talk) 18:42, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So you wouldn't oppose me just moving the page to mainspace?  Nixinova T  C  02:54, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Marc Nicholls: Rejected Wiki

Hello!!! I was curious about the rejection of my Wikipedia article. You said it was due to the lack of "notability" in the sources. I am confused as to what the difference between the sources I used and the sources used for Chris Little's Wikipedia page (they work together, and we used a lot of similar sources). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Little How can mine be better?

Thanks for reading and for taking the time to review the Wiki article :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Callynicholls (talkcontribs) 00:35, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Who is "we"? user accounts are for single person use only. Theroadislong (talk) 07:10, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

When I say "we" I just meant me and whomever wrote Chris Little's article. I do not know who wrote it; I was just making an observation about how the articles we used in citations are incredibly similar. I would still appreciate some elaboration and an explanation as to how that article could be published and mine could not, despite us using similar sources. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Callynicholls (talkcontribs) 23:38, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Responding how Diego Tryno meets singer

In Zimbabwe he is quite a well known musician ,however he is known to switching genres ,thats why he might be confusing a bit, however judging with the articles i gathered from news papers,he is a hiphop and urbun contemporary musician ,google knowledge graph stated its called contemporary r&b .here are the supporting relevant links

https://www.pindula.co.zw/Diego_Tryno (This is a Zimbabwean biography Independent site ,it shows his background) https://www.newsday.co.zw/2019/08/musicians-fight-against-graft/ (This is a news article which shows his genre and awards) https://zimmagazine.com/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-diego-tryno-zimmagazine/ (This is a maggazine showing his background) https://blownaija.com/e-news-diego-tryno-and-all-generations-entwined-volumes-1-5-age-vol-1-5/ (This is a news article about his Album and upcoming projects) https://www.newsday.co.zw/2019/10/diego-known-abroad-stranger-at-home/ (This is a news article which he reviewed most of his information to the interviewer) https://www.lounge263.co.zw/diegotryno/ (This article shows his international collaborations) https://bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-sc-national-byo-171686.html( This is a news article talking about his background and upcoming projects) http://search.co.zw/diego-tryno/ (This another independent site showing his biography)

Judging with the about independent links ,he qualifies to be a singer because he got coverage from independent sources and news papers,i also have hardcopies of some newspapers and magazines if you will need those — Preceding unsigned comment added by MelvinSeja (talkcontribs) 12:00, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You left a message on my article and im responding to it below

Hi Theroadislong ,thank you for taking time to check my article diego tryno ,now to respond to your question [Can you describe how he meets WP:SINGER please?]. When i created this draft article ,i had come across a news article about him on National Television ,so i went to google and i found out the didn't have Wikipedia ,however at that moment i only had 3 sites to reference ,which were available online ,but i'm happy to see there are more sites to reference now ,so i will provide them in detail. The first Criteria is the Criteria that i will be focusing on ,in my presentation ......[Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.

1.Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2]....... He qualifies to be a singer because if we run a google search now ,the first to show is an Independent site ,that only posts biography's of reputable people in Zimbabwe ,this site is more like wikipedia in a way that a person can only be posted there if they are popular or of reputable status, here is the link Biography from reliable source ....The second source of Biography is the following site ,this site compiles biography from information given during radio and tv interviews only ,so they listen and combine the information ,it is an independent source of information ,here is the link Biography from Radio and Tv site..... These following is Award winning Magazine which is both online and on print ,it talks about his controversy and later talks about his collaborations ,i will combine the links since its the same magazine but ,we should note the articles has a different time frame Talks about his Collaborations, talks about his illuminat controversy.....The following is another award winning magazine which is available online and on print ,which posted about 10 things we didn't know about Diego Tryno ,combining this information from other sites ,i was able to create this draft ,here is the link 10-things-you-didnt-know-about-diego-tryno-zimmagazine/.......This is the last magazine to my knowledge which posted about the meaning of his album ,its available online ,im not sure about on print ,here is the link talks about his album..... This a news article from Nigeria which posted about the meaning of Age and a bit of his background ,here is the link His Age meaning and background.......... Now the following are national newspapers which posted about him ,the newspaper articles gives information randomly so i will try to explain them in detail.... 1 This articles ,explains about his old music ,then talks about his pending video release ,and then talks about his backgroud and how he won awards ,the name of the award and the year ,so all the information in this article could be used separately to create a biography about the artist ,here is the link to the article Newsday article where i got most information...... 2 The following news article is a recent one ,which talks about his previous projects and his soon to come album ,i didnt use much information from it but i saw that other contributors of this draft used some of the information ,here is the link to the article News article about his music...... The following is a most recent news article ,that i would have used if i had known it was there before ,the articles goes dip in the life of the musician ,im happy to see that other contributors of the draft did use it ,here is the link recent news article with many details .I also sited a magazine book which is not online ,so with all those articles from independent sources ,i say he qualifies through Criteria 1 to be a singer ..... I have noted about the many not usefull references you talked about and i will remove them and leave the only relevant ones .Thank You for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Georgiamarlins (talkcontribs) 13:15, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Theroadislong, re the paid editing, see TC2018's comment on my talk page here. I've now done some editing on the draft myself, e.g., converting bare refs, tone, proper formatting, etc....  JGHowes  talk 00:57, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Buie

I am working to create a Wiki Page for Michael Buie.

Each Wiki page of an actor tends to provide information on the subject. Using the film Bombshell for example, Michael Buie is the only actor listed in the cast without a Wiki page. Same with Mystery, Alaska and The Next Three Days and the Marvel series Inhumans.

Does this make sense to you? What can I do to amend the contribution to take away the promotional aspect that you have chosen to block?

I have been trying to complete this task for some time. Please help TC2018 (talk) 17:29, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All content requires a source, the draft has whole paragraphs with no sources. Wikipedia only has articles about people who have been reported on in-depth in reliable independent sources. It's not sufficient to just list his film roles with "proof" we need sustained in-depth coverage about him in reliable secondary sources. You have still not addressed the conflict of interest issue either. Theroadislong (talk) 18:02, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Confused about status of my draft

Hello, I'm getting a message that this draft was reviewed 11 days ago by you https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Alexandru_Darie but I can't find a decision. No worries if you're still working on it, I'm just excited for my first Wikipedia page! York60 (talk) 13:36, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure which message you are referring to? I haven't reviewed or even looked at Draft:Alexandru Darie as far as I know? Theroadislong (talk) 15:28, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, alright then! I was somehow getting that as a notification on my account and was very confused. No worries then! York60 (talk) 21:15, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted a draft for review (Draft:Laga_skiftet) literally like 15 minutes ago and it says that you've declined it. Have you not looked at my draft either? (Genuine question, I don't mean anything by it.) --Streetcarnamedclaudius (talk) 19:45, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I reviewed Draft:Laga skiftet it has a single source and notability has not been established. Theroadislong (talk) 20:00, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the references that didn't have substance

Hello Theroadislong , i have removed the references on the draft Draft:Diego_Tryno and i also removed the category awards and nominations because it only have one source to support it,i don't know if one source is enough for awards?. I added external references from reliable sources inorder for readers to easily follow up on the articles.I left a comment on your talk page about how he qualifies to be singer User_talk:Theroadislong#You_left_a_message_on_my_article_and_im_responding_to_it_below and if there is more that i need to work on please notify me.Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Georgiamarlins (talkcontribs) 19:47, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on R v Cole (2011) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sorry to be a nuisance. You said you might be able to take a second look at this? I added a lot of material to support Bajorek's 'notability'. best regards, Roger Roger Wood (talk) 22:21, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You said that references "must" be inline. I agree that thewy should be especially with a mess like that. But do please recall that Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Reviewing instructions#General standards and invalid reasons for declining a submission says Avoid declining an article because it correctly uses general references to support some or all of the material. The content and sourcing policies require inline citations for only four specific types of material, most commonly direct quotations and contentious material (whether negative, positive, or neutral) about living persons. Many AfC reviewers seem to overlook this. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 22:26, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DESiegel But please note that I wasn't declining the draft! I was merely leaving a helpful comment and have never to my knowledge declined a draft improperly for not having citations inline. Theroadislong (talk) 07:01, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia

Hi TRIL, this is probably a little outside of WP protocol, but I asked your indulgence. Draft:Naaz Joshi has been submitted for review. Please let it go through the process without deletion. I understand that you think it is promotional. I disagree. There is a shortage of articles like this for participants outside of the Anglo Saxon heterosexual world. I really think it deserves its own space and I have worked on it to improve it. I needed something constructive rather than get caught up on talk pages, which is what I seem to be doing (and wasting my time). To be candid, I am leery of articles about persons of Indian nationality, it seems that half of that continent wants their own WP article, but I find this an exception. There are less noteworthy articles out there. Suggestions welcome. And if you know of a worthy sandbox or draft that could use the help of a bumbler like me, please let me know. Hey,

Thanks for your comment. Your critic is that my draft needs in-depth independent coverage, not press releases and not primary sources. But how is that possible? Because its a brand and its not that common that sources are in-depth independent. Could you give me some advance please? Do you think that theres any chance that this article will be published?

Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything that a subject says or wants to say about itself: it is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about it, in reliable places. If there are no such sources, then we cannot have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 10:05, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Transit King Tycoon article review

Hello, I managed to add my references in the text. Does this now prove that what I write about the plot and gameplay are taken from independent sources? We are a small company with only one new game and a small, but growing community of players. I do not have dozens of reviews and articles about our game in my disposal. I was looking at the list of reliable sources from wikipedia's article WP:VG/RS and most of them have PS or console games only.

Can you give me some details on what information you would think would qualify for my article to be in Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hobgoblin4ever (talkcontribs) 10:15, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There lies the problem "I do not have dozens of reviews and articles about our game in my disposal." you are writing about your own company and there are not enough reliable independent sources and until there are we cannot have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 10:34, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Independent sourcing in Joerg Hasford article

Hello, I am at a loss to see why my references 1, 6 and 7 do not qualify as good independent sources. I've read and reread Notability for academics and the guidelines for independent sources I think the organizations and the award statement given by the Society for Clinical Trials fit the criteria for independence and clearly states the significance of his work. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Jschalow (talk) 19:22, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, great catch about the lack of clarity regarding the publisher used as my main source. SOCO International plc/Pharos Energy plc

Hello to you, Theroadislong. Earlier today I made a few edits to the SOCO International plc page to reflect its change of name to Pharos Energy plc, and in the course of doing so I realised an awful lot of the information on the page was out of date: descriptions of its areas of business and operations, references to public announcements made years before, out of date references, corporate logo and external links and so on. I made some, but not all, of the necessary changes. Even the title of the page is out of date: there should be a new "Pharos Energy plc" page, with the "SOCO International plc" page redirecting to that. You reverted my first pass of edits with a request to discuss on your talk page first, which might be related to the fact that the revisions were not comprehensive. I am very happy to undertake a full review and revision of the page, including sources, but I wondered if there was anything else you thought was necessary to discuss first. Look forward to hearing from you.Johnharkes (talk) 20:01, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As you have a clear conflict of interest you need to discuss this on the article talk page Talk:SOCO International not here. You will need to provide reliable sources for any changes. Theroadislong (talk) 20:37, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

SOCO International plc/Pharos Energy plc

Thanks for the message. I am connected to Pharos, or at least was connected until relatively recently, as an employee. On the basis that I do not have authority to make changes to update the page, how would I go about providing source materials to Wikipedia's moderation team and/or an independent contributor to demonstrate that the information on the page is out of date or inaccurate? Or do I just stay out of it altogether and assume it will eventually be picked up by another contributor? How are other publicly listed UK companies dealt with on Wikipedia?

For what it is worth, the company's website www.pharos.energy and its record of Regulatory News Service announcements at the London Stock Exchange should both be reliable and verifiable sources. The company, as a main market listed company on the LSE, is subject to detailed disclosure and other continuing obligations contained in the UK isting Rules, the Disclosure and Transparency Rules and others.Johnharkes (talk) 09:29, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ludwika Ogorzelec page now has 5 sources

Hi, once again. My entry on Ludwika Ogorzelec was rejected by Kvng because it only featured one main source. I have since revised the entry and expanded the list of sources to FIVE. Please help me reassess this entry, so it can hopefully move toward passing Wikipedia standards. Thanks for your work on behalf of Wikipedia! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mandarin54 (talkcontribs) 01:24, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please could you list the three best sources on your draft's talk page I'm seeing mostly primary sources not independent ones? Theroadislong (talk) 08:11, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sustainable Development Goals

Hey,I am Aashutosh Giri a true citizen of India. On 28th of August,2018,my article regarding 'Sustainable Development Goals' was not approved by you and I want to know that why that article was rejected by you ? Aashutosh Giri Your draft was blank, it had no content and so it was later deleted as you were an inactive editor. Theroadislong (talk) 08:07, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My article

Hello, I have received two messages from you. One stating that you have requested that my page be deleted quick and the second letting me know what I cannot write about because of conflict of interest. I never said anything about having relationship with the person I am writing about. I said that I know them as in I have met them and have had the chance to personally interview them and they gave the ok to publish anything about them. So there is no such conflict of interest. Also, I have seen MANY articles from other people that have less information less references and that have known the person that they have written about and have been published with no issues. I don’t understand why you and the other people that have written to me have been giving me such a hard time to post an article about an artist on this FREE information page. Please withdraw the request to delete my page, I spent a lot of time building this page for you to come and try and delete it because of your misunderstanding. If you have further questions or concerns feel free to contact me; preferably before you go ahead and request a deletion of my page or before denying my pieces. Thank you in advance.

Best, Samantha Mia

Reply to comment on Draft:Marek Szczesny

Hi Theroadislong Thanks for your feedback re: draft of Draft:Marek Szczęsny on Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk! Understood. Before proceeding to submitting...

The City Magazine and Polish Cultural Institute are included in the references - they aren't galleries (the former an independent magazine) so would they not be classified as credible secondary independent sources according to definitions on the notability page? I can also incorporate The Financial Times, Wall Street Magazine and The Week Magazine into the references to further buffer these. Would these 5 x independent (secondary) credible sources suffice to establish notability? Could I keep the existing primary sources used to back up the bio or would these jeopardize credibility? Or would you recommend I strip back the text/bio to only reference the 5 secondary sources above and allude to the rest in further reading/external links at the bottom?

Thanks in advance

IsuzB (talk) 14:56, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Correct The City Magazine and Polish Cultural Institute are reliable sources, the addition of The Financial Times, Wall Street Magazine and The Week Magazine would also be very beneficial. Theroadislong (talk) 15:00, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong Thanks, taken feedback on board and edited, have now submitted the draft for review. Fingers crossed. IsuzB (talk)

The draft is still full of unsourced marketing trumpery for example "an AIl Management Software that serves Worldwide top Agencies and Consultants" " one of Argentina's fastest growing digital agencies, among other businesses" "passing 7 final exams in one call" " an motivational blog that became popular as posts started being published in various international newspapers" "recognized as a next potential billion dollar company." "He has non-traditional thoughts about religion, government systems, human extinction, currencies, territorial borders." "Since young, he felt a social responsibility of giving others equal opportunities" "As a hobby, he sometimes writes and speaks about self development and how to break paradigms". Hello, Theroadislong.

Just read your comment on the contested edit for the Draft:Symington W. Smith page. If the article truly does "absolutely not even begin" to pass Wikipedia's standards as you clearly said, then I request you mark it for speedy deletion, and I rest my case. I have no further comments. Catalystico (talk) 18:03, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for creating Anna Kessel - your hard work is much appreciated. There is enough material there now for DYK, so I have nominated it, citing you as creator. You can find the nomination template on the article's talk page. I hope that's OK, but if you don't agree for any reason, I'd be happy to withdraw the nom. Meanwhile, if you wish to continue to improve the article, please do so. Storye book (talk) 19:26, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Review newsletter November 2019

Hello Theroadislong,

This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.

Getting the queue to 0

There are now 823 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.

Coordinator

Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.

This month's refresher course

Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.

Tools
  • It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
  • It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
Reviewer Feedback

Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.

Second set of eyes
  • Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
  • Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
Arbitration Committee

The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.

Community Wish list

There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Rejection of article "University of London Press"

Hello, thanks for reviewing my article. I have contributed with plenty of new articles before, but this is the first time I was asked to submit it for review and approval. Is this a new Wikipedia policy? At any rate, you declined my article and I would like to understand why. I provided correct citations and quoted any referenced texts. As far as I am aware, I do not see any copyright violations. Are you able to tell me which specific part of the (short) article you found objectionable? That way I would be able to correct it. Many thanks, E. Kingsley. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emanuel Kingsley (talkcontribs) 19:15, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emanuel Kingsley It was a copyright violation, ie. you had copied and pasted it from elsewhere, Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Theroadislong (talk) 19:34, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your claim, although I disagree with it. Are you able to provide specific evidence of what I copied and pasted? The only thing I copied was a list of notable authors, which I reworded. I have actually removed the list from the article and am now certain there is no text that is copied from elsewhere. I do not understand all the operative minutea of Wikipedia. If somebody could tell me if the page is okay now, that would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm about to give up. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emanuel Kingsley (talkcontribs) 19:38, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry it was already blanked when I reviewed it, so I marked it for decline. Theroadislong (talk) 19:52, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You will have to wait until an admin checks it for copyright and then re-submit. Theroadislong (talk) 20:20, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

OK thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emanuel Kingsley (talkcontribs) 20:26, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Stewart Henderson (footballer)

Hi Theroadislong, thanks for reviewing my submission. Is it possible to revert the title to Stewart Henderson (footballer, born 1982)? Note that the title contains additional detail to differentiate the name as there is an existing article for the same name, who is also a Scottish footballer by coincidence. Is it possible to retrieve the page for edit and submit with additional references? I want to be able to record the fact that i had played senior football. Stewart Henderson (talk) 10:15, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stewart Henderson I have done that for you, you are welcome to continue editing the draft and re-submit, but it will need at least three strong reliable sources, creating autobiographies is strongly discouraged and rarely succeeds. Have you read Wikipedia:Notability (sports)? Theroadislong (talk) 10:37, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Theroadislong, thanks for the comments. I have provided three reliable sources of references. Is it possible for someone to review and submit on my behalf?

Stewart Henderson (talk) 12:01, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stewart Henderson as I commented on your draft I cannot view any of the sources because they require a subscription so I am unable to assess their usefulness. Google shows nothing for you either [1] Theroadislong (talk) 16:35, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong, is there a way for me to download and provide the references? They are published newspaper articles from 20 years ago. Stewart Henderson (talk) 16:26, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Have you checked to see if you are presumed notable yet?

Association football (soccer) figures are presumed notable if they meet the following:

Players who have played in, and managers who have managed in any Tier 1 International Match, as defined by FIFA,[6] in a competitive senior international match at confederation level regardless of whether or not the teams are members of FIFA, or the Olympic Games. The notability of these is accepted as they would have received significant coverage as outlined above in the general notability criteria. Players who have played, and managers who have managed in a competitive game between two teams from fully-professional leagues, will generally be regarded as notable. See a list of fully professional leagues kept by WikiProject Football. Note: For the purposes of this guideline, played means having appeared in a match either in the starting line-up or coming on as a substitute. Youth players are not notable unless they satisfy one of the statements above, or if they can be shown to meet the wider requirements of WP:GNG. Do the sources cover you in-depth? Theroadislong (talk) 16:35, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

BLoC draft declined

Hello there,

So we are talking about a design pattern in computer programming, and you are mentioning that the blog is not a reliable source, but also YouTube is not (I tried including that, it is blacklisted)! It is a new Design Pattern, so you can find no books about it whatsoever.

If we compared to Aggregator Pattern to this, we can find the only reference is a book! But this is new and cutting edge. Compared to what we usually compare BLoC to: Redux you can see the main reference is a magazine article! But the official dev blog is far more reliable that a magazine article.

Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ismaeel.AA (talkcontribs) 10:18, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject, if there are no such sources then we don't have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 10:28, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your Evolutionary Automata "review".

Do you understand that our submission is not a research submission but is based on research publications listed in references. Your claim "Appears to be research submission" is a nonsense - in our copyright statement (end of our submission) is is explicitly written that is is NOT a research paper (all the results have been published before). If you are not familiar with evolutionary computation and computer science, you should refrain from reviews on that subject. Hello there. My page has been reviewed and it has been judged as non neutral enough. I spent a lot of time on this page (my first one in English) and I would like to know if someone can help me better understand Wikipedia guidelines and why it doesn't fit in this case. I have made the French page and did the same process. My English isn't perfect so my words may didn't express what I wanted or maybe it was the sources because it was difficult to find articles in English... Terms like "Its solutions focus on investment process" " Linedata offers back-to-front office services through six complementary areas" " Linedata empowered its credit finance position" "asset management division provides solutions for alternative, institutional and wealth managers" are all pure marketing speak and have no place in a neutral encyclopedia. Thomas Nail

Thank you for your feedback on "Draft:Thomas Nail". The article has been rejected twice but no one has told me how to fix the issues. One comment suggests that academics need a "named chair" to be listed, which is clearly no the case for most entries. Another says I need reliable independent sources that are verifiable—but that was what I thought I just added with links to peer reviewed journals, etc. I am super confused. Other entries are way less supported than mine. Can you tell me specifically what I need to do here? Its all so mysterious. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RyanHSanborn (talkcontribs) 02:40, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also: I read the wiki instructions and its pretty clear that the article meets at least one of the academic criteria listed: "The most typical way of satisfying Criterion 1 is to show that the academic has been an author of highly cited academic workeither several extremely highly cited scholarly publications or a substantial number of scholarly publications with significant citation rates. Reviews of the person's work, published in selective academic publications, can be considered together with ordinary citations here. Differences in typical citation and publication rates and in publication conventions between different academic disciplines should be taken into account.

I have linked to google scholar and academia.edu to verify this. Thomas Nail has a book, The Figure of the Migrant, cited 285 times (which is a lot for philosophy books). He also fulfills the other named criteria of "unique" contribution that can be verified by reading the linked book review of Theory of the Border- where the reviewer clearly states the original and unique contribution of a whole new conceptual framework. Check it out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RyanHSanborn (talkcontribs) 03:22, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this: I am pasting here the explicit criteria on wikipedia for academic notability and precise how Thomas Nail satisfies this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academics) Academics meeting any one of the following conditions, as substantiated through reliable sources, are notable.

1. The person's research has had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources.

"The most typical way of satisfying Criterion 1 is to show that the academic has been an author of highly cited academic work – either several extremely highly cited scholarly publications or a substantial number of scholarly publications with significant citation rates. Reviews of the person's work, published in selective academic publications, can be considered together with ordinary citations here. Differences in typical citation and publication rates and in publication conventions between different academic disciplines should be taken into account. To count towards satisfying Criterion 1, citations need to occur in peer-reviewed scholarly publications such as journals or academic books. Publication and citation rates in humanities are generally lower than in sciences. Also, in sciences, most new original research is published in journals and conference proceedings whereas in humanities book publications tend to play a larger role (and are harder to count without access to offline libraries). The meaning of "substantial number of publications" and "high citation rates" is to be interpreted in line with the interpretations used by major research institutions in determining the qualifications for the awarding of tenure."

Here is how criteria number 1 is verified: a) follow the link "highly cited" to google scholar and see that there are several "highly cited" books and many well cited peer- reviewed articles. b) follow the academia.edu link at the bottom to see that Thomas Nail has over 4,000 followers with a quarter of a million downloads. c) when determining "highly cited" consider 1. that philosophy has much lower citation rates than the sciences, 2. that books are much more important that articles, and 3. that Thomas Nail is a tenured faculty, meaning that he has published enough to be considered to have made an impact in his field. d) view his CV on academia.edu to see the 10 books he has written and over 30 peer reviewed articles and major conferences and full range of interviews.
