What is the problem?

Hi there

We are referencing the definitive history of Harris Lebus. What is wrong with referencing this? There is a link to a website - that has not been cut by you. Can you please explain why followers interested in Harris Lebus cannot be given a reference to the history??

Reviewing articles

Tell me how can I review articles on Wikipedia (Drafts) Akshat2103 (talk) 15:01, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was invited by an admin, I would imagine you would need many thousands more edits and rather more experience. Theroadislong (talk) 15:05, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ohk thnx understood. Akshat2103 (talk) 15:07, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can please send me link of talk page of any one admin? Akshat2103 (talk) 06:58, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I will contact admins and ask them to make me a reviewer. Akshat2103 (talk) 08:13, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Akshat2103 You have been on Wikipedia 10 days and only made 11 edits to articles, I think you would not be considered yet. Theroadislong (talk) 08:34, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Still plz give me link, I know all policies and regulations on Wikipedia. I have enquired all my doubts regarding reviewing articles on #wikipedia-en-help and I am on Wikipedia since 2017. So give me link of talk page on an admin, plz.

I shall request him/her so that he/she approves.

Note: I will not make any mistake while reviewing. If I have any doubt, I shall ask you, sure!!!! Akshat2103 (talk) 08:44, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have zero experience, so it would be a waste of time, sorry. Theroadislong (talk) 09:06, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay👌fine!!! After how many edits are we permitted to do so? Akshat2103 (talk) 09:18, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The submitter, Dankeshankar, stated, in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elgi Equipments: "So, as of my affiliation. I've no ties with the company nor I am getting paid to do this." So I have advised them to leave that draft alone and edit other articles that they are interested in. If they submit the current draft for review, you or I can decline it. (Actually, if it is submitted for review in its current state, I will reject it, because they have not made any improvements to it.) If they move it to article space, someone will nominate it for deletion, and it should be salted. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:30, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I missed that. Theroadislong (talk) 17:46, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CE and BCE vs BC AD

Dear contributor

Although its an interesting academic exercise to use BCE and CE the fact it that it will cause most readers that are not in academia to have to read additional articles on what the meaning is. The common jargon for dates is still BC and AD and anything else should be kept for theoretical articles that focus on this subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deanerasmus2006 (talkcontribs) 17:58, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deanerasmus2006 Per WP:ERA an article's established era style should not be changed without reasons specific to its content; seek consensus on the talk page first, you are edit warring to get your preferred version, this will only lead to you being blocked. Hi, i saw your edits on my draft page and want to say thank you - i also resubmitted the page after approprpiately fixing it so hopefully it can be approved now, i was just wondering if you had the time could you maybe have a look at it? Thank you Amurphy79 (talk) 13:35, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but I can't see the required independent reliable references that are required to pass WP:GNG, interviews and assorted profile pages are not suitable. Theroadislong (talk) 13:39, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever name you use, you need to declare your conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 13:53, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Intern Communication: The conflict of interest is about you, not about your name / nick. So it doesn't matter what is your account named, if you write about yourself, your relatives, your employer an so on, then you are in conflict of interests.
What concerns your account name itself, it must not be promotional nor imply a shared use (so it should not be a name of an organization or a company nor a position in a company, etc.) Please see the Wikipedia:Username policy for details (esp. sections pointed at by these links: WP:ORGNAME & WP:ISU). --CiaPan (talk) 14:25, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Karina Flores

HI Theroadislong, I have seen you declined my draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Karina_Flores a few minutes ago, I genuinely believe that the article is compliant now as I made an extensive research and this article looks much better of many already published, and I applied the required missing elements to the draft Draft:Karina Flores suggested from the previous review, could you add a specific comment to understand better where is the gap, please? I have seen the code nn, how can you establish this reason code? I have seen the list of article regarding some people you created which for me are nn as reason code. Could you review it again, please? Karaflores (talk) 09:35, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Karaflores (talkcontribs) 09:16, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment! non neutral tone includes "wide-ranging voice", " theatrical performances", "feminine and important for volume", " a rich, full voice, with a dark timbre and intense volume" and " dynamic and effective music accent ". For opera artists this is a technical review of the voice, there is not any wording that would suggest that her voice is the best. Also this review was made by Pierluigi Guadagni which is included in the refereces. Could you review your point of view please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karaflores (talkcontribs) 09:44, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to re-submit but the submission is not written in a formal, neutral encyclopedic tone. I don't know what other articles you are referring to but WP:OSE applies. Theroadislong (talk) 09:46, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HI, I removed all the possible wording that could lead the review to a misunderstanding and submitted again, I left dynamic which is a proper technical element https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accent_(music), please help me to close the loop.

Review: Pickupp

Hello! I'm new to Wikipedia and would appreciate your advice on how I can go about editing the Pickupp article such that it is suitable for publication. There're many write-ups and articles about them currently, similar to companies like Shopee https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shopee, Lalamove https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalamove etc.

Appreciate your advice on what needs to be edited/remove :)

Edit to Saltash wikipedia page

Hi,

Recently an edit to the page for the town of Saltash was removed. Whilst I understand why vandalism may have been assumed, it was a mistake. I have it on good authority that Harrison Jones once fought a bear. The bear ended up being pinned, with 2 separate witnesses confirming this. Unfortunately, flash photography would have scared the bear thus no photos were taken. However, I can give you the email addresses of the two witnesses.
All the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harrijonesson (talkcontribs) 14:07, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki entry: Klaus Benesch (declined Jan 26)

Hi, you mentioned in your comment that his CV is not a reliable source, but the reference under weblinks leads you to the official website of the LMU Munich about Prof. Dr. Benesch that not only holds his CV, but all his positions held, publications, research etc. It is the official website of the LMU Munich and the university's very good international reputation should speak for itself that it does not disclose false information about its professors. The link under weblinks will take you directly to this official page of LMU and the America Institute he is working for and you will find there all the information which is also contained in the wikipedia entry. The same wikipedia entry in German has already been published: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus_Benesch Since he is a well-reputated professor here in Germany it would be great if you could review the referenced link under weblinks so you can see that this official website of LMU Munich is reliable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:C22:7640:4F00:6036:666D:7442:DF0F (talk) 20:44, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's not an independent source though and the fact he has a German article has no bearing on the matter, other wikipedias operate quite differently. Theroadislong (talk) 21:50, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The page ‪Draft:Hexworks

Hi Theroadislong,

Thank you for your feedback in term of Draft version of Hexworks article. Can you please confirm that once I provide more sources (should they be from different countries?) as a references it will help with approval process of Draft:Hexworks article?

Thank you, Izefoa

Only if they are in depth significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 15:48, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Draft:Atif Khan (Director)

Respected sir/mam , I submitted Draft:Atif Khan(Director) but you declined and left comment," sources need to be in depth significant coverage not merely passing mentions or listings." . I just wanted to ask can you approve my draft as someone did to the https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahad_Kashmiri . there is no source at all in the reference section of Fahad Kashmiri wikipage but it is still an article . Actually I am new contributor and i observed type of sources that others had made for their articles and on basis of that i included my sources . Please help me by telling me in brief what kind of sources i really have to add to make my draft an article and is my method of citing sources is correct or not on the Draft:Atif Khan (Director). That would be great help from you . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Khan Ahsan 1 (talkcontribs) 16:45, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Honourable Nyerere Ogbonna, sourcing and neutra tone

Dear Theroadislong, I want to specially thank you for your comment on my article Draft:Honourable Nyerere Ogbonna in which you advised that I add more sources and maintain neutral tone. Already I have 11 independent sources and I have tried as much as possible to maintain objective language/tone. To the best of my knowledge, I do not think Wikipedia policies and guidelines provide that an article for submission should have a minimum of number of sources as I have cited before being considered or reviewed. On the time of neutra tone, I would advise you state specially what language defies neutrality of tone, so that I can revise it. I know we are all learning. For me, I have tried to comply with Wikipedia policies and guidelines to the best of my knowledge and ability. Anyways, I wish you could consider the article for speedy review and approval. Thank dear. Nwachinazo (talk) 11:32, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong Thank you for your comment on my article for submission which you advised that I add more sources and maintain neutral tone. I have left me more confused than you met me on these two aspects. I have tried as much as possible to maintain neutra language and tone. I have complied with the Wikipedia policies and guidelines in order to provide with knowledge needed to write an acceptable article. I think you should have been more specific in what area you are referring to as that I can revise it for onward review and approval. Second, I doubt with due respect that Wikipedia policies and guidelines states 11 independent sources are insufficient to gain any review and possible page. Though you advise may be good, I think the sources are enough for now for you and other colleagues to consider it for speedy approval despite numerous drafts on the backlogs awaiting reviewing. Thank you once more as I await you positive response on this matter. Nwachinazo (talk) 11:40, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You state on your user page "content creator and media consultant" please address the paid editing question. There is no urgency to approve articles Theroadislong (talk) 11:43, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If my user details state that "I am a content creator and media consultant" does that qualify me for receiving an undisclosed financial favour from my subject. Have I as a media consultant writing any published works on him? In fact, are you not a content creator by the virtue of your position as Wikipedia position? What is media consultancy by the way? Aren't you a media person as an experienced Wikipedia? Am I not consulting with you for some help? Is there any financial involvement that results in this consultancy between us? My friend, I choose to describe myself as a media creator and media consultant and that have nothing to do directly with the article in question. If I want to engage in any business that will give me financial favours from my subject, wouldn't I still need to hide my description? Please there is no direct relationship between your accusation and the proof you presented. Have you been challenged for your descriptions on your username? Nwachinazo (talk) 12:26, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A simple "no I am not being paid for my edits " is all that is required, thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 12:41, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. you are right. But I have to give you simple explanations about my justification, Theroadislong.Nwachinazo (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Ogbonna draft

In my opinion, the draft fails notability. Ogbonna is not an elected person. He helped get the governor elected, and as a result he is one of 27 Chairmen in the Imo state of Nigeria. The awards are meaningless re notability. David notMD (talk) 13:59, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong, I beg to disagree with you about your stand that the article's subject is not notable, simply because he is not an elected member. Is he not an office holder? What passes for notability according to Wikipedia policies and guidelines is not based on quality of sources related to the subject of an article. I beg you reconsider your stance.Nwachinazo (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed I just declined it, there are also quite a number of primary sources used, which the article's subject wrote. Theroadislong, well, the article's subject didn't write any of the sources. Or are you saying that Opera News Nigeria as a news platform is not qualified as an independent news source? Meanwhile, you declined the article simply because I cited "primary sources". It is quite unfair not to consider that the article writer cited more than three independent sources. Are you saying that they are not enough? What does Wikipedia policies and guidelines say about this? Educate me. Thank you.Nwachinazo (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong (talk) 14:02, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If the creating editor revises the draft and reapplies, I suggest letting another reviewer address the application. I am going to stop trying to improve the draft, as I now believe that no amount of copyediting can address the key issue of lack of notability. David notMD (talk) 14:53, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I rarely review twice, unless it's a clear accept. Theroadislong (talk) 14:57, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well I shall do some edit and reapply. But you have continued to frustrate my just efforts with some unjustifiable claims. Please be democratic in your judgements.

Research Foundation to Cure AIDS (RFTCA)

Hello, thank you for reviewing the page that I entered for "Research Foundation to Cure AIDS (RFTCA)". You indicated that it appeared that I am a paid editor. Please note, I am not paid for any edits or paid any amount by RFTCA. I am a volunteer. Further, RFTCA is a public charity in which no individuals have any financial interest. The organization is a relatively new organization and I prepared the new entry providing information about it. It is not an advertisement, it is a summary of information about the organization, its scope and context for its work. Would you please take another look and let me know if I can provide any further information? Thank you, Kambiz KambizShekdar (talk) 15:31, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As the self proclaimed "President and Founder of Research Foundation to Cure AIDS" you would be deemed to be a paid editor you certainly need to declare your conflict of interest. Your draft Draft:Research Foundation to Cure AIDS reads very much like an advert, it even starts with an external link to your website. Theroadislong (talk) 15:37, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That is an assumption you are making. I am not paid at all by the entity. I have never been paid not even $1. I am a volunteer president and established the entity in order to donate my biotechnology with promise to cure AIDS to the public on a pro bono basis. As the president, I am knowledgable about the organization and as it has no page, I created one. I thought that once it would be up, others could chime in and make additions or changes? Victor Buckley

Hi, Theroadislong

Thank you very much for your prompt response to my submission.

Re 'the sourcing is unclear', I apologize that on submission, the 'further reading' section got left out. I have since restored it and I hope that, with the references, the sources of the article are clearer.

Re 'tone'. I hope that I make it clear that the tone of the article is that of my sources, rather than me. The charge against Buckley has been explored by four writers: Henry Brooks Adams, E.D. Adams, F. J. Merli and R. E. Long. Each of the paragraphs attempts a summary of their argument as it affects Buckley, the escape of the Alabama, and the other people involved. Brooks Adams is closest to the angry divisions of 1861-71, which were chiefly class-based. E.D. Adams continued the class-based account of the events, without the passion. Merli and Adams - being further from the events - are more objective. My paragraph 'Buckley the Confederate Sympathiser' attempts to show why people in the 1860s might have supported the South, and is based mainly on Foreman's book (as referenced).

I conclude with what I hope is a non-partisan assessment of the case against Buckley (and the British government). The evidence so far uncovered is inconclusive, but I know that at least one writer - Alexander Rose (who has already written on espionage during the War of Independence) - is interested in taking this further.

I may have misunderstood your comments, in which case I hope you will help me amend the article appropriately. I have only put together one or two articles from scratch - I find it easier to amend existing ones!

Hello!

Thank you for your feedback on the page I'm trying to create for the Minerva and Daniel DeLand house. I'm going to address that now. This is my first time creating a page so the formatting is new to me. I appreciate your help.

Happy new month, Theroadislong. I have tried to revised some statements which called for the need for citation. I have also added third-party independent sources (with adequate coverage of the subject) to butrress the article. I have further fixed the "dead link" and the link is now alive. Please kindly remove the tag(s) you place on on my article since I have resolved the issues raised. Thank you as I look forward to a better review.Nwachinazo (talk) 15:43, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the tag, I will leave it for another reviewer to accept or decline. He still doesn't appear to pass WP:GNG. Theroadislong (talk) 15:56, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong Thank you for removing the tag but I doubt your judgement on whether it will pass. You try to influence the judgement of others by this conclusion. Or are you trying to discourage me? If not, then allow others to do their job. Anyway, I believe it will pass having fixed the so-called issues you raised and justifying certain claims I made. Wikipedia articles are articles in progress, however. Nwachinazo (talk) 16:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am just giving you my considered opinion, I have reviewed many, many thousands of drafts, sometimes I get it wrong, but leaving it for another reviewer to decide, to be fair to you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:10, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Theroadislong for accepting the fact that you sometimes get it wrong despite your longtime of experience in reviewing articles. Yes, it will be fairer if you leave my article alone and withdraw all tags and statements you place on my article (and/or in your talk space) to avoid preempting other reviewers' judgements. For me, I am always willing to learn but not from someone who lets me down just because you have attained the level of a reviewer. We shall all get to that stage with time. Overpolicing others' drafts is really bullying.Nwachinazo (talk) 17:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Commending the governor is not an achievement in its self but for the fact that the road is part of his local government area which he remains its Chairman is an achievement because his influence and the necessity of the road drew the attention of the governor of the state. Let say, if you influence brings the community progress, would that be counted as an achievement? Again, if you commend someone for granting the request of your community, does it not calls for referencing? However, I had to include that source because it concerns the subject to justify his notability. Please be positive because you are overstretching this matter. Or do you have "interest" in this subject that you are kicking against his notability and referencing? Please let us know.Nwachinazo (talk) 15:59, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong I am sorry. You have committed the worst professional blunder by asking that an article's subject must be sourced. I see that you are a just a fault-finder and killjoy. This statement of yours is not only unnecessary but also unserious. Please withdraw it, my brother. By the way, what is the meaning of "The Road is Long"? Don't you think it suggests to make things harder for others?Nwachinazo (talk) 16:30, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just to please you, I have removed the unsourced birthdate. But I will never go beyond this to delete the one in the infobox. I am sure you know that not all biographical details need sources. Sourcing may arise for birthdate if it is controversial. Nwachinazo (talk) 17:01, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is where you are completely incorrect WP:BLP requires all biographical details to be meticulously sourced, birthdates in particular, must be removed if there is no source, since you added it you must have seen it somewhere other wise how do you know it? Material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability and neutrality. Theroadislong (talk) 17:10, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have just read and re-read the various policies and guidelines of Wikipedia on WB:BLPs but I am yet to see where it states clearly that "birthdate" should be sourced. What Wikipedia advises is that great care should be taken when including biographical details of a living person even the dead one. This is to avoid misinterpretation and/or civil action. But in this case, there is none. I may not have third-party independent source(s) to support the claim but I can say in confidence that the information given is true, given a primary source available to me here. Since Wikipedia does not accept primary sources, I have tried to refuse using it. Please accept my explanation unless you know the subject too well (which is CoI in reviewing) or hate him to be included on Wikipedia page (which is an act of bias)Nwachinazo (talk) 17:25, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per MOS:OPENPARABIO dates of birth and death should be used, if found in secondary sources (do not use primary sources for birth dates of living persons or other private details about them). So you are correct that you shouldn't use the primary source, but you shouldn't add the dates at all if there is no source available. Accusing me of hate and bias is a personal attack and will not help you get the draft accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 17:39, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think you deserve some respect as a sensoned reviewer. But you descended on me as if I was your prey. Of course, I am/was because I am not up to the level you have attained on Wikipedia. Please I withdraw my rudeness and personal attacks and apologise. Let us move forward. I know you are trying to make my draft get better before it is accepted. And I too have complied humbly with your directives. I think you can help to do justice to this draft on Wikipedia. I bow out, my brother. Nwachinazo (talk) 18:45, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure that my first message got through - This is to say that I've done a major edit and 'toned down' my text. Let me know what you think.Wrk1945 (talk) 19:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's looking much better. Theroadislong (talk) 19:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have accepted the draft, it could do with further sourcing and I have tagged accordingly. Theroadislong (talk) 19:26, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please I need your suggestion(s)

Theroadislong Please what advise would you offer me that will make Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna pass a review? I have followed your instructions and done the needful to the article. What other suggestion can you give me to help progress the work instead of making it to be rejected again?Nwachinazo (talk) 21:24, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nwachinazo all reviewers are looking for is that the draft would be likely to survive an WP:AFD, in order for an article to do that, Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna needs to pass WP:GNG, just read the criteria and ensure that the draft full-fills one of them. Theroadislong (talk) 21:32, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By the way your method of tagging users doesn't work, you are making them article links, to link to me you you could use Theroadislong for instance or User:Theroadislong

Yes, I have read these criteria and I am sure the draft fulfil one or more of these, User:Theroadislong. First, the sources are reliable and independent. More than 5 sources give the subject an in-depth coverage, not just a passing comment. I will like to see that the draft pass this time with you as my mentor.Nwachinazo (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Theroadislong, I have added more contents and third-party independent print newspaper sources that also give the subject more in-depth coverage. I think I am doing my best finding the right sources online and the circulation sections of various newspaper houses in my country, Nigeria. Do you think it can pass this time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nwachinazo (talkcontribs) 00:44, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong I have added more sources to Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna recently but no one has commented on this for sometime now. Can you look into the acticle once again?Nwachinazo (talk) 10:16, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nwachinazo So you keep telling me... there is no urgency, it can take up to 4 months for drafts to be reviewed, there are millions of other articles to be edited in the meantime. Theroadislong (talk) 11:03, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I know. Theroadislong I just wanted to know if I have ratified issues you raised, but not for the article to be reviewed as if I am desperate.Nwachinazo (talk) 16:28, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tatiana Berman Page

Hi Theroadislong,

Thanks for reviewing the Tatiana Berman page. I feel her review on Huffington Post qualifies as significant coverage. She also has an IMDB page and has gained notoriety as a violin soloist.

Gfhoesch (talk) 14:39, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that having an IMDb page confers zero notability and it cannot be used as a source for anything on Wikipedia because it is user edited and not considered reliable. Theroadislong (talk) 14:42, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Theroadislong. This is @Tracksthegeneral. You have been mistaken, I am not being paid for any of the edits I have made during my time here at Wikipedia, nor have I been hired to edit or create for any organization or person.

Tracksthegeneral (talk) 17:14, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Tracksthegeneral[reply]

Hi @Theroadislong. I, also, am not being directly compensated for my efforts. Unfortunately, it appears that Tatiana will need to get some more coverage from larger sources in order to be considered for Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gfhoesch (talkcontribs) 15:49, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Submission: (Draft):Khamsin (band)

Hello! I'm not sure why many of the sources I included do not meet requirement 1 on WP:NBAND. Examples include: Substream Magazine, Teal Cheese, The Deli Magazine, No Country For New Nashville, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcurry094 (talkcontribs) 21:00, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

But also include Facebook, Bandcamp, Kickstarter and Sputnik News, which are not suitable, may be better re-submitting without any of those. Coverage in reliable sources needs to be in-depth and significant not listings or tour details. Theroadislong (talk) 21:07, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

your comment on the John Belham-Payne page

Hi, thanks for looking at the work in progress. You mention reliable sources, If I provide images of, for example, Doreen Valiente's Will Testament, which names John Belham-Payne as the recipient of her magical works Would this be a good source. Also he is mentioned in Doreen Valiente's biography by Philip Heselton - Doreen Valiente - Witch — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joolspayne (talkcontribs) 12:31, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, Doreen Valiente's Will is a primary source and of no use to us. Theroadislong (talk) 12:52, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion, and your draft article is basically a press release. All information in your article needs to be supported by citations to reliable, independent sources, and you've provided no such sources. Small local companies typically don't meet the criteria for a Wikipedia article. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 16:41, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, but it should have been directed to NJM. I just submitted the draft on editor's behalf after I reverted the namespace move. --George Ho (talk) 17:04, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for approving my draft, PolyAnalyst. However, I noticed that you placed a payed contributions template on the article. While it is true that I have been payed to produce this article (as I have disclosed), the template's page states that anyone who places this template on an article is required to start a discussion on that article's talk page to explain exactly what is non-neutral about the article. Should the poster fail to do this, the documentation states that "any editor is justified in removing the tag without warning". Are you interested in starting such a discussion? Sam at Megaputer (talk) 02:04, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The content in the "Applications" section looks more like promotional marketing.Theroadislong (talk) 10:11, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have made some slight changes to that section in light of your comment. If you are still unsatisfied, could you make a more specific recommendation for what needs to go? Most of our coverage in reliable sources is about the tools we have built with the software, rather than the functioning of the software itself, so I think that having an applications section is warranted. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 17:06, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was in the process of adding references to the Ian Barnes article as you moved it into draft, as a result I have now lost quite a bit of work on the references. It would likely have been deleted if I hadn't moved it for you, Amazon is not a suitable reliable source, and draft is a safer place to create articles. Theroadislong (talk) 14:25, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well there are many unsourced paragraphs which need to be removed or referenced and tone is a BIG problem as with this section...

"Teenage Joe Conforte gravitated to the criminal element while living in Los Angeles. He learned to gamble. He visited prostitutes. Being young and Sicilian, operating his own produce store that happened to be on the edge of Mobster Mickey Cohen's territory, Joe also familiarized himself with certain members of organized crime and they him." and this

"Joe Conforte turned eighteen in 1943 and for various reasons drove across the country, seeking adventure. He met his first wife, Susan Stallings, and they married in Noonan, Georgia on May 20, 1945." Theroadislong (talk) 18:58, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Theroadislong, I am asking you because most of the people seemed to not know about this. I wanted to add a checkbox in my User page titled "User Language". Hi Theroadislong! Thank you so much for the feedback, and for declining the article. I wanted to add an article about every newspaper in the "list of newspapers in spain", that is why i started with this one. but it seems like writing such articles is not my thing. i will not edit it again, i will simply delete the account, can you help me to understand how to delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarmenCalvo (talkcontribs) 13:48, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you are sure you don't want to improve it and re-submit, then you can just blank it and it will be deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 14:19, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Theroadislong! I will try. can you please check it again? I didnt change anything, but the reason why i believe this could be important is because 1) i plan to create pages to newspapers in list, for those who don't have, and this one is one of them. secondly, what makes this one unique is that it's founded by an arab, unlike the other spanish newspapers, would you be so kind to double check it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarmenCalvo (talkcontribs) 14:56, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Direct Differentiation and Integration of Logarithms

Thanks for your comment about my draft above. This is my answer:

I searched the main space and I'm sure it's not covered at all. This is from historical time point of view. Differentiation and Integration remained unsolved for a long time since 80's and before at time of big Calculus. Now a days, it is solved and referenced, and all Mathematics Scientists are using it in their university classes from the highest level to high school levels. So this is famous and important topic showing time passed (on logarithms) while incomplete topic in mathematics. No any article in wikipedia shows this perspective of logarithms and mathematics. This is posted to all voters

Hi,

I'm responding to a message I received about my proposed article, "Jeanne Martinet (author)." You asked if I was paid to submit the article. Just to clarify, I wasn't paid. I'm just a friend of the author who thinks she is worthy of inclusion. I tried to edit the article in an appropriate manner.

Thanks!

Paid editing?[edit source] Information icon Hello Sallen1980. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization. Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Amending Facebook/Twitter/IMDB

Hello,

Hope you are well. I removed the twitter/Facebook/IMDB references as you advised and replaced them with references that I believe are independent sources as you can see. However, one of your colleagues seems to believe that BBC and other reputable websites I referenced aren't reputable enough. I know just how busy you are and apologise upfront for making this request. But please, would you tell me if there are any other references that don't meet your criteria, since I focused on correcting the ones you asked me to remove? Thanks so much in advance and remain corona-safe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AFRICAN001 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources need to be in depth and with significant coverage, not mere mentions like the listing on a BBC blog, or any blog really, Twitter (never a reliable source), film directory listings, primary sources like dramastudiolondon.co.uk, and shootingpeople.org, Wikipedia, none of these help to establish notability it just looks like WP:REFBOMBING. Cowrywise draft

However the subject has received wide coverage from Reliable sources in the Nigerian media space e.g Punch newspapers and guardian newspapers. I would like some clarifications on this, because the sources are reliable and independent of the subject.

I wanted to add my date of birth

Hello, I have uploaded my passport to confirm my date of birth on the wiki commons — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbfkayembe (talkcontribs) 18:03, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't think that is a good idea at all! Sources need to be independent and published, your birth certificate is a primary source and I fear it is not acceptable. Your birth date is not important in the scheme of things and unless it is published somewhere public, it's probably best to leave it out. Theroadislong (talk) 18:09, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) Theroadislong already hinted at it, but Dbfkayembe, please please please, for your own safety, do not upload personal documents like passports that contain identifying information onto Commons, as anything uploaded there can be used for any reason. I strongly recommend asking an admin there to delete it for your own personal safety. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 20:14, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the comment on the Vratislav Stula page Theroadislog. The media I have upload are my own documents, from my archives, my property, my images from my camera, and do not have any associated copyrights. Before I delete the gallery, may I insert the

code to the media files list? Would this be a proper way clarify images? Thank you again. Cheers --GerardPaulStula (talk) 19:24, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's irrelevant whether the documents are yours, they cannot be used as references, they are what we call primary sources. I'm not sure that you can claim copyright on documents that you didn't create either. Theroadislong (talk) 19:32, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IEEE Journal of Microwaves page

Theroadislong, The initial article I uploaded came back as way too detailed. This one seems to lack detail. I will give it another go in a copule of days and aim for something in between. Perhaps you could email me a link to a journal web page that is exactly what Wikipedia likes? I can then mimic the format and content. Many Thanks. Katekor You could ask for advice here Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk but I am sure they will give you the same answer your draft Draft:Kormit roofing system is just advertising which is why it was rejected. Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable topic Theroadislong (talk) 08:36, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Theroadislong It seems you are the only one who can help to make Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna pass the next stage. This is taken too long with any sign of success. All I continue to receive is "may take up to four months" "and there are about 4324 or so articles waiting to be reviewed". I am damn sad about this. Can you just assist?Nwachinazo (talk) 12:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no urgency? There are millions of other articles that require improvement in the meantime, why are you fixated on this one? Theroadislong (talk) 12:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed; Nwachinazo there is nothing that you can do to speed this up. You say it has "taken too long" but Wikipedia has no deadlines or fixed timeframes, so the only one it is taking too long for is you. Why is that? 331dot (talk) 12:11, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I may not be able to do anything to speed it up. But I know that one good turn deserves another. I think Wikipedia should review its policies to accommodate automatic placement for articles that have met its requirements. I suspect that some tags are just there to pin down articles and I am not happy about it. This is the worst delay I have ever recieved since submitting articles on Wikipedia. Millions of articles every day, it is said. But how many articles are reviewed each day. A lot needs to be done, sirs.Nwachinazo (talk) 15:58, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are all volunteers here, I review around 30 articles every day, I have already told you multiple times that I am leaving the review of your draft to another editor, please stop posting here. Theroadislong (talk) 16:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yessah, it is well. How could any editor/reviewer interfere in article you place a tag of decline on? From experience, I cannot remember any of my articles which are declined initially and accepted later that were reviewed by another editors. I believe only you can consider to do something better to Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna. Well, Well, Well. I HAVE FOLLOWED YOUR ADVICE ON THE NEED TO IMPROVE THE ARTICLE AND I AM DAMN SAD. IS IT NOT BETTER I RETRIEVE IT?Nwachinazo (talk) 16:46, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Recent decline advice please... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ed_Wenn

Hi Theroadislong! Thanks for checking if my draft was compliant. Unfortunately, it wasn't! I was wondering if you could take a look and see if the recent edits have fixed the issue please? I believe that Ed Wenn should fit in section 1 in Criteria for musicians and ensembles now that I have emphasised that all of the dedicated chapters in all of the books were directly from interviews by the authors and that they were all about Ed Wenn as well as the bands he has been a member of; this goes toward Ed Wenn's significance in the UK's punk scene. I've also found a few references for the discography section that had a notice saying that there weren't any previously. Do you think it's suitable for approval now? Thanks for your time. Ektopia (talk) 14:53, 10 February 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Interviews are not considered to be independent sources I'm afraid, the books look good as reliable sources though. Theroadislong (talk) 14:58, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

about my draft that you deleted

(this is a copy-paste from something I wrote at the AFC help desk because I'm too lazy to write it again)

hello, my draft was deleted for being "not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia." I highly disagree with this, considering that the Flamingo youtube channel currently has 8.49 million subscribers, and also because several smaller YouTubers, such as CGP Grey, with only 4.65 million subscribers, Tom Scott, with only 3.51 million subscribers, and Extra Credits, with only 2.49 million subscribers, all have Wikipedia articles. the fact that you delete my draft for not being notable enough is not only highly hypocritical, but also makes it look like your deliberately attacking the YouTuber in question, and the person submitting the draft. sincerely, Here for the snacks (talk) 16:18, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an admin so cannot delete anything, your draft Draft:Flamingo (YouTuber) was rejected, it has zero independent reliable sources, which are an absolute necessity for a draft to be accepted. Wikipedia summarises what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable topic. Theroadislong (talk) 16:34, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. If the sources are OK, is there any other reason for it not to be approved now? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ektopia (talkcontribs) 21:00, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I said my draft has 2 resources — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajarajan2409 (talkcontribs) 17:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You need to show that the subject has received sustained in-depth coverage in reliable secondary sources, usually at least three are required. Theroadislong (talk) 17:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So, you need 3 resources? oK — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajarajan2409 (talkcontribs) 17:10, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fiber Patch Placement

Hi Theoradislong, please let me know why you declined the article on FPP. I really cannot understand it. There is also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tailored_fiber_placement. Please let me know, where is the difference between the one and the other technology. And more than that: please let me know how to edit/support/help the publication. Thank you Antiquatuss (talk) 17:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The draft Draft:Fiber Patch Placement is largely unsourced and reads nothing like an encyclopedia article as for Tailored fiber placement that is also not very well sourced and needs attention, which is why the argument other poor quality articles exist is not a good one, you will need to find more in-depth independent sources, that is what articles are based on, not our own knowledge of a topic. Theroadislong (talk) 17:48, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your quick response. I didn't know, the TFP article is "poor" in your eyes. I try to have mine look more like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automated_fiber_placement. The point is, currently all text-material is original one. And of course I have a relation to the topic. I wouldn't bother you if it were different ,-> Pardon me to try further to get FPP published. I think, the additive technologies range should be complete.... Am I allowed to do modifictions or will my account be blocked somewhen? Antiquatuss (talk) 18:12, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re Draft page Enrica Maria Ferrara

I have read your comment regarding creating my own page. Do you advise me the to delete the draft? If you google my name you will see that there are several publications and websites linked to it. But tbh with you, I don't want to waste my time. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enricaferrara (talkcontribs) 22:08, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft Draft:Enrica Maria Ferrara has zero independent sources so has no chance of being accepted, creating articles is the most difficult task on Wikipedia, creating autobiographies is so difficult, that I can't recall a single successful attempt in 14 years of editing here. kormit roofing system

Hi dear, Not sure why Wikipedia might think this is an ‎advertisement. Writing about a system and giving out information ‎about that doesn’t make it an advertisement. This ‎roofing system is widely used in Iran and Neighboring ‎countries. I am not stressing on the name, if you think name ‎Kormit is an advertisement, It can be changed to another ‎name, but this is what the system is really called, similar to ‎Concrete slab - Voided biaxial slab – Waffle slab – Hollow ‎core slab –Lift slab- double tee..in wikipedia.‎ Other than the name itself, is there any other issues with ‎this article to be corrected? I’m a new wiki user and writer ‎and in learning process, any advice would be appreciated. ‎Thanks again.‎Katekor (talk) 04:53, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Am I OK to Resubmit for Approval?

Hi, thanks so much for the time you spend helping us "Wikipedia newbies" learn the ropes. I had received some comments from you and another editor for my draft (Positive Grid) that I believe I've now addressed, but wanted to be sure you agree before I resubmit for approval. 3 quick items of note: 1) You had both explained that even if I'm not getting paid to submit a draft, if I'm an employee of any type, I need to declare a COI using the suggested template that was kindly provided to me (which I've now done on my user page).

2) I also saw a note from you about one particular sentence in my draft: "Comment: Positive Grid products are used by top artists around the globe= clearly not neutral tone Theroadislong (talk) 21:33, 21 January 2021 (UTC)" Thank you, I've modified that sentence, as well as a few other that may be deemed similar in tone.

3) What I'm still unclear about is the general reason for decline I saw: "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed." I modified a few sentences, and have 19 references, all of which are independent published sources. Is there anything else you feel I should amend before I resubmit my article? I wasn't sure if this note mainly referred to a few sentences like the one in example #2 above, or if it was a more widespread comment?
