My Article

Hi! I was just curious by what you meant by "Notability." — Preceding unsigned comment added by ETHAN JA3DA (talkcontribs) 10:20, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ETHAN JA3DA Did you click on the blue link in the rejection notice? There is more detail there, as per what notability means. Theroadislong (talk) 10:27, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Rebecca Nnengi Hampson

I read the comment you left on my draft article and would need further guidance on what you would recommend as secondary sources acceptable on Wikipedia. Yes, I did read the Wikipedia guidelines and page on notability and sources/references but I would appreciate simpler examples of sources that are acceptable and to help me better my article. Thankyou for your help and review.Justice Faith (talk) 13:45, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can read about what constitutes a reliable source here WP:RS and please remove or replace all links to blogs, Facebook and YouTube. Theroadislong (talk) 13:55, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Happy new month, Theroadislong. I have tried to revised some statements which called for the need for citation. I have also added third-party independent sources (with adequate coverage of the subject) to butrress the article. I have further fixed the "dead link" and the link is now alive. Please kindly remove the tag(s) you place on on my article since I have resolved the issues raised. Thank you as I look forward to a better review.Nwachinazo (talk) 15:43, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the tag, I will leave it for another reviewer to accept or decline. He still doesn't appear to pass WP:GNG. Theroadislong (talk) 15:56, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong Thank you for removing the tag but I doubt your judgement on whether it will pass. You try to influence the judgement of others by this conclusion. Or are you trying to discourage me? If not, then allow others to do their job. Anyway, I believe it will pass having fixed the so-called issues you raised and justifying certain claims I made. Wikipedia articles are articles in progress, however. Nwachinazo (talk) 16:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am just giving you my considered opinion, I have reviewed many, many thousands of drafts, sometimes I get it wrong, but leaving it for another reviewer to decide, to be fair to you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:10, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Theroadislong for accepting the fact that you sometimes get it wrong despite your longtime of experience in reviewing articles. Yes, it will be fairer if you leave my article alone and withdraw all tags and statements you place on my article (and/or in your talk space) to avoid preempting other reviewers' judgements. For me, I am always willing to learn but not from someone who lets me down just because you have attained the level of a reviewer. We shall all get to that stage with time. Overpolicing others' drafts is really bullying.Nwachinazo (talk) 17:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Commending the governor is not an achievement in its self but for the fact that the road is part of his local government area which he remains its Chairman is an achievement because his influence and the necessity of the road drew the attention of the governor of the state. Let say, if you influence brings the community progress, would that be counted as an achievement? Again, if you commend someone for granting the request of your community, does it not calls for referencing? However, I had to include that source because it concerns the subject to justify his notability. Please be positive because you are overstretching this matter. Or do you have "interest" in this subject that you are kicking against his notability and referencing? Please let us know.Nwachinazo (talk) 15:59, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong I am sorry. You have committed the worst professional blunder by asking that an article's subject must be sourced. I see that you are a just a fault-finder and killjoy. This statement of yours is not only unnecessary but also unserious. Please withdraw it, my brother. By the way, what is the meaning of "The Road is Long"? Don't you think it suggests to make things harder for others?Nwachinazo (talk) 16:30, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just to please you, I have removed the unsourced birthdate. But I will never go beyond this to delete the one in the infobox. I am sure you know that not all biographical details need sources. Sourcing may arise for birthdate if it is controversial. Nwachinazo (talk) 17:01, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is where you are completely incorrect WP:BLP requires all biographical details to be meticulously sourced, birthdates in particular, must be removed if there is no source, since you added it you must have seen it somewhere other wise how do you know it? Material about living persons added to any Wikipedia page must be written with the greatest care and attention to verifiability and neutrality. Theroadislong (talk) 17:10, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have just read and re-read the various policies and guidelines of Wikipedia on WB:BLPs but I am yet to see where it states clearly that "birthdate" should be sourced. What Wikipedia advises is that great care should be taken when including biographical details of a living person even the dead one. This is to avoid misinterpretation and/or civil action. But in this case, there is none. I may not have third-party independent source(s) to support the claim but I can say in confidence that the information given is true, given a primary source available to me here. Since Wikipedia does not accept primary sources, I have tried to refuse using it. Please accept my explanation unless you know the subject too well (which is CoI in reviewing) or hate him to be included on Wikipedia page (which is an act of bias)Nwachinazo (talk) 17:25, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Per MOS:OPENPARABIO dates of birth and death should be used, if found in secondary sources (do not use primary sources for birth dates of living persons or other private details about them). So you are correct that you shouldn't use the primary source, but you shouldn't add the dates at all if there is no source available. Accusing me of hate and bias is a personal attack and will not help you get the draft accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 17:39, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think you deserve some respect as a sensoned reviewer. But you descended on me as if I was your prey. Of course, I am/was because I am not up to the level you have attained on Wikipedia. Please I withdraw my rudeness and personal attacks and apologise. Let us move forward. I know you are trying to make my draft get better before it is accepted. And I too have complied humbly with your directives. I think you can help to do justice to this draft on Wikipedia. I bow out, my brother. Nwachinazo (talk) 18:45, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure that my first message got through - This is to say that I've done a major edit and 'toned down' my text. Let me know what you think.Wrk1945 (talk) 19:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's looking much better. Theroadislong (talk) 19:17, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have accepted the draft, it could do with further sourcing and I have tagged accordingly. Theroadislong (talk) 19:26, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please I need your suggestion(s)

Theroadislong Please what advise would you offer me that will make Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna pass a review? I have followed your instructions and done the needful to the article. What other suggestion can you give me to help progress the work instead of making it to be rejected again?Nwachinazo (talk) 21:24, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nwachinazo all reviewers are looking for is that the draft would be likely to survive an WP:AFD, in order for an article to do that, Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna needs to pass WP:GNG, just read the criteria and ensure that the draft full-fills one of them. Theroadislong (talk) 21:32, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By the way your method of tagging users doesn't work, you are making them article links, to link to me you you could use Theroadislong for instance or User:Theroadislong

Yes, I have read these criteria and I am sure the draft fulfil one or more of these, User:Theroadislong. First, the sources are reliable and independent. More than 5 sources give the subject an in-depth coverage, not just a passing comment. I will like to see that the draft pass this time with you as my mentor.Nwachinazo (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Theroadislong, I have added more contents and third-party independent print newspaper sources that also give the subject more in-depth coverage. I think I am doing my best finding the right sources online and the circulation sections of various newspaper houses in my country, Nigeria. Do you think it can pass this time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nwachinazo (talkcontribs) 00:44, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Theroadislong I have added more sources to Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna recently but no one has commented on this for sometime now. Can you look into the acticle once again?Nwachinazo (talk) 10:16, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nwachinazo So you keep telling me... there is no urgency, it can take up to 4 months for drafts to be reviewed, there are millions of other articles to be edited in the meantime. Theroadislong (talk) 11:03, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I know. Theroadislong I just wanted to know if I have ratified issues you raised, but not for the article to be reviewed as if I am desperate.Nwachinazo (talk) 16:28, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your help in composing my entry, which I can see is much improved - though it still needs work. Wikipedia is as good as it is because of gatekeepers like you. Thanks again.Wrk1945 (talk) 23:43, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tatiana Berman Page

Hi Theroadislong,

Thanks for reviewing the Tatiana Berman page. I feel her review on Huffington Post qualifies as significant coverage. She also has an IMDB page and has gained notoriety as a violin soloist.

Gfhoesch (talk) 14:39, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid that having an IMDb page confers zero notability and it cannot be used as a source for anything on Wikipedia because it is user edited and not considered reliable. Theroadislong (talk) 14:42, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Theroadislong. This is @Tracksthegeneral. You have been mistaken, I am not being paid for any of the edits I have made during my time here at Wikipedia, nor have I been hired to edit or create for any organization or person.

Tracksthegeneral (talk) 17:14, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Tracksthegeneral[reply]

Hi @Theroadislong. I, also, am not being directly compensated for my efforts. Unfortunately, it appears that Tatiana will need to get some more coverage from larger sources in order to be considered for Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gfhoesch (talkcontribs) 15:49, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhh, I see what you are talking about. None of those claims are true but I was just experimenting as to which subjects would fall under Conflicts of Interest. I am actually not a business consultant or any of the above that I stated, (that's why I deleted them afterward since the statements are false), but I just wanted to see which topics fall under Conflicts of Interest. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I will try my best not to confuse others again. Tracksthegeneral (talk) 18:11, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Tracksthegeneral[reply]

Declined Submission: (Draft):Khamsin (band)

Hello! I'm not sure why many of the sources I included do not meet requirement 1 on WP:NBAND. Examples include: Substream Magazine, Teal Cheese, The Deli Magazine, No Country For New Nashville, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcurry094 (talkcontribs) 21:00, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

But also include Facebook, Bandcamp, Kickstarter and Sputnik News, which are not suitable, may be better re-submitting without any of those. Coverage in reliable sources needs to be in-depth and significant not listings or tour details. Theroadislong (talk) 21:07, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Response: Declined Submission: (Draft):Khamsin (band)

Understood! I will remove those sources. Thank you for your advice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcurry094 (talkcontribs) 21:10, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks for your advice and links! I've added a couple more notable sources from Techcrunch and HKET, do note that these articles are fully independent and not sponsored. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pumpkinbanter123 (talkcontribs) 10:44, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

your comment on the John Belham-Payne page

Hi, thanks for looking at the work in progress. You mention reliable sources, If I provide images of, for example, Doreen Valiente's Will Testament, which names John Belham-Payne as the recipient of her magical works Would this be a good source. Also he is mentioned in Doreen Valiente's biography by Philip Heselton - Doreen Valiente - Witch — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joolspayne (talkcontribs) 12:31, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, Doreen Valiente's Will is a primary source and of no use to us. Theroadislong (talk) 12:52, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article Review

Hello Theroadislong,

Kindly help point out the specific headings to add the the article before it can be accepted. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmselby (talkcontribs) 15:36, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft User:Lmselby/sandbox is just blatant advertising it was rejected, there are no "headings" you can add to make it acceptable. Theroadislong (talk) 15:38, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 3 February 2021

Kindly help to edit my article appropriately for acceptance.Thank you Lmselby (talk) 15:40, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion, and your draft article is basically a press release. All information in your article needs to be supported by citations to reliable, independent sources, and you've provided no such sources. Small local companies typically don't meet the criteria for a Wikipedia article. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 16:41, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message, but it should have been directed to NJM. I just submitted the draft on editor's behalf after I reverted the namespace move. --George Ho (talk) 17:04, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for approving my draft, PolyAnalyst. However, I noticed that you placed a payed contributions template on the article. While it is true that I have been payed to produce this article (as I have disclosed), the template's page states that anyone who places this template on an article is required to start a discussion on that article's talk page to explain exactly what is non-neutral about the article. Should the poster fail to do this, the documentation states that "any editor is justified in removing the tag without warning". Are you interested in starting such a discussion? Sam at Megaputer (talk) 02:04, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The content in the "Applications" section looks more like promotional marketing.Theroadislong (talk) 10:11, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have made some slight changes to that section in light of your comment. If you are still unsatisfied, could you make a more specific recommendation for what needs to go? Most of our coverage in reliable sources is about the tools we have built with the software, rather than the functioning of the software itself, so I think that having an applications section is warranted. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 17:06, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was in the process of adding references to the Ian Barnes article as you moved it into draft, as a result I have now lost quite a bit of work on the references. Would have been better if you could have alerted me to what you were about to do! — Preceding unsigned comment added by HorrorProfessor (talkcontribs) 14:22, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It would likely have been deleted if I hadn't moved it for you, Amazon is not a suitable reliable source, and draft is a safer place to create articles. Theroadislong (talk) 14:25, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Even in death...

Hi. Yes, I agree that one sentence should be deleted. Anything else? Thanks a bunch! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Owilli2019 (talkcontribs) 18:45, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well there are many unsourced paragraphs which need to be removed or referenced and tone is a BIG problem as with this section...

"Teenage Joe Conforte gravitated to the criminal element while living in Los Angeles. He learned to gamble. He visited prostitutes. Being young and Sicilian, operating his own produce store that happened to be on the edge of Mobster Mickey Cohen's territory, Joe also familiarized himself with certain members of organized crime and they him." and this

"Joe Conforte turned eighteen in 1943 and for various reasons drove across the country, seeking adventure. He met his first wife, Susan Stallings, and they married in Noonan, Georgia on May 20, 1945." Theroadislong (talk) 18:58, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User Language checkbox's title

Hello User:Theroadislong, I am asking you because most of the people seemed to not know about this. I wanted to add a checkbox in my User page titled "User Language". The default source code for this is "{{Babel...", like this, however, I typed this code and got Title "Wikipedia:Babel", which is not actually what I want. The checkbox is titled as follows:

👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉👉

Please help me by providing correct code.

Hi Theroadislong! Thank you so much for the feedback, and for declining the article. I wanted to add an article about every newspaper in the "list of newspapers in spain", that is why i started with this one. but it seems like writing such articles is not my thing. i will not edit it again, i will simply delete the account, can you help me to understand how to delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarmenCalvo (talkcontribs) 13:48, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you are sure you don't want to improve it and re-submit, then you can just blank it and it will be deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 14:19, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Theroadislong! I will try. can you please check it again? I didnt change anything, but the reason why i believe this could be important is because 1) i plan to create pages to newspapers in list, for those who don't have, and this one is one of them. secondly, what makes this one unique is that it's founded by an arab, unlike the other spanish newspapers, would you be so kind to double check it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarmenCalvo (talkcontribs) 14:56, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Theroadislong! I have added a new paragraph and a new independent reference. Please guide me and share your feedback. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarmenCalvo (talkcontribs) 15:07, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please read what we mean by independent, reliable sources, You have a Wiki page, Linkedin.com, their own website and a blog none of which can be used to establish notability I'm afraid. I can't read the foreign language one, it might be Ok but not on it's own. Theroadislong (talk) 15:23, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Direct Differentiation and Integration of Logarithms

Thanks for your comment about my draft above. This is my answer:

I searched the main space and I'm sure it's not covered at all. This is from historical time point of view. Differentiation and Integration remained unsolved for a long time since 80's and before at time of big Calculus. Now a days, it is solved and referenced, and all Mathematics Scientists are using it in their university classes from the highest level to high school levels. So this is famous and important topic showing time passed (on logarithms) while incomplete topic in mathematics. No any article in wikipedia shows this perspective of logarithms and mathematics. This is posted to all voters

Not paid editing

Hi,

I'm responding to a message I received about my proposed article, "Jeanne Martinet (author)." You asked if I was paid to submit the article. Just to clarify, I wasn't paid. I'm just a friend of the author who thinks she is worthy of inclusion. I tried to edit the article in an appropriate manner.

Thanks!

Paid editing?[edit source] Information icon Hello Sallen1980. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization. Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Amending Facebook/Twitter/IMDB

Hello,

Hope you are well. I removed the twitter/Facebook/IMDB references as you advised and replaced them with references that I believe are independent sources as you can see. However, one of your colleagues seems to believe that BBC and other reputable websites I referenced aren't reputable enough. I know just how busy you are and apologise upfront for making this request. But please, would you tell me if there are any other references that don't meet your criteria, since I focused on correcting the ones you asked me to remove? Thanks so much in advance and remain corona-safe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AFRICAN001 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources need to be in depth and with significant coverage, not mere mentions like the listing on a BBC blog, or any blog really, Twitter (never a reliable source), film directory listings, primary sources like dramastudiolondon.co.uk, and shootingpeople.org, Wikipedia, none of these help to establish notability it just looks like WP:REFBOMBING. Cowrywise draft

However the subject has received wide coverage from Reliable sources in the Nigerian media space e.g Punch newspapers and guardian newspapers. I would like some clarifications on this, because the sources are reliable and independent of the subject.

I meant Thisday Newspapers and Punch Newspapers which are reliable secondary sources in Nigeria, while I agree with the use of blogs (was used as a supplement for some facts) and the removal of content that will be termed marketing. Hello, I have uploaded my passport to confirm my date of birth on the wiki commons — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbfkayembe (talkcontribs) 18:03, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't think that is a good idea at all! Sources need to be independent and published, your birth certificate is a primary source and I fear it is not acceptable. Your birth date is not important in the scheme of things and unless it is published somewhere public, it's probably best to leave it out. Theroadislong (talk) 18:09, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) Theroadislong already hinted at it, but Dbfkayembe, please please please, for your own safety, do not upload personal documents like passports that contain identifying information onto Commons, as anything uploaded there can be used for any reason. User:Theroadislong It seems you are the only one who can help to make Draft:Nyerere Ogbonna pass the next stage. This is taken too long with any sign of success. All I continue to receive is "may take up to four months" "and there are about 4324 or so articles waiting to be reviewed". I am damn sad about this. Can you just assist?Nwachinazo (talk) 12:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is no urgency? There are millions of other articles that require improvement in the meantime, why are you fixated on this one? Theroadislong (talk) 12:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed; Nwachinazo there is nothing that you can do to speed this up. You say it has "taken too long" but Wikipedia has no deadlines or fixed timeframes, so the only one it is taking too long for is you. Why is that? 331dot (talk) 12:11, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I may not be able to do anything to speed it up. But I know that one good turn deserves another. I think Wikipedia should review its policies to accommodate automatic placement for articles that have met its requirements. I suspect that some tags are just there to pin down articles and I am not happy about it. This is the worst delay I have ever recieved since submitting articles on Wikipedia. Hi Theroadislong! Thanks for checking if my draft was compliant. Unfortunately, it wasn't! I was wondering if you could take a look and see if the recent edits have fixed the issue please? I believe that Ed Wenn should fit in section 1 in Criteria for musicians and ensembles now that I have emphasised that all of the dedicated chapters in all of the books were directly from interviews by the authors and that they were all about Ed Wenn as well as the bands he has been a member of; this goes toward Ed Wenn's significance in the UK's punk scene. I've also found a few references for the discography section that had a notice saying that there weren't any previously. Do you think it's suitable for approval now? Thanks for your time. about my draft that you deleted

(this is a copy-paste from something I wrote at the AFC help desk because I'm too lazy to write it again)

hello, my draft was deleted for being "not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia." I highly disagree with this, considering that the Flamingo youtube channel currently has 8.49 million subscribers, and also because several smaller YouTubers, such as CGP Grey, with only 4.65 million subscribers, Tom Scott, with only 3.51 million subscribers, and Extra Credits, with only 2.49 million subscribers, all have Wikipedia articles. the fact that you delete my draft for not being notable enough is not only highly hypocritical, but also makes it look like your deliberately attacking the YouTuber in question, and the person submitting the draft. sincerely, Here for the snacks (talk) 16:18, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an admin so cannot delete anything, your draft Draft:Flamingo (YouTuber) was rejected, it has zero independent reliable sources, which are an absolute necessity for a draft to be accepted. Fiber Patch Placement

Hi Theoradislong, please let me know why you declined the article on FPP. I really cannot understand it. There is also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tailored_fiber_placement. Please let me know, where is the difference between the one and the other technology. And more than that: please let me know how to edit/support/help the publication. Thank you Antiquatuss (talk) 17:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The draft Draft:Fiber Patch Placement is largely unsourced and reads nothing like an encyclopedia article as for Tailored fiber placement that is also not very well sourced and needs attention, which is why the argument other poor quality articles exist is not a good one, you will need to find more in-depth independent sources, that is what articles are based on, not our own knowledge of a topic. Theroadislong (talk) 17:48, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your quick response. I didn't know, the TFP article is "poor" in your eyes. I try to have mine look more like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automated_fiber_placement. The point is, currently all text-material is original one. And of course I have a relation to the topic. I wouldn't bother you if it were different ,-> Pardon me to try further to get FPP published. Am I OK to Resubmit for Approval?

Hi, thanks so much for the time you spend helping us "Wikipedia newbies" learn the ropes. I had received some comments from you and another editor for my draft (Positive Grid) that I believe I've now addressed, but wanted to be sure you agree before I resubmit for approval. 3 quick items of note: 1) You had both explained that even if I'm not getting paid to submit a draft, if I'm an employee of any type, I need to declare a COI using the suggested template that was kindly provided to me (which I've now done on my user page).

2) I also saw a note from you about one particular sentence in my draft: "Comment: Positive Grid products are used by top artists around the globe= clearly not neutral tone Theroadislong (talk) 21:33, 21 January 2021 (UTC)" Thank you, I've modified that sentence, as well as a few other that may be deemed similar in tone.

3) What I'm still unclear about is the general reason for decline I saw: "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed." I modified a few sentences, and have 19 references, all of which are independent published sources. Is there anything else you feel I should amend before I resubmit my article? I wasn't sure if this note mainly referred to a few sentences like the one in example #2 above, or if it was a more widespread comment?

Thanks again! Guitarfan21Guitarfan21 (talk) 15:25, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you can re-submit, it still reads in a promotional manner though for example " offer integration with computers and mobile devices for a modern music-making experience" is pure marketing speak not a neutral encyclopdia's voice. Theroadislong (talk) 15:31, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Draft

Hi there!

I just got a notification about the review on the draft page Alexander White (Designer) (Thanks for reviewing the article so quickly!) and your note saying the description of his work ("feminine, chic yet playful design approach") is not neutral. I had taken this from one of the articles I had found on the London Fashion Week website that is now different. It's describing his work and I am not sure how to make it 'neutral' as those words are describing his style of design. Also reference 1 (referenced at the end of the sentence) the headline of the article describes his work as feminine. Would I need to remove the word playful? Thanks in advance!!

Discogs and find a grave

Hi and thanks for your prompt reply.

I have 2 questions.

1. What would be a better/more acceptable source/link than discogs?

2.The find a grave link was not deleted by the bots. The bots actually grouped several references to "find a grave" for me. The link has photos of the subject's resume which is what I am referring to when I added the link. So I am a bit confused as to why you say find a grave is not acceptable, but the bots (so far) seem to think it is?

Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

Mark --Mark O'Keeffe (talk) 17:05, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are no "bots" involved in removing unsuitable references on James F. Burke (musician) or in grouping them together, only other editors, you can find help here [[5]] but the fact remains that "findagrave" and "discogs" are not considered reliable. RE: Katesurinskaya edits

Hello, Theroadislong,

Thank you for your feedback. I'm very new and very green to Wikipedia editing, so forgive me for not understanding the whole system fully just yet. I read your comment and let me explain the problem I've encountered with editing The Inventor (film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Inventor_(film) page. At first, it said there were no reliable resources (which I disagree with because I've attached articles from well-known magazines like Variety and Deadline among the rest.) Then I got a comment that I need to put paid editing somewhere otherwise they won't approve. And even though I wasn't getting paid I wanted to satisfy the request and that's when I asked the community how to do it. Could you review the page and see why these references and external links are not enough? Thank you so much, I appreciate your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katesurinskaya (talkcontribs) 03:42, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the Draft SciLine page

Hi I see that the page that was created for the nonprofit program I run (SciLine.org) was rejected as resembling an ad. I'm trying to think how to overcome that. Not many others have written about us so independent sources are scarce (though we did include some such references in footnotes including a profile about SciLine by the independent journalism group Nieman Lab and a couple of things we've written that have appeared in peer-reviewed scientific journals, which is a signal of some credibility). But also we have nothing to sell; everything we do to help journalists is free. We do free research for reporters and we connect reporters to scientists (who are also all volunteers - no one pays these academic researchers to get involved and no university pays or gets anything out of what we do). So I'm hoping that makes more clear that we're not advertising for any business -- we're just wanting to be included/listed within the growing universe of orgs involved in fact checking and countering the growing problem of misinformation. (talk page watcher) I looked at this article, as there seemed to be enough independent sourcing to publish it. However it turns out most of the sourcing is internally generated. AAAS and Science Magazine are operated by the SciLine founders. Nieman reports: you (Rick Weiss?) are the author of the article. Same goes for the Iowa paper: Rick Weiss author. We go by independent reliable sourcing, so it is unlikely that this could be published. Also, if you work for Sciline, you are what we call a paid editor. If you have questions you can ask them on my talk page. Thanks. Possibly (talk) 02:12, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jeff Greenwald

Hi,

My name is Kristina Van Prooyen and I am trying to create a page for Jeff H. Greenwald. I wanted to say thank you for reviewing the page and for your suggested edits. I wanted to let you know that I am definitely not a paid advocate attempting to write an article for this topic. It said I should reply but I honestly do not know how to do that, so I thought I would just send you a direct message via "talk"--I hope that is okay.

I was approached by a company called Wikipedia Writing and they wanted to help me edit the content for $900 but I felt like it was a bit odd. I am going to try to edit it myself and hope my changes get the page approved.

I had a question about personal interviews. I studied history in England and although "oral history" sources are allowed I understand they usually are more valid if backed up by a legitimate secondary source. Could, for instance, Jeff's comments about his experience at the Nick Bollittieri Tennis Academy be bolstered by Andrea Agassi's comments on the same subject in his autobiography? Or should I just steer clear of any personal interview content?

I am planning to add more secondary sources and also reduce content. I wanted to say also that four of the articles I mentioned are features in published newspapers either in print or online that solely focus on Jeff. How do I make it understood that these articles focus on him and are not just passing mentions?

I understand I should also try to make it seem more objective so it does not seem like an advertisement and I will try my best to fix that element. Do you have any other advice to give me? I would be genuinely grateful for your help! Again, thank you so much for reviewing the article I tried to write. I was surprised it got reviewed so quickly!

All best, Kristina

P.S. I hope I also did the "Talk" correctly! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristina Van Prooyen (talkcontribs) 00:13, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) While I will let Theroadislong discuss the contents of your draft with you, Kristina Van Prooyen, you absolutely did the right thing in not paying any company to do any writing for you. Content can easily change; there is no guarantee that any content on an article will stay permanently. Any company who purports to be able to do so is attempting to scam you. In accordance with WP:SCAM, if you could forward the email (I assume it was by email) and report the incident to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org, that'd be much appreciated. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 06:02, 17 February 2021 (UTC) Hi, I will report the company that approached me via email to try to persuade me to pay me for them editing/submitting my article. Thank you![reply]
You are editing two versions of the draft it would be best if you abandoned User:Kristina Van Prooyen/sandbox/Jeff H. Greenwald and concentrated on Draft:Jeff H. Greenwald it still reads in a very promotional tone and is very poorly supported by sources, each and every substantive fact will require a citation to a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 14:16, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So eight newspapers are not enough sources? Okay I will try to add even more sources. I will try to work on the Draft rather than the Sandbox. I am new to Wikipedia so am having trouble navigating. Kristina Van Prooyen (talk) 16:56, 17 February 2021 (UTC)Kristina Van Prooyen[reply]
Also the draft contains content copied and pasted from [6] please remove ASAP or draft will be deleted Theroadislong (talk) 17:19, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ibrahim EL Khoury article

Thank You so much Theroadislong, I will add what I can to Ibrahim el Khoury's article to make it look more like an article than a CV like you said, but for the sources, I have put everything available, if you go through all of them, it cites 99% of the information I entered, and for the other 1 percent, which is the metal decoration, I have directly included the picture of the president handing it to him and the certificate signed by the committee. Other than that, I think that this is really the maximum we can find as citations as all the articles are very long and include plenty of information. And Finally, after arranging the model of the article to make it look less like a cv, I think that it would be doing its role of explaining who Ibrahim El Khoury is. PS: I have pictures of the journal articles too that are very interesting in documenting everything. Once again Thank You so much for your time and help, Can you review it once I have arranged everything? :) Carlhatem (talk) 19:30, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Morgan Bullock

Hey, Theroadislong. I recently slightly expanded the article 'Morgan Bullock' and removed the notability tag, as I believe it's now been established that the article's subject meets notability criteria. I was hoping you could review the article and its new sources and see if you feel the same way. I've also placed a handful of citations from reliable, significant sources that I couldn't or haven't yet incorporated into the article on the Talk page. That's great, but in the meantime it was nominated for deletion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Morgan Bullock, that will decide for us! Theroadislong (talk) 09:48, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent-

Hi!

Glad to see you are keeping busy.

Anyway, I wanted to get some information concerning a posting that appears not on Wikipedia but on another website called "Everybodywiki" or something similar. I have posted a link here (for reference only...I do not know what this site is or how they obtained my work in progress) : https://en.everybodywiki.com/Hongju_Lee_clan. I have no idea how a draft article appeared on this website. I did not post it. I was working on a draft (taking a while with citations and references) and then all of a sudden the draft information appeared on this website. Needless to say I was at a complete loss! I tried to contact them at "everybody" and thought they had deleted the article, yet, when I do a Google search I still see it online.

If somehow someone at Wikipedia was involved in this publishing I ask that someone contact me in order to have this article deleted for the following reasons: 1. I did not authorize publication. 2. It is a draft article only, requiring appropriate references/citations. 3. It creates confusion with an already published article in Wikipedia. If this article cannot be deleted by Wikipedia, I would like an explanation as to why it cannot be deleted. Finally, I would like to hear your thoughts on how this article went from being a draft on Wikipedia to being published on another website.

Appreciate your work and hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Hjlresearcher — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hjlresearcher16 (talkcontribs) 15:26, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a new article is the most difficult task on Wikipedia, if you want to try I suggest you start here Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Which bit of this don't you understand? Theroadislong (talk) 17:07, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Can you explain what are reliable and independent sources!

Cheers!

Sure Sk8Wiki, see independent sources and reliable sources, these don't include Instagram, YouTube or other Wikis etc. Theroadislong (talk) 14:41, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
