Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Juniper99 (talk | contribs) at 19:48, 4 November 2011 (Elisa Gabrielli). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions nor to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as CSD G6), or in articles for deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other XfD processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of articles which have already been deleted. If the article you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions on the template or on your talk page.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Angel (Company)

A marketing representative hired by "Angel" has approached me for assistance in creating a neutral article. He says that the company had an old article was deleted, but unsure what the exact name was. If possible, can the article please be restored under user:Socialmedia2011/sandbox2? Thank you. -Phearson (talk) 00:29, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. I have tried but, unless he can provide a better guess at the article title, or the username of the original author, I'm afraid it will not be possible to trace it, and he will have to start from scratch. Tell him to read WP:COI, WP:BESTCOI, WP:PROMO, WP:BFAQ, WP:V, WP:N, WP:CORP, WP:YFA, WP:PEACOCK - it looks an intimidating reading list, but if he's going to do paid editing it will save him trouble in the end to understand all that in advance. JohnCD (talk) 09:20, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The article may have been Angel.com. Peter E. James (talk) 15:36, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

iGrafx

The page was proposed for deletion by Oct 28 for lack of notability. G11 was referenced as a reason for speedy deletion on Oct 26 before changes could be made. Any information considered as promotional will be removed given a chance to revise the content i.e., "More than 1 million licenses have been shipped worldwide. It is considered one of the global market leaders in its field.[3]". References will be added to support notability: a) A book that talks about how to model processes and how to select the appropriate software. iGrafx is one of the software choices: http://www.barc.de/de/studien/prozessmodellierung/prozessmodellierung/prozessmodellierungswerkzeuge.html b) 3 published articles in E-3 magazine jan 2008: http://www.e3cms.de/index.php?id=3053 nov 2009: http://www.e3cms.de/index.php?id=636 april 2010: http://www.e3cms.de/index.php?id=3404 -69.30.60.3 (talk) 16:47, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want to start working on a draft of the article in your own user space? If so consider creating a Wikipedia account, and then leave a response here. The coverage in http://www.e3cms.de/index.php?id=3053 is disappointing. Though this is a supposedly independent magazine the writeup on iGrafx sounds quite laudatory and promotional. Armin Trautner, a company official, is allowed to speak at length about the virtues of his product with no critique by the interviewer. It would be valuable to have some neutral-sounding third party coverage -- even to verify mundane things like the one million licenses. EdJohnston (talk) 23:21, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done — Unless the user will follow up with creation of an account. EdJohnston (talk) 15:07, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ed, I've created a user account, what do you need to see to consider allowing the page to go back up? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gretchenburthey (talkcontribs)

Can you find at least one published review of iGrafx which compares it against other products, rates its pros and cons, and does not sound like advertising? EdJohnston (talk) 01:03, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ed. Here is an unbiased publication: A German book that talks about how to model processes and how to select the appropriate software. iGrafx is one of the software choices: http://www.barc.de/de/studien/prozessmodellierung/prozessmodellierung/prozessmodellierungswerkzeuge.html Also the Gartner Magic Quadrant: iGrafx is reviewed and placed in the leaders quadrant: "Magic Quadrant for Business Process Analysis Tools , David Norton, Mike Blechar, Teresa Jones Publication Date: 22 February 2010 © 2010 Gartner, Inc. and/or its Affiliates. All Rights Reserved." Gretchenburthey (talkcontribs)

Do you have access to what those studies say? Do they give both pros and cons of the tools they consider? I don't think ordinary civilians can access those works without paying a lot of money. That may not be a fatal objection if you can quote from those studies when people have questions. EdJohnston (talk) 02:32, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have access to the Gartner study, they do one every year that can be quoted or printed, but not republished in electronic format. The report evaluates 15 vendors including iGrafx and gives strenths and "cautions" for each. I can certainly provide pros and cons of the iGrafx solution if questioned. Auto Italia South East

MY page Auto Italia South East was deleted, the reason stated was 'ambiguous advertising' which is ridiculous. The page consisted of a simple description and history of the well renowned artists' run space. Auto Italia has recently become a National Portfolio Organisation meaning that it is of national importance to arts and culture[1] [2]. Auto Italia is a not-for-profit organisation, any accusation of advertising is completely unfounded as Auto Italia offers no services for sale. It is very frustrating to have to mount a defense against such blatant vandalism.Chaosandvoid (talk) 17:18, 28 October 2011 (UTC) -Chaosandvoid (talk) 17:18, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leslie Kulesh

I have been working on a series of pages dealing with the work of emerging artists, many of whom may well not be house hold names none-the-less it does not mean that their pages are worthy of deletion. A quick google search of the name Leslie Kulesh will proves that she is an artist with a notable career having show with many well known spaces and artists. There are many artists on Wikipedia whose pages are extremely poor but only preserved due to their connection with a millionaire art collector. If wikipedia's cultural value system is only based on capital then the entire project is moribund. I believe that there should be some actual constructive discussion before pages can be deleted. Rather than just adding a deletion category. -Chaosandvoid (talk) 17:29, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done You might have a rather skewed view of the purpose of an encyclopedia. Have you read Wikipedia:ARTIST for more information on notability for artisans? This is most certainly not the place for emerging artists (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:37, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not the original creator of the page for "Bob Stubbs" - they are no longer accessible or am I able to contact them. The "Bob Stubbs" wikipedia page has been under attack on a semi regular basis from other vandals since it's inception. The page is a continued information page that is linked to the "Social Distortion" page regarding former band members of that particular rock music band. The page is important and has been re-edited down for content twice before. Now someone has the entire page on Fast Track for deletion.I do not have access to a computer to stop this nor do I have anyone I know that can fix and/or edit the page to get it back to standard so it will be left alone. Please Help-any edits are ok as long as pertinent information remains and it is linked to the Social Distortion page on wikipedia. Joe Napolitano

I feel as a supporter and contributor that my page Joe Napolitano was deleted for some unknown reason. I would like whoever deleted it or is in charge of the deleting to contact me directly and explain exactly why? All I did was made some corrections to the information and reformat it to make it more understandable. I didn't even create the page, it was done years ago by someone or some organization. I KNOW FOR FACT THAT ALL THE INFORMATION ON THAT PAGE WAS CORRECT AND CAN BE SUPPORTED AS SUCH. So whoever is responsible for the deletion should step out from behind the Wikipedia Curtain they hide behind and I'll show you where all the info can be verified, such as the IMdb. -75.4.10.111 (talk) 16:57, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dr Eugene Novotney

I wrote this article because I saw that Dr Novotney was one of the few important instructors listed in the Humboldt State University faculty list, who didn't have his own article. The article I wrote was deleted because I did not (yet) include references. More importantly, it was deleted because the biography appears verbatim at http://www.unlockingclave.com/bio-eugene-novotney.html. Unlocking Clave.com is my website and I wrote the bio of Dr Novotney because I offer his ground-breaking Doctoral thesis "The 3:2 Relationship as the Foundation of Timelines in West African Musics" as a free PDF download. I could write another bio, but since I wrote the one I posted in Wikipedia, might that bio be sufficient? I fully intend to add references, which will be easy. I'm currently working on several Wikipedia at once, and I add material every few days. Perhaps this isn't the best method. I'm sorry, I don't want to break Wikipedia protocols. Please reconsider the deletion of this article -Dr clave (talk) 09:07, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Antonino Arconte

The figure of Antonino Arconte and interesting for an encyclopedia, because it represents for over twenty years, the true story of Nucleus G of Gladio Organization, Stay Behind in Italy and other occidental nation. The accompanying notes are parliamentary questions of the Italian Government, unfortunately in Italian, which everyone can translate to understand the truth of important historical events. For this reason the page encyclopedic already exists in wikipedia, the free encyclopedia in Italian language and was from me only translated into English. Links to official sites, are reduced to the essentials and show that when it is written in the brief artist portrait-biography it's documented with official acts of the Italian Government and parliament. I believe that the reason for the cancellation is unfounded and caused by failure to read texts enclosed in the original language. In addition to the fact that we do not know this history very important for the understanding of the cold war, and it is precisely for this reason, there are the voices of the encyclopaedias like Wikipedia. The Inkredibles

The Inkredibles are a music production duo responsible for many US Billboard albums and singles. There are a plethora of lesser producers that have remained on Wikipedia uncontested. I arrived on the deleted page looking for more information on the producers, and as best as I could tell, the page was deleted by a user who has made a name for himself within Wikipedia by deleting entries spanning very diverse subject matter (indicating much of his proposed deletions are likely unfamiliar to him) by leveraging technicalities within Wikipedia's rules. From what I could gather, the article needs cleaning up, but should not be deleted. Thank you. (Redacted) -24.251.66.212 (talk) 04:41, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles concerning people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. london ethnic

The page was totally rewritten after it had been flagged up for deletion. References to any websites other than academic ones were removed. Wikipedia would benefit from more pages about fashion - as an eg, there are hundreds+ pages on musicians and hardly any on designers, yet both groups produce artistic material that is sold commercially. In fact, almost all fashion designers are much less commercial than most of the musicians with wikipedia pages. To a lot of people fashion is a very important part of their culture and an online encyclopedia would be the best place for fashionistas to see new designs, movements in fashion and who is doing what and where. London Ethnic refers to a movement that is happening in fashion in London now..It refers to St Martins College and the London School of Fashion and what their students are doing.. -Saumen75 (talk) 18:51, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Grand Doctor of Philosophy Degree goes above and beyond the Doctor of Philosophy and was created to improve the world by the doctor's contributions in solving global problems; and received a signed decree from King Albert II of Belgium to create this level of education. The World Information Distributed University was founded by award winner Master Eduard Evreinov of the Order of Science, Education, and Culture. The Forum met in Madrid, Spain on November 11, 2002 at The College of Medical Doctors where many dignitaries, college presidents, diplomats, and candidates for office took part in The Conference on World Peace. Much exchange and excitement continued throughout the day with greetings, salutations, dissertations, the presenting of medals to the awardees. In the evening a film on poverty was given by the Founder of the London Diplomatic Academy, Dr. Alphonso Roldan More. The candidates wore translators since much of the dialogue was in Spanish.

Please give the exact title of the page you mean. There has never been an article The Grand Doctor of Philosophy or Grand Doctor of Philosophy or Grand Doctor of Philosophy Degree or any variation that I have tried. ....and why can this person do this without me being contacted first?!

This article was proposed for deletion on the grounds that "[a] search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals... Consequently, this article is about an American actress that appears to lack sufficient notability." After a seven day wait for objections, there was no disagreement with the nominator's reasoning, so the deletion was carried out. No offense, but we do not contact the subject of an article before it is deleted, since this is an encyclopedia, not Who's Who. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:18, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As Orangemike says. We are not obligated to contact the subjects of articles we've deleted, and in any case a subject on Wikipedia needs to have been discussed in multiple third-party sources not controlled by the subject. No sources, no article. Simple as that.
Also note that, per our biographical policy, unsourced or insufficiently-sourced material about living persons, whether good or ill, can be deleted without repercussion. This includes fluff articles written by non-notable actors who act holier-than-thou when things don't go their way. (Not to be rude, but screaming at us isn't going to make administrators inclined to undelete your page, even if it wasn't a biography with insufficient sources.) —Jeremy v^_^v Components:V S M 19:41, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
